As someone who constantly travels between cities carrying lots of heavy stuff I really do like this backpack. It has enough space for me to carry a bulky laptop, my tablet, a 1L water bottle, a couple books, a couple days worth of clothing, headphones, snacks, and an extra pair of shoes. It may not look very wide or deep, but it makes up for that in height. The outer material is very water resistant and well made. You can feel the quality of it. Same with the zippers. The inner lining could be a little bit better, perhaps thicker and stronger. Otherwise I find the shoulder straps dig into my shoulders a little bit when the pack is REALLY loaded up heavily. With an average amount of stuff it's pretty comfy though. I recommend trying the pack on before buying it just in case. Pro tip: put a thin rolled up yoga mat between the cinching straps underneath the pack, takes away from the space inside the pack but works well enough.

The adjustment leads on the shoulder straps are a little flimsy, the pack would be better if they were 1" straps. Also, it would be great if the shoulder straps were a bit longer because in the winter, when wearing a thick overcoat, they are very tight. Otherwise, great pack.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my Command TSA Friendly TimBuk2 Laptop Backpack. This is the second TimBuk2 product I have owned. I also have a large messenger bag which I carry all of my students essays and daily work. I bought it because I needed a backpack that I could safely carry my laptop and iPad on a recent trip with little delay going through the security lines at the airport. The backpack holds much more than I originally thought it would which was a pleasant surprise. I'm really enjoying my new backpack.

The only downside for me is the bottom of the backpack is not flat enough. So when I put it on the ground, it is easy to fall

My only complaint would be the length of the strp. I have found I need to loosen it before I can take the pak off.

The top handle and side handles would be great if it handle a little bit of cushioning for when the bag is heavy. More individual pockets on the inside to organize things like usb drives, cables, adapters, etc.

I'm a big fan of this backpack. I previously have been using a Command Messenger bag for when I fly, but decided to pick this one up to replace it. The backpack style distributes weight MUCH better than a messenger style bag, which is the main reason I decided to buy it. It 'seems' like it holds less than the Command messenger so if you have to pack A LOT of stuff, I might stick with the Command Messenger. I had it packed to the gills on my latest trip, but it held up well. The adjustable straps at the bottom to expand/contract the bag worked well. It says it's not weatherproof but I was out and about in rain/snow mix and it kept everything inside very dry. Granted, it wasn't a downpour or anything, but I wouldn't worry too much about getting it wet unless it's really bad out. I really like the look a feel of the fabric of this bag, and I have an iPad Mini that fits perfectly in the front pocket for easy on-plane access. The only things I don't like: I wish there were a few more pockets/containers on the inside of the bag. I carry a lot of individual, small items that I wish there were more smaller pockets for. The 'crush-proof' pocket on the front confounds me: It doesn't seem very 'crush proof' to me, and I wouldn't trust it with my sunglasses, which seems to be the primary purpose of it according to the pictures online. Other than those minor quibbles I love the bag! Highly recommend.

Great bag for work everyday and the TSA compliant compartment is good for travel. Lots of room for everything.

I got this backpack specifically for travel for work. I have just used it once, so I can't comment on durability or wear. The backpack really protects my computer, though it just barely fits once I load up the backpack (macbook pro 15"). On this trip, I really loaded up the backpack, and I had plenty of room to spare. In fact, it was extremely heavy. That being said, it distributed the weight well on my small frame, and the straps were comfortable. The way I load up this pack will be a good test for durability - so stay tuned for 6 mos from now! I live in Portland, so I'll be able to test for waterproofness soon. So far, I'm extremely pleased! I gave 4 stars because this backpack hasn't been put through the paces yet.

I work in Silicon Valley and fly down to Southern CA for 1-3 days at a time every other week. I pack all my clothes in a packing "cross" in the largest compartment of this bag, put my man-purse in the second largest pocket, and put my 13" laptop and iPad in the TSA pocket. It's heavy but it feels really comfortable on my back. I love the handheld straps tuck away, the water bottle holder, and the glasses pocket. I wish the bigger pocket opened all the way for easier insertion of my clothes, and that there was a shoulder only strap to carry it more messenger style, but these are minor nits. I've used it for a half dozen trips so far and I pack it bursting at the seams but it's been the best bag I've ever used.

Great bag, but could use some more internal compartments to spread out cables and small items, which would take advantage of the rectangular shape of the bag, instead of the "pregnant" look of other bags. Using a Grid-It cord keeper has offset this.

