I've been a competitive runner for over 30 years and these shoes are "hands down" the best pair of running shoes I've ever had. They are light, comfortable, and make you feel like you are floating. Through the years I have suffered multiple injuries. I have developed a chronic Achilles Tendinopathy that has not improved with cold or hot therapy, TENS unit, steroid injection, Physical Therapy, or Stretching exercises for the last three years. Even though I want to go back to running Marathons, the pain has been to severe. Since I started wearing these tennis shoes, the pain has diminished dramatically. I hope that I can finally recover, and go back to running Marathons and Ultra Marathons. In my opinion, these shoes are a "must have" for any runner.

I typically do not write reviews, but after running in the Hoka CliftonsI thought it was good time to start. I purchased the Hoka's about 3 weeks ago after the advice of one of my friends and they have truly changed my running life. I have tried the most expensive Brooks (Glycerin 12) and Asics (Nimbus 17) and after running about 2 miles on the treadmill my shins and knees began to hurt to the point where I needed to stop. Currently with Hoka's I have been able to beef of my weekly milage to 14-16 miles and decrease my running times with no noted running pains. I am 6'4" and 245 lbs and these are the best shoes on the market for bigger guys wanting to run!

I begged myself not to fall for the Hoka hype but while training for a mini in October, I developed pretty severe hip pain and needed a quick fix. I swallowed my pride and went for the Clifton's. After over 100 miles, I simply could never go back to a 'traditional' runner. The weight, cushion, and surprisingly, the stability are incredible. By far the best running shoe I've ever had in 20 years of trying them all. They are worth every penny and I've already bought two more pairs. By the way, I'm 5'9, 180 and run 30-40 miles a week.

The best running shoes I've ever had. They don't look good but they're awesome. I used to run with Mizuno and had all the Prophecy until 3, like 6 pairs total. I also had Creation 13 and 15. Now I'm so glad I tried this Hoka. They are super light, you feel running on clouds. I feel I run a lot faster with zero pain.

These shoes are like running on a pad of marshmallows! These are one of the lightest and most shock absorbing running shoes I've ever owned. I've owned Brooks, Saucony, Nike, and Reebok. The only bad thing is my right-footed insole keeps moving back when exercising. Thank goodness two pairs of inserts came with 'em.

I really wanted these to work. They have the look I wanted along with the reputation for excellent cushioning. Unfortunately the shoes are not wide enough for me and they do not offer wide widths. Nike Air Pegasus was my shoe for many years but the newest version lacks that sweet cushioning I need. So in my search for cushion I ordered a lot of different shoes from Zappos (thank you Zappos for this great service) and New Balance fresh foam boracay seems to be the ideal pillowy shoe I've been searching for. If Hokas ever decide to accommodate those of us with wide feet, I love to own a pair.

This seems like a comfortable shoe. I have a high arch and narrow heels with a wider forefoot. This shoe accommodates those nicely. But with the high arch supinated foot I need to be able to pronate. This shoe unfortunately did not feel like it would allow it. I found I needed to go a half size up to feel the best. I will look at other Hoka models to see if there is one a little more suitable. Other than this, the shoe met most of my needs.

Purchased these after researching the best running shoes for lower leg and knee issues. I have patella tendinitis in one knee and my right lower leg/shin/instep becomes severely inflamed after short distances on pavement. Have tried a number of other brands incl. Asics, Mizuno, Nike, NB. So far these are the only shoes I can run in comfortably.

I am a bigger guy who just recently found a love for running and even started a Facebook page called Big Guys Running Club. At first I started off with normal running shoes that everyone gets. Then I was told to try Books which I did my first 10K in and they were fantastic. Then I bought these shoes and WOW what a difference. Being bigger then the typical runner I need every advantage I can get and these cut a minute off my mile time on the first run. These will be the first recommendation to my member who need the extra cushion and the advantage of only 7.7oz per shoe. I am hooked and can't wait to see how much more I can cut off my time with these shoes.

These are my knee-saving super shoes. I am going on 60 and over the last 30 years run to relieve stress. Unfortunately, my 250 lbs shifted the stress from my mind to provide stress on knees. Hokas let me run again without pain. I run in Cliftons now as they are lighter (and less expensive) while still providing the cushion I need. Also have Bondis for longer runs, but they are noticeably heavier and wider on the road. Cliftons are the best overall, but they are revisioning these soon, so if you try them out and like them, get a couple pairs.

Believe the Hooka hype. all the reviews of walking on marshmellows, pillows, and clouds had me very interested. When I tried them on I had to laugh to myself because they were incredibly bouncy. zIt is an amazing shoe and the cushioning was better than any shoe I ever bought. They look a little funny but don't let that stop you.

