I own the tall Captiva in this style & wear them every day in the winter so I was eager to see if I could find an ankle boot that I could wear during warmer weather. Unfortunately the ankle style didn't work for me so I had to return these. They are just as comfortable in the foot - they are the exact same as the taller ones. However, the circumference of the boot at the top is a lot like other casual style ankle boots - wide, around 13" I measured - which means it is really big around my calf. It feels funny when I tuck my jeans in & it is way too big for me. If you have a larger calf and you love the feel of ankle boots, you'll love these. The height was nice - lower than I expected. I love the tall Captivas & have never lost a button for the year I've abused mine, by the way. I prefer the brown to the black, personally. The photo made the black look two-toned, but mine came all in one tone.

They felt too wide for a narrow foot. Also, part of the leather on the inside of the boot was sticking out a little and was rubbing against my skin thru the sock - this made the shoe unwearable and I returned them.

I love these boots. They are so comfortable, it feels like I'm wearing slippers. They are super lightweight, not clunky at all. They look great with pants, but unfortunately on me the shape of my leg and where the boot hits on my upper ankle doesn't look flattering with cropped pants or skirts/dresses. However for my style and comfort needs that is not a big concern and I'm so glad I own these boots. I can wear them all day, walk for miles, they're waterproof. A+!

If you are a Merrell wearer, like I am, these boots are for you. The fit is true to Merrell so you don't need to guess about what size you wear, and no break in period is required. They have a practical "I know who I am" style that is always in fashion. Haven't tried them with tights and a dress or tunic- but am sure they will look good. Some of the reviews mention rubbing against the skin; you do need to tuck in your pants or wear tall sock or tights.

These boots appeared to be dark brown online, but in person they are two distinctly different browns: the back of the boot is a much lighter color than the front. Not what I was expecting.

I have a terribly hard time finding boots that a.) offer enough support and cushion in the footbed and b.) zip up over my larger calves. These boots exceed expectations on both! The arch and cushion in the sole of these shoes is so comfortable and the rounded toe provides plenty of room in the toe-box. Since they do not come all the way up my leg, they zip easily (although the taller version definitely did not zip for me). They are simple but chic, and look great under jeans or over leggings and tights - I highly recommend these!

These are very comfortable! I have a high instep and these have enough space for that. They are great for walking. Very warm so far (I have not worn them yet in really cold weather).

GREAT BOOT! I've had them for over a year and they've held up great. They kept me warm in New Mexico winters and trendy in east coast summer. So comfortable.

They said these were waterproof and they weren't kidding. I broke these boots in on a trip to Iceland where I hiked 5 miles in rain, and then them out to a concert that evening. In spite of being put through the wringer, the boots stayed almost perfectly dry (only problem was when I submerged them a few inches in a stream) and I was comfortable the entire time. These boots were even easy to clean after I got them all muddy. Plus, if you have wide feet, these are very comfortable. I ordered my usual size and they worked well with both thick and thin socks.

Awesome boots! So comfortable, lightweight, dressing enough for a casual office, yet I fully plan on going hiking in them. I usually always wear 8.5 and needed a 9 - I'm finding I usually have to go up a half size for Merrell.

My second pair...I like the style and the comfort. They are good for dress,work or casual activities; they ARE waterproof. The second pair felt just a tad shorter and narrower than the previous pair, but they became comfortable quickly.

Was caught in Colorado with no boots. Knowing Merrell footwear, I ordered these. love them. Wore them every day while away. I added extra arch support - Dr. Scholls - at the recommendation of my orthopedist, and that works for me.

Great boots overall, and definitely waterproof (they have survived Snowpocalypse 2015 in Boston). My only complaint is that the rim of the boot shaft is kind of stiff and if you have skinny calves/ankles it can chafe against your leg pretty badly when you walk. Tall, thick socks seem to solve this problem.

I was looking for a low boot that could be worn with jeans or leggings, and narrowed it down to the Merrell Captiva Launch Mid 2 and the Teva De La Vina Low. I really liked both of them; they both fit well and seemed comfortable when trying them on (I have rather wide feet, FYI). They were almost identical in height and really similar in color ("brown" for the Tevas and "espresso" for the Merrells). I decided to keep the Merrells since they were a little plainer than the Tevas with the buckle, so I felt like I could dress them up or down. I've been wearing them for a couple months now and they've been great and have held up fine so far. Not the warmest in really cold weather, but I wasn't expecting them to be. I wouldn't mind a little more cushioning but I walk ~1 mile to and from my office each day in them without any discomfort. I usually wear them with thick socks too, so that helps.

I bought a size 10 which is normally what I wear, and the boots fit perfectly. I do not have a high arch so there is enough support for me. I wore them out for five hours the first big rain and my feet stayed dry. I like the height of the boot and wear them with jeans and leggings. I love the decorative strap too.

I have these in black tall as well and cannot say enough about them. I have back problems so finding a good shoe is critical. These are comfortable and waterproof to boot! I love them!

This was my fifth pair of boots ordered and returned and I completely am satisfied with these Merrell boots! I have narrow feet and these fit nicely; enough room for socks, too. The waterproof feature is an added bonus and they are warm too which I was not counting on. They are great!

I love these boots! They are so comfortable, and waterproof. I bought another pair in black. I have been wearing Merrell boots for two years, and I cannot imagine my winters without them. I have wide feet and wear orthotics, and these boots accommodate them well.

Very stylish, comfortable boots. Not insulated, so not the thing for walking through snow, but definitely good for wet weather. The lip around the top is a little stiff -- need to wear knee high socks to prevent running. But otherwise these are wonderful.

So I needed a waterproof boot that was reliable but good-looking. I had had Merrell products before and found them able to fill the bill. I ordered several different styles (one of the best things about Zappos is ability to multi order) and this boot is great! Have been crossing the US by train from New York to California and have worn it, in all kinds of weather...every day!

These are great boots that are waterproof - this was the main reason that I bought these. They are very plain, simple boots and are very comfortable. They are a little hard to pull on at first but quite roomy once on.

These are amazing boots. They look fantastic with jeans, slacks, tights and skirts. They were comfortable right out of the box. No break-in required. Also, they are warm in cold weather, but never too warm when indoors. I love them so much I bought them in black, as well.

Best boot ever. I bought these boots for a week trip to New York in December; they have not let me down. We have had heavy rain, sunshine and snow and these boots have kept my feet warm, comfortable and dry. Merrell has never let me down and their outstanding record continues with these boots. They have been put to the test because I have walked over 6 miles daily (yesterday we did 8 miles) and my feet remained dry and comfortable. I wore them with a medium weight sock (example: crew sock thickness) and they were perfect.
