I fell in love with these boots and cannot wait to wear them! I wear size 6.5 and bought the 7. I will have to put an insole in and wear very thick socks. From the reviews they seem to be warm. Bring on the winter.

I like these boots a lot! I was afraid to spend so much money, but I am glad I bought them. I walk a lot and live where the streets can be dirty and mucky with nastiness from street vendors. I was afraid they would get ruined, but thankfully they clean up well. I just wipe with a damp cloth to clean. I have gotten several compliments on these. I can walk miles in them and my feet are still happy!

I bought these in search of a waterproof, not-too-rugged-looking, walkable pair of boots to replace my old Merrell boots that aren't sold anymore. I wanted somethit that could be work over jeans and not look out of place with a skirt. So far these fit the bill (after one defective pair). I've yet to test them among the Chicago ice and snow, but so far they've survived one rainstorm unscathed plus I got home with dry feet. They're comfortable with moderate arch support, a wide toe box, and a 7.5 fit my "athletic" calves with some room to spare to wear over skinny jeans. Since these are wide, I may have been able to go down to a size 7, but I was worried they wouldn't fit my calves or around jeans. I normally wear a size 8 in boots to accommodate thicker socks but my shoe size is 7-7.5. However I couldn't keep the 8's because while they were more comfortable, there was too much room in the ankle and there's a stiff edge that forms the back of the shoe that scraped up my ankle pretty good. Ultimately, I had to return that pair anyway because one of the decorative rivets at the top popped off after just a few hours of wearing the boots! But, Zappos has an excellent return policy and sent me a replacement straightaway. I've not had problems with the rivets/buttons so far, and I like the look of them. I only worry the buttons on the back won't hold up to the wear and tear of winter, so we'll see. I also wish Merrell would consider making these in a higher version that comes below the knee, and with more of a heel. This would be warmer and help nudge them toward dressier. As they are, the shape reminds me of the look of galoshes when I have them on, which precisely what I don't like in a boot. These are very practical with a bit of character, but they probably won't pass muster in a more formal office. I wish someone would make a reliable waterproof boot that looks sleek and could accommodate wider calves! In the end, these serve their purpose (to keep my feet dry) with a bit of character. If you have skinnier ankles these may not work for you, the same if you require something less casual.

Have lost two buttons so far. :( They are VERY comfortable and just a tad clunky. Merrell did send me new buttons but there are not regular buttons you can install or sew on. I will have to pay to have this done.

These were much too tight in the calf to allow me to zip them over even leggings, never mind skinny jeans - and my calves aren't THAT big. Back they go...

These boots are narrow at the toe. If you plan on wearing thigh high wool socks, the boot will feel tight and uncomfortable. They do look like they are scuffed most of the time.

I have a lot of Merrell shoes and boots. They normally fit perfectly and last forever. These were very comfortable at first and then became uncomfortable, which is odd. The toe area is tight. And two buttons fell off quite quickly which really ruins the look. I do not recommend these boots.

So...I must've missed the description that may have said this boot hits mid-calf. I'm a short-legged girl but still: mid-calf. Just wasn't very flattering on my, er, flippers. Merrell makes great products so perhaps this would work for some people. But a supposedly knee-length boot that hits mid-calf doesn't look so good on me. Returning these but you know, Zappos makes it so easy (to buy and send back) that I'm shopping around for a replacement.

I loved these boots for 3 months, then the buttons began to fall off. I didn't wear them often or in extreme weather, but the buttons began coming off one by one anyway. The zipper also sticks and sometimes comes apart. For the price the quality is extremely poor. I would not recommend Merrell products due to the poor quality and high price. I wanted to give one star but the site will only let me do 3?!

Runs big (whole size), a bit too boxy looking, not as feminine as I hoped. Love the buttons, but the foot part is a bit too manish.

I bought Captiva boots and within a week a button fell off. Then another. Then another. Then another. Then I lost count. The boots are cute and comfortable, but I wanted to wear them in public -- now I can only wear them working in the yard. Kind of expensive for yard boots.

I want to preface this by saying, I owned a pair of these boots previously and I loved them. I had bought them from the Merrell website. They were beautiful, lasted three good years before falling apart. Very much worth the money. So, I decided to buy a new pair, this time from Zappos. They fit well, held up in snow and rainy weather, looked great. I was not any harder on this pair than I was on my previous pair. About a year after purchasing, the zipper on the left boot broke, and in order to get my foot out I had to rip the boot. I was pretty sad, as these were an expensive purchase, and they should really last more than just one year. Zappos refused to replace the product, and did not offer to sell me a new pair at a discounted price. Just do not buy these boots from Zappos, they are a defective product. Go to Amazon or Merrell and buy them there, you will not be wasting your hard-earned money that way.

Love these boots; bought them from Nordstrom (Dallas) about 3 or 4 years ago. I still wear them every winter. Actually, I live in New Orleans. I am visiting Dallas this weekend and will check to see if Nordstrom still carries this brand. When I look online, it does not appear that they do. Anyway, glad to discover this site. I will be purchasing another pair exactly like these (in black) and will buy another pair (the Captiva 2 in brown). Don't ever stop making these boots!

I hate that I fell in love with these boots. I have lost multiple buttons and have only worn them a few weeks. I cannot believe that some say buttons do not fall off, as I am not hard on shoes. I have to return them. Do not buy these!

I will not purchase anything from Zappos in the future, as their product descriptions cannot be trusted. Their specs for the Captiva boots that I ordered claimed their circumference was 16". But I could not begin to zip them up over my 15" calfs. When I took out my own tape measure, I found that they measured 14" around. This is very disappointing for such an expensive pair of boots.