Make sure you get the correct size and then they are amazing. I am the worst runner in my family. But we all wear these and some of us run half marathons. Yes, they look a little awkward but the improvement on my knees is worth it. My speed and distance have both improved.

The Clifton by Hoka One One is a great shoe. It has super combination of very thick foam sole and midsole with a fairly low rear heel strike. This design keeps my shins from hurting and the comfort when the foot hits ground is so good that I am able to move faster as if floating. I also like the color and design of these Hoka's. My only complaint is the insole has a tendency to bunch up towards the heel of the shoe especially if running barefoot. This is because the insole is so very thin and has a little friction on the foot which pulls it out of place while running. Other than this one little issue, this is the perfect shoe.

These are one of the best pair of running shoes I've ever had, if not the best (and I've had many over the years). I had been trying to shake off plantar fasciitis for months, with marathon training looming. It may have been a total coincidence, but these made a huge difference and I'm now running pain free. So comfortable, and I did not have to break them in at all. The first time I took them out for a run was a hilly 10 miler, and I was so excited about how my feet felt when I got home I nearly cried.

I am a primarily a Brooks PureProject man, but I have a number of different shoes in my arsenal for different types of running. I have several hard-core running friends that initially balked at the Hoka as a trainer and racer, but I didn't let that deter me from giving them a spin. The bottom line is; I'm sold. The Cliftons are a great shoe, wear well, and provide the support, responsiveness, and flexibility you need in a solid road shoe. As with any running shoe, get at least a half size larger than you wear in a street shoe; always a good practice for runners. The Clifton is an alternate racer for me and the beauties have worked just dandy up to a full without any issues. I am even wearing a pair this month in Boston. They are a high quality shoe with a seamless upper and the Meta-Rocker technology is cool. They have a relatively low drop and, of course, the pillowy ride is righteous (flip people off if they give you any business about energy return. I would dare say that some of my friends are just shy of the elite-level ~ 2:30ish fulls and they don't have an issue with "energy return" with these shoes.) A few small cautions/issues that I will mention that should not deter you from snagging a pair of these. They run narrow, like most Hokas; be aware. After I converted a friend or two, some of them physically cut out a section of the toe box upper (pinky-toe side) because they love the shoe, but have wide feet (those kooky Altra converts.) Also, the primary foot-bed insert has a tendency to bunch and can get annoying on long runs (you know how it is, even if anything is off slightly, it gets in your mind and works you.) It won't create hot spots or a blister, but something to be aware of. I would suggest replacing it with the smaller insert supplied with the shoe. The paper-thin tongue is also a bit dicey for me, but a here-to-stay staple of most lightweight racers. It doesn't really move around much (I was really spoiled with the clam-shell tongue and lacing system of the PureConnect 2s; the 3s and 4s blow, but that is for another day). Lastly, I would not recommend wearing them without at least a lightweight racing sock. They are definitely not like my Connects that I wear without socks. There is a small seam that runs vertically on the medial and lateral sides of the inside the shoe. It will rub a bare foot. Those are the only issues with the shoe in my opinion. I could get more technical about it, but the bottom line is that they will always be in my running toolbox. My rating would be a 4.7/4.8 simply due to the width and bare foot issues, but a very solid shoe that holds up quite well for several hundred miles.

Believe the hype! These are hands down the most comfortable, lightweight, and well-cushioned shoes I ve ever owned. I absolutely love them and I already want a second pair. They are game changing shoes. I used to run but stopped due to chronic plantar fasciitis. I recently decided that I wanted to take some long walks and heard that these shoes were very well cushioned. They surpassed expectations. It s like walking on a cloud. They are soft yet stable. I was on my feet all day at a festival the other day and at the end of the day my feet weren t remotely sore. These shoes are so cushioned that I got lured into going for a couple runs. Both times my feet felt great. My legs hurt but no pain in my feet at all. I ve tried regular running shoes, minimalist shoes, and now maximalist running shoes. I m convinced that maximalist is the way to go, especially if you suffer from plantar fasciitis.. Even if you don t suffer from foot pain I think you d benefit from these shoes for long runs and/or as a recovery day shoe. My mom is a walker and she got a pair of these and had the same experience. She now wears them most of the day just because they make her feet feel so good. Also, they look good too. I was afraid they d look strange with all that padding. I don t know about other models but the Clifton looks pretty much like a normal running shoe. I d say they look sharp even. If you re looking for a lightweight, comfortable, and extremely cushioned shoe for running, walking, or just knocking around you won t be disappointed with the Clifton by Hoka One One.

Exactly what I was looking for with a running shoe. No more minimal shoes for me. Great support and cushion. A heel spur no longer is an issue with the Clifton. Excellent. Went with Orange since least 'crazy' style. Would like a little less Bazinga!