Just kidding. Love the bag. I just liked the suggested title. Right when I got it the straps were a little stiff and dug into my shoulders but after wearing it for one day it now fits comfortably. It is big enough to hold my: laptop and ipad (laptop compartment), planner, 3 subject notebook (x3), and an expanding 8 subject folder binder (main top compartment with room to spare), all my chargers, pens, pencils, and calculator(front top loading compartment), headphones and 3ds (front small pocket), my snacks throughout the day (front big pocket), and (which really sealed the deal for me) my 32 oz wide mouth nalgene water bottle in the side water bottle holder. I was really worried that the bag would not hold all my stuff but that fear was unfounded. Even with that stuff in my pack it does not look bulky at all. Plus, the twill really gives it a nice touch. I worry that it will wear but after going class to class through a small rainfall it does seem to hold up nicely and kept all my belongings dry. Easy to store and access all of your belongings. I would give it that last star but it might be too early to tell. Overall, I would definitely recommend this bag to any student looking for a new bag.

I love most of this backpack except the TSA friendly flipout. It seemed handy at first, but it feels like 75% of the time TSA still makes me take my laptop and tablet out of the flip out. Now I just keep a laptop sleeve in the main compartment. Otherwise, I really love the features of the backpack. I can carry a nights worth of clothes and my work stuff just fine. I also didn't expect to love the slash pocket as much as I do. I would love if they redesigned this bag keeping everything the same but with a top loading laptop compartment.

I bought this product to suit my active on-the-go lifestyle. I like the different compartments as I love to keep things organized. I also like the laptop area that opens fully to allow easy access during travel. It is however lacking some things. The chest strap is way too high, sits uncomfortably and doesn't take much pressure off the shoulders. It really needs a hip strap to take the load off, but doesn't have one. The water bottle holder allows my bottle to fall out constantly.

Sturdy and durable. Well made. Water bottle pocket, too small/narrow.i carry a 40 oz hydro flask daily. Won't fit. Main pocket nice and deep, but could be, from looking at the sides, wider. I use this backpack everyday for work. It definitely holds up well. Kinda small main pocket for my needs, barely gets my lunch bag and drinks in without smashing something, either front to back or top to bottom. I will say, over all I do like it. My other gripe would be I didn't get the free shipping that was advertised, so for what the bag does for me, it cost too much. I had a Dakine backpack for less than half the price and it was actually perfect.

I travel a lot and was looking for a new bag for carry on that would allow me to back a couple days of clothes and accessories, something a little bigger than my current backpacks, this one was actually smaller than the ones I have so was very disappointed in the size, the bag itself is well made, I do not like how shallow the side pocket for your water bottle is I use glass bottles and it would fall out and break and the bigger bottles wont fit at all, so if you are looking for a bag for travel that will hold enough stuff for at least a weekend, keep looking.

I bought this bag as an everyday bag. It functions well for everyday use the straps are thin and become uncomfortable if you are carrying heavy items. I traveled with this bag for a week in Myanmar, and although it fit _a lot_ of things in it (I think it's a 30L bag), the shoulder straps are really thin and became really uncomfortable. Even in everyday use, I found carrying a 15" laptop can be quite uncomfortable as well. If they can thicken the padding, this bag would be great. In a summary, if you need a stylish bag where you need to carry a lot of light things, this is ideal. However if you are carrying some heavier items, you may want to also look at other options as well.

It's a nice bag, high quality, and I got compliments, even from my dad. On my first trip, I appreciated all the pockets--well designed and a big step up from my previous travel bag. But the other reviewers are right: there's something wrong about the pocket that's supposed to hold the water bottle. Even having been warned by those comments, I still lost my nice stainless steel water bottle on the first vacation, about 3 days into the trip. I won't drink from plastic bottles, so I had to waste time and $ shopping for a replacement water bottle mid-trip. I feel like I should be reimbursed from Timbuk2 for the cost of the replacement water bottle. And now, of course, I can't rely on that "feature," which had been one of the selling points. arg! Why is it so hard to buy a product that is well designed, all around?

This bag is overall very nice looking and practical bag. couple of things that I would design the bag differently is: 1. I wish there was some sort of grip pad on the bottom side of the bag, so it would stand up better and won't slide around. 2. Because the bag doesn't have any wear pad/grip pad on the bottom, I hand the bag behind my chair. and this makes it hard to get the laptop out of the sleeve because the shoulder strap gets in the way.

The bag is too flimsy. It needs more structure. Also, getting into the computer compartment is a pain since you have to go around the straps. Needs a little love, but it's a nice backpack.

I bought this for a recent business trip and found the bag uncomfortable and off balance. I'm a single shoulder backpack slinger and found that this bag wasn't made for me. My laptop and weighty items all sat low in the bag causing the back to feel heavier than I'd expect. It's certainly a well made bag but I wish I hadn't catalog ordered it. Despite the TSA friendly monicker the TSA wasn't having the laptop left inside. and opening the back compartment is a bit of a pain. After one trip I'd probably trade it in for something better organized and balanced.

I have enjoyed using the pack for my daily commute, but less so when biking. The bag rides up a bit on my back while in the riding position. This alone would not be a big deal, but it also causes the straps to dig into my neck. I love the bag while I am walking with it, but think the top part of the straps could use some improvement.

The back back is great except I bought it in Feb and the back back straps are already fraying. The drawstrings on the zipper rip off when you close your backpack
