First the shoes are great, well made, good looking and fit well. Shipping and delivery was excellent. BUT, they were delivered in a plain brown shoebox inside the Zappos box, that seemed odd it was not a Merrell logo box. Then I noticed aftermarket gel heel insoles. I took those out and found a cheap foam insole in the left shoe and nothing in the right one. The OEM Merrell insoles had been removed. The soles and outside showed no wear, so I decided to get a pair of good gel insoles and keep them. They clearly were returns sold at full price. I have bought several pairs of shoes from Zappos and never had an issue, however this is somewhat disappointing.

Tried the non-waterproof version of this show on at a store and while I really like them, wanted something more waterproof. Saw this on Zappos and ordered right away. The shoe fits great and are incredibly comfy! All the support of a normal hiking boot, without the boot!

Got a pair for Christmas and have worn them pretty much every day since. They are exactly what I wanted them to be. Waterproof leather shoes that are comfortable enough to wear all day. And I am on my feet all day. These ARE the Merells you want. These ARE the Merrells you need!

I have 12 EE feet and last year had a neuroma in my foot. My podiatrist recommended Merrell because I work outside a lot and they have great support and could handle my orthotic inserts. This is the 4th pair of Merrells I have bought since then (various styles) and have NEVER been disappointed. My foot is better and I will continue to buy Merrells in the future.

I originally ordered my normal size but they were too short. Returned for a half size larger and they fit great. Very comfortable and yes, they can be worn with casual attire (even wife approved). I'm very pleased and will consider Merrell shoes again.

Based only on two outings in dry weather, I would say this is a comfortable lightweight hiking/walking shoe that fits well and gives a positive feel for the trail. The toe box is not the roomiest and in my opinion the shoe runs small so it is very important to get the right size (no kidding!). I normally wear a euro size 44 or 44.5 which usually is an American 10.5, but for this shoe I had to exchange it for a 45 or US 11. Thanx Zappos for free returns. So be prepared to go larger than normal. Once you get your size I think you will like the shoe.

Love these. Available in wide sizes for me. Walking on dirt trails and not slipping. Great comfort and traction. Fit seems to be normal sizes.

These shoes have turned into my favorites! I bought them to have a second pair of waterproof shoes while skiing in Colorado and following the advice of others (since I have a fairly wide foot) I went with the Wide profile. When I first got the shoes, I was afraid I was getting a 'hot' spot in the left arch but after breaking in, the leather is supple and moves fluidly. Now they are some of the most comfortable shoes I own. I would definitely recommend them and will look for Merrells in the future.

I bought these shoes because I believe they are good looking, enough so to go with khakis in a work setting or on weekends on the hiking trails. Out of the box, they were very comfortable and I wore them several days straight with no problems. They are of the highest quality and continue to look good and stand up to the beating I give them. Being waterproof, they are perfect for our sloppy Chicago winters. Also, they are wide enough for my duck feet. They are a good bet for everyday wear and for rough hiking.

I used these shoes for 5 days hiking the coastal mountains of Big Sur. I had ordered a wide so I wouldn't have toe compression from the narrower/tapered toe box of the standard width and found I did not have issues with heel slippage from the wider width after lacing tightly. The shoes are rugged and withstand the vagaries of trail hiking (exposed roots, rocks, uneven terrain). This could be related to the shoes being the waterproof model, but they retained moisture from sweat and I had to remove the foot insert each night for them to dry sufficiently. Would like to see Merrell make a day hiker with similar sole thickness but with a zero drop differential from heel to toe and a more spacious toe box in their standard widths.

I bought these for walking around construction sites. They replaced another pair of Merrell but a different model that had been discontinued. The soles on these are very stiff. I find that my feet are fatiguing quickly.

These have become my go to shoe. I am buying another pair. I use them for work and everything else and they held up and put upwith my wide feet. Had to get new laces cuz I work them out. And they are still gong strong after almost a year. Highly recommended

As someone getting more serious about hiking, I tried the Merrell Moab Rover Waterproof based on the recommendations provided. After using them for a couple weeks, I am very satisfied and would recommend these to anyone who is hiking semi-technical terrain and wants to protect their feet. Having used trail running shoes up until these, there just wasn't enough protection from sharp rocks, especially as they wore down. The Moab Rover provides more stability/protection without feeling so rigid that you can't feel the terrain like I've read with other hiking shoes.
Even though I have a tendency to roll my ankles every now and then with these and any low profile shoes, I prefer the flexibility of foot movement.I went with the waterproof and, for now, I am liking that option. The wet and cool trails are perfect for these shoes -- I would imagine they'd be perfect for OR & WA climates year-round. Come August/September in Central TX, I will find out if there are any lack of breathing/excessive heat issues.
For now, I couldn't recommend these shoes more.

Better than expected. After wearing through a pair of Keen's in about three years I settled on these Merrell Moab's for light trail hiking in the Midwest. Loved them right out of the box. Perfect fit, solid structure, not too tight on the arch. Decided to hike in them for a while before writing a review. I have about 50 miles on these now and they are simply great. Wet grass, light snow, and gravel trails are a good terrain match. The laces stay tied, foot temperature seem to regulate well even in sub-freezing, and no heel chafe or other physio issues. Yep, 5 stars.

My new trail walking shoes had to have three things: wide toebox to accomodate my bunion issue, removable insole so I can use my orthotic and waterproof. These Merrells satisfied all three criteria. I would have preferred full leather uppers but you can't have everything. A very comfortable and well made shoe at a reasonable price.

Great shoes. Definitely waterproof while traveling in London and a nice pair of shoes to wear casually. I personally would replace the sole with something that provides a softer step, but overall it is a good pair of shoes.

Probably to most comfortable shoe I own. I have in brown and black. I have a wide foot and ordered the regular. Plenty of room. If you have a narrow foot, this may be too wide.

These sneakers are comfortable, and keep my feet warm and dry. I've been wearing Merrell's shoes for a long time, and keep coming back to them whenever I need a new pair of sneakers.Because of the waterproofing, your feet will feel very hot during warm weather.

This shoe is great on all levels. It is extremely comfortable and light to walk with. I am going to be able to use this work. It is sturdy though. I usually buy a size up but didnt have to on this shoe.

Ordered wide size and it was generous and overall the shoe is very comfortable for walking or hiking. I did replace the insoles with high end insert which made a big difference, although I would not say the included insole is bad.
My only suggestion for Merrel is to make the sole all black instead of 2 tone, and less chunky/all terrain looking, as it would be much more attractive, which as an alternative to a hiking boot, this shoe would look more stylish for everyday wear and more "wife friendly", which it seems many customers, including myself use them for.

The Merrell Moab Rober Waterproof shoe feels like it's already broken in. This is the first shoe I've ever bought that feels great the second I put it on. We have had a few rainy days since then and it is waterproof. I bought these to wear once in a while but they have become my preferred shoe. Great comfort!

The wide version of the shoe fits my extra wide foot nicely. I replaced the insole with a high-end insert with better arch support. This is no knock on the shoe I do this on all my shoes...otherwise the insert included is better than most supply.
