First off I was excited about trying out Keens because I have heard great things, I have wider feet . Initially they were a comfortable hiker that requires no break-in whatsoever. But, maybe this was a curse? I wore them probably two times per week and after four months they blew out the side where my pinky toe is (you can see the seam that covers the toe and ball of foot). The laces ripped after one month of wearing them because of the eye hook. Water resistant? hah nope. I am finally getting around to writing this review. But the major blowout happened after six months of owning these boots. I would not recommend paying this much for this low of quality. Cheers.

As Keen suggests, they do run a bit small, so order 1/2 size up.

Keen generally runs a half size small, so order accordingly. The Durand is a great boot , well constructed and comfortable right out of the box. USA made, highly recommended.

Most comfortable pair of hiking boots I’ve ever felt. Perfect right out of the box. These are Made in America, and you can absolutely tell a significant improvement in quality and comfort in every aspect of the build, even over the non-American Keens. We need more Keens made in America.

I really like it in fact I went to reorder it and it went up in price in 2 day. From $125.99 to $144.99 really leaves me wondering why that's ridiculous and it says I'm getting a 19% discount at the $144.99 I don't know too big of a price jump in 2 days

I’ve owned these boots now for over 2 years and they’ve held up well. They continue to keep my foot dry in very wet conditions and to support my cranky ankles. I feel they are a little heavier than I would like but not “heavy”, and for an all leather boot with quality sole I really can’t complain. I have added NB arch supports to them for stability there. They are being retired now as I have found I need a half size larger for those jaunts where I’m doing a lot of descending. Can’t have my toes getting crushed in the front! Very good boots, well made, highly recommend.

Absolutely love these hiking boots! They are more comfortable than my sneakers. Pulled them out of the box and went directly on a 5 mile hike in a forest preserve (flat terrain). Felt great and had no issues at all.

I have had three pairs of these over 4 years. I wear them every day on the job. I love how light they are with great ankle support. They are wider than most boots with great side to side. I do roofing and remodeling. They can't be beat for staying cool and feet stay warm with the right socks. We hiked up a trail in a foot of snow behind our house and my feet were dry and warm.

This is my second pair of Keen boots/shoes and I really like them. And they are made in the USA. They required no breakin, comfortable right out of the box. The Keen website indicates that people have reported that this particular boot runs about a half size small, so instead of my normal 10.5 W boot I ordered size 11 W and it was perfect. I have wide feet and these boots fit really comfortable. I have not tested them for waterproofing, so that will come later. I found out that when the temperature is in the 90's (F) they feel a little warm, do not breath as well as non waterproof boots but that is expected. My wife also has two pair of Keen boots (not these) and she likes them. Prior to these boots my favorite boots were the USA made Danner boots, which are recraftable but cost a lot more. Zappos was quick to ship the boots out, service was good. I have no experience with their return policy, hopefully will never have to find out.

Great JOB, Keen. Keep the wide shoes coming. I normally New Balance / Wolverine because I have very wide feet. Normally a 9 4E. I purchased 10 Wide based on reviews and the toe box is nice and wide. Zappos thank you once again and many thanks to the honest reviews. Lets add a Vibram sole in the future.

This appears to be a very nice pair of boots. The toe box is wider than average and would be a comfortable boot except that the size 14 is about a 13.5. Too bad as I would have enjoyed these without the need to return them.

The Durand is my first experience with Keen. In the past I wasn't sold on the large toe bumper style, but I wish now that I hadn't wasted money on other brands. The boot meets all the criteria for a good light hiker. It has a moderate level of stiffness due to the TPU shank. This provides decent protection and support for your feet in rocky terrain. I like the way the sole turns up at the toe, which provides a subtle rocking motion, taking strain off the forefoot. The small pad at the heel inside the shoe provides extra cushion that you can feel on every step. The insole really doesn't provide much arch support. It is contoured, but there's nothing under arch to keep it from flattening out under your foot. But, this is very typical for even high-end boots, and the Durand fits about right in the middle of the pack when it comes to cost. The sole provides good traction in a variety of conditions. Overall, this is a great boot for everyday wear, hiking, and just about any outdoor adventure.

THE BEST BOOTS I HAVE EVER OWNED! I have wide beat up feet, and I have tried at least a dozen different boots in the last few months, now that I have found the KEEN Durand wide, I am in love. These boots are perfect. Easy to get on, great lacing system, super comfortable. These actually make my feet feel good! I have already purchased a second pair. These do run small however, buy one size up. If you have wide feet and you want a SUPER BOOT, this is it!

I was looking for waterproof day-hike boots with a wide toe box and the Keen Durand has been perfect. I wear orthotics in all of my shoes - a necessity that can sometimes create a painfully tight fit in most shoes. The Durand allows for sufficient room without swimming in them. They are waterproof as advertised. Hiking thru mud, puddle, etc and my feet stayed completely dry. Thumbs up.

I have been a Merrell fan for many years until recently when shoes began to fall apart. I went to Field and Stream on the advice of a coworker to look at Keen shoes. I really didn't want to spend 180.00 on shoes, but I believe in taking care of your feet and you get what you pay for. I normally wear a 13W and went with a regular 14 Durand Mid WP. They fit fantastic. They appear to be very well made. I have no problem forking over the money for something well made and made in America. Ill be happy to get 2 years of service out of these like I did the Merrells. Ill update later as to longevity.

This boot felt true to size. Reviews and Keen itself said it ran 1/2 size small, so I ordered 1/2 size larger, 7.5D. Had to return and get my regular size, 7D.

Nice looking and comfortable boot. Definitely size up 1/2 size as recommended. With medium thick socks they fit well. Haven't had them in wet weather so don't know about waterproofing. I have a regular/normal foot (according to my running shoe supplier) with medium to high arches and they feel really good on the feet. Time will tell as far as durability and withstanding the weather. Looking forward to putting them to work this winter.

I'm a 14 4E and mostly can only wear Keen and New Balance because of my wide feet. These boots are especially wide. Only pair of shoes or boots I've ever had that felt roomy on the sides. Love 'em.

I ordered these for my husband and they were true to size and fit perfectly out of the box. We plan to go hiking in our new boots from Zappos. We will see how they wear.

These are great, highly recommended. I bought these in size 11W two days before hiking Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. I wore them for one day at my office job to try to break them in before the hike. Total hike distance was 8.4 miles, out and back, with 4,300 feet elevation from base to summit. I had no problems with these boots on the hike, and was very pleased with the comfort and stability. I cannot speak to the waterproofness as I did not have an occasion to test that. For reference I wear size 11-11½W Rockports at the office, and size 12 Saucony Bullet sneakers.

Big fan of Keen. I ordered the same size as my other Keens and they fit perfect. I do however wear a half size bigger in Keens than I do with other brands... So, if new to Keen get a half size bigger than normal.

I just returned from my first longish hike in these, and I really liked them. I was not conscious of my feet at all, which is a good thing. I was walking on steep terrain with roots, rock, gravel, mud, and leaves. No problems at all. When walking on pavement (to get to the trail) I could feel a ridge at the heel that was a little odd, but not uncomfortable. I have never owned real hiking boots before so I have nothing to compare these to, but I imagine that this ridge is a traction feature that helps on mud, gravel, etc. Overall, I am very pleased with these. And maybe it shouldn't matter, but I am a sucker for the orange trim on my particular color - it looks great!

I am a die hard Keen fan. Keen shoes are the only ones I have found comfortable on my feet. The boot is incredible!!! Put the on the first day, wore them all day long with orthotic and my feet felt great!! I have narrow feet and wear a size 12. The boot is a no brainer and well worth the extra money.
