My last pair of North Face boots lasted 15 years so why choose another brand? I live in Vermont and need a boot that's warm but not clunky...these fit the bill. I normally wear a 7; ordered a 7.5 based on other reviews I read but ended up sending them back for an 8. I wore them yesterday for the first time snowshoeing - they are perfect. Kept my feet warm but not sweaty and, since they aren't real heavy, they felt like shoes not boots. I recommend these for winter activities of all kinds!

I am looking for winter boots for snowshoeing. While this is a good winter boot, the thick and fleecy insulation makes for a less precise fit than I'm looking for for hiking and snowshoeing. I'll be returning this one for a winter boot that fits more like a hiking boot, like a Merell or Vasque. Otherwise, the boot seems very well made and feels warm. The upside of the thicker insulation is that it has a little give and is comfortable overall. Definitely order a half or full size up. If I were just looking for winter boots for walking around town and shorter hikes, I would have kept this one.

Kept my feet very warm in the snow! Also very stylish. The one bad thing is that these boots are much more bulky than i thought they would be. I wear a size 9 so the bulky shoe makes my foot look huge! If you are planning to walk a lot in these shoes then do not buy; shoes are very heavy.

These are some handsome and sturdy boots! Too sturdy, perhaps--after wearing them around the house for half an hour, I found that my lower calves hurt because the upper part of the boot was so stiff it didn't give at all when I walked. As much as I wanted to keep them, I knew I wouldn't be happy in them for long periods of time. Other than that, they look great and are warm and comfortable. I definitely recommend walking around in them for a bit before committing.

Being on campus, I do a lot of walking outside and standing in the cold. Having these boots provides great support and warmth.

You definitely need to order a full size up. I am glad I listened to other reviews on that. They are warm and comfortable and I am happy with them. Again, make sure to order a FULL size bigger than your normal shoe size.

I bought these boots one half size bigger than I wear and they were still too small so my suggestion is buy a whole size bigger than you wear.

Just received these boots today. Really looking forward to putting them on with all the snow we have outside. However, I could barely squeeze my left foot into the boot. The fact that they are insulated is a major plus, although I am shocked as to how much insulation there is...you can barely see into the shoe - like it's filled with a pillow! I'm a fairly narrow 7.5 normally, so I ordered an 8. Am exchanging for a 9, which is crazy. I wonder if the 9 will fit?

Overall very warm. It hasn't snowed much yet so I'm not sure how they'll hold up to the snow. The bottoms have pretty decent traction, and they're surprisingly light.

I bought these shoes because of a recommendation from a friend. She said you can stand in the snow all day and your feet will still be warm. I can officially second that. The rest of my body was freezing but my feet were snug. The shoe runs a little small only because the insulation is so thick. I'm an 8.5 but I think I would be more comfortable with a size 9. Other than that, I love them!

I was looking for a boot I could wear to drive in that wasn't so big and clunky. I also wanted waterproof and warm! Like the previous review there is a crazy amount of padding, but that's what sold me! They are so comfortable and not clunky. They feel like my feet are wrapped in pillows. I wear a size 10 and they fit great. I worried about being too small as with all the padding it's somewhat hard to tell, but the more I wore them indoors (to make sure) the better they felt. I just got them so haven't tried them outdoors in the cold yet, so I can't report on warmth (why only 4 stars). My feet did feel very cozy and warm inside though. Definitely worth a try.

Short and narrow. I ordered a whole size up and I am a B width. Very stiff like all the North Face Boots seem to be. Insulation seems adequate but a tight boot is always cold.

I didn't return this pair because I had returned a pair of sorel boots, and I needed snow boots. The arch is really tight and it feels very narrow, I have the feeling that half size more would be big for me. It is more a design issue than a size issue. I have chunky calves and it is a shame bc this boots are comfy and ok looking. They will help me to walk to my car and to change them once I'm at work.

To difficult to get my custom orthotics into the boot. All the padding around the ankle didn't allow the orthotic to slide in easily. Like the bump on the back of the heel to hold up a snow shoe strap.

Reading other reviews I tried ordering a half and a whole size up and for some people it worked but I’m so sad (and feel badly for Zappos I keep returning) no size worked for me. It was so strange it felt the same uncomfortableness in all sizes. So much cushion really tight (and my feet are always cold I would be one to enjoy generous padding) but there’s something about this design it’s like an uncomfortable pressure balloon of insulation in these and for some reason changing size did not make it any better. And my toes still felt like they were pushing against boot wall too tight. Grateful Zappos has let me returned so much. So disappointed in north face, as the pair I’m replacing was north face and they were perfect and lasted me 12 New England winters! I’m going to try another brand.

I live in Minnesota, where it actually gets cold. I purchased these as a replacement for a much-loved pair of North Face boots that finally gave up the ghost after 10 years of service. How I loved those boots! Wearing that original pair, my feet were never cold, even when worn for hours in temperatures well below zero. In these boots, my feet get cold after 15 minutes at 20 degrees ABOVE zero. So incredibly disappointed. The right gear in this climate makes winter bearable. These boots are an utter fail.

My ten year old North Face boots didn't make it through this winter. Since they'd been comfortable and very warm, I ordered the current style that seemed most similar. I heeded other reviews that said to order a full size up, and they were right. The insulation is so thick that a size 9 felt right (I typically wear an 8, including my old boots). I don't understand how insulating technology has gotten bulkier rather than slimmer in the past ten years, but so be it. But the extra size makes them feel even clunkier. My other complaint is that since the tongue is continuous with the shaft (just one piece of leather), the boot tends to loosen. It's very tough to cinch the laces well, and they don't stay tightened. I could tell that that was just going to annoy me every time I put them on, so I'm returning them.

I loved how these boots looked but they are horrible on the feet, too tight everywhere and I have a average foot, even with a size bigger. Can't wear them they hurt so much.

Nice boot but runs very small. I wear a 10 and ordered an 11. Toes were jammed up at the end. Had to return.
