The upper of the shoes came too high on my foot, to close to my ankle.

After reading the previous reviews I ordered a half size up from my usual 8 to 8.5. Like the color, like the looks of the style, even with leggings they don't look too clunky but the sizing is off. They still feel a little too short, my foot slides and toes hit the end of the show while my heels slip, I'm used to Danskos so the slippage is not an issue. I called Zappos and they sent out a size 9, they're way too big. For me they don't have enough arch support. I want to like them and will try wearing the 8.5's in the house for a few days. It's just not worth trying too hard to make them work. We'll see. Thanks Zappos for being so easy to deal with, love your customer service.

Looking for a replacement for my Jungle Mocs and really like the look of these much better. They run a little narrow, unfortunately, so wound up with a pair of Keens instead.

I thought that this would be the one, best possible waterproof shoe for everyday winter wear, and I was willing to spend the money for good quality. They are made well, but the fit is strange. The shoe feels great upon first try, with good arch support and great toe room for wearing warmer socks (unlike Merrell Jungle Mocs which are woefully lacking in toe room). However, walking even a few steps in the house reveals that the heel is too open and too boxy , allowing the foot to slip out with every step. How disappointing! Why are Merrrells (and most other women's shoes) not better designed and tested on real people under real use? Other reviews of this shoe confirm the same findings. Sorry, these are being returned. As other reviewers have said, Merrell has changed. This is not the first time their shoes have hurt my feet. Merrell used to be known as the shoe for people with foot issues. Not bad looking and has substantial tread for snow but tight in toe box and did do some slipping on heel, yes, reviewer commented on this as well.

I'm not rating this shoe-boot too high but it deserves credit. I wanted a shoe that essentially serves as a boot but isn't as cumbersome for daily city commuting in Boston. This does a good job. It fits like a boot though it's light weight and less cumbersome like a shoe. What I don't like about it is it has that stuffy winter boot boxiness. Maybe that's helpful in slippery conditions. I'm not sure it would be though. It has a decent amount of hight on the soul which can be good for slush and snow. Notice how the toe section of the soul is angled upward while the rest of the shoe sits flat on the ground. When I walk in this there's an awkward squeaking noise as the front of the foot comes into contact with the ground mid stride. There is little room for thick socks in the sizing. I'm a 6 1/4 on one foot and 6 3/4 on the other foot. I can usually get away with just buying a 6 1/2 but there's definitely no extra room in this for my larger foot. And the soul doesn't have the squishy warmth of a hiking boot that I like. It feels almost like a platform boot. I might try this out if I lived in more consistently wintery conditions. This is a very boot like shoe but I want something with a bit more sneaker to it I guess.

This shoe has absolutely no arch support. I wear orthotics so it isn't that big of deal but for this type of shoe and something from Merrill I would expect arch support. The shoe is slightly big in length and more so in width. With a heavier sock it fits fine. It is quite a stiff shoe so not sure if that will change once it is worn more. The style is nice and the boulder color is great.

The top of this shoe is indeed stiff, as some have noted, and on the third time out, too late to return, began to press uncomfortably across my toes. The vamp is also a bit hard on a high instep over time. I regret buying them and may give them to Goodwill. The jungle moc has more height in the toe box and more give everywhere, if not the heavy lug sole and waterproof leather.

These shoes felt about a half size too small but very supportive and comfortable. I wear Merrell's on a daily basis but the 'tongue' on this style seemed too long and stiff and hammered into the front of my ankle at each step. Sadly, I had to return them.

I really wanted to love these, unfortunately I can't. They have some major "quirks" that really are annoying. That said, they are very functional and keep your feet warm and dry in a lot a different weather. Out of the box, the first thing is an odd fit. They are very loose in the heel. My toe hits the toe box so they aren't to big but "slip off" your heel when you walk a lot like a clog or flip flop. Second thing is that the insole rides back and up the heel after a few weeks of wear- super annoying to have to take of your shoe and readjust the insole every half hour.. I ended up taking them out. These are over all very comfortable. I can wear them during a 10 hour shift (vet hospital)and no problem. I also slip these on to walk the dogs- light rain and snow are fine and the thick sole insulates from the cold ground and has good traction. On the down side, when walking up or down hills you can feel your foot slipping forward in the shoe- so not great there. Overall I like the slip on and the solid sole for winter weather but I would expect a much better product from Merrell and for the price.

I have similar shoes in brown in a medium width. I could not wear these black shoes in the medium width. As I am never a wide width, I was quite surprised. Runs narrower than normal.

I actually wear big kids size, but wanted/needed the color and waterproof, so I thought I'd try it. Cozy and warm, but a bit too narrow for me. Also I really need good arch support and this didn't seem to have any.

I was looking for a winter shoe that I could wear every day. This shoe fit the bill perfectly - water and snow proof, aggressive tread, nice looking. I loved it except the the top of the shoe was too stiff. It bent when I walked, creating a crease in the leather and pushing down on the top of my foot. I loved the shoe, but because of the stiffness on the top, I am sending it back.

I ordered this shoe in my regular size, then in a half size up, and it still didn't fit. Very tight toe box and the tongue hits my ankle at an uncomfortable angle. Ouch. Sending back both pairs.

I am trying really hard here to avoid tired "agony of defeet" puns. But what the heck! Put these on for my evening stroll and felt like I had two bowling balls strapped to my feet. Had to call a toe truck to get home. Zero arch support, smaller toe box than my old Merrells, and oddly bigger in the heels. I will not be "roving"around in these mocs, but will use them to walk in the yard, take out garbage, etc. Usually, I love this brand. Can only hope that this is the pair my hound chooses to attack next.

Normally I love Merrell's. However, the heel top is now made of cloth making it necessary to use a shoe horn to get the shoe on your foot. The cloth is soft and bends--causing you to need a shoe horn. Or your finger. Awkward. Unfortunately I think Merrell is "economizing" by using cloth instead of leather but making the shoe very difficult to take off and put on and thus....making me go to another vendor for my walking shoes.

I am returning this style. I am very disappointed. The fit was way too tight, but I would consider this pair defective. Very noticeable wrinkling over right vamp and the lining inside the heel counter is very wrinkled too. A sure blister maker for me. Will have to find some other style to replace my favorite old Merrell Orbit Winter Mocs.

Poor workmanship. The right shoe felt terribly uncomfortable when I tried it on. The upper part of the right shoe was a bit too long. I put the shoes up next to each other and, sure enough, one was longer than the other. Shame on Merrell!!
