I wanted to love this jacket, but it just does not fit well. It seems larger than other North Face down coats in medium that I have. Plus the fall is poor in that the bottom bunches up instead of falling straight.

This coat is so stylish, and I got so many compliments on it. It's incredibly warm, too. However, after using it for only one winter, the down filling began to shed intolerably. Anytime I took the coat off, I was literally covered in feathers. I'm not kidding--literally covered. I contacted TNF Customer Service, and I was told to ship the coat (at my own expense) to TNF offices for them to evaluate the product. In the middle of winter. Shortly thereafter, that annoying, inconvenient little badge on the left arm got hooked on my purse and tore off, leaving a gaping hole in the arm. So problem solved, I guess. I ended up buying a Thermoball Hooded Parka to replace it, which I love. My husband, my kids, and I only own TNF jackets and coats. We're very pleased with the quality of every other piece of TNF outerwear we've ever worn, but this particular coat just wasn't up to the same standards. And I was disappointed in TNF's proposed remedy. If the coat is so obviously defected, why should all of the inconvenience be placed on me--the purchaser? These aren't cheap pieces of outerwear, after all.

I've had this coat 3 years and I wouldn't recommend. I live in NYC. I have to layer underneath it like crazy just to stay warm, and even then it doesn't do a great job. The hood just keeps the head warm, but it doesn't protect your face at all -- the slightest flakes will get in your face and become very bothersome. When it is even drizzling, the coat gets wet, and then SMELLS gross. I wish I never bought this coat. I'm presently looking for a shell that I can actually make the investment worthwhile.

I just recently moved from Washington state to the Chicago area, so I bought this for the cold winters. Sadly, it was much, much lighter than I had expected so I had to return it. I think this would work for more mild winters. It's certainly a beautiful, long jacket, but it would require several layers to withstand the weather where I'm currently at.

I got this coat as a birthday present and last winter was the first year I wore it! I absolutely loved it and felt that it was functional and stylish... flash forward to this year.... out of the blue one day I notice feathers blowing in the wind as I'm walking to class. I look down to find a hole of about 2 inches on my left shoulder, where the north face metal logo is, I was totally upset because I have no idea what happened, but all of a sudden it feels like my coat is falling apart... I now have tape on it to cover the hole but for the price tag, I would've hoped that I could've worn this coat for years!

i have a couple of NF jackets that i love. totally worth the money. but they missed the boat on this coat. it's not warm enough. and i live in vancouver. i can't imagine wearing this in the cold prairies or in the mountains. i had to return it and buy a long puffy down jacket from MEC. i'm sad about that: i love NF quality.

This coat was very disappointing. The fit is flattering and feminine and the length is nice, but the coat is thin and not warm at all. If the fill power of the down were higher, the thinness would not really be a problem. However, a thin, light coat with 550 fill power down translates to very little warmth. Also, this coat is lacking on features that increase comfort, such as a fleece-lined neck and cuffs. The dapple grey color and the satin lining are very pretty, but for the price I expected a warmer coat. You are definitely paying for the North Face name rather than a quality parka.

So this coat seems to be selling well right now, so I thought I'd take the plunge and order it??_.YUCK!!! It's NOT trendy, modern, or fashionable at all!! I'm not even sure if MY MOM would even like it!!! (??_and I'm 44 yrs old, size small, mom of 3, an artist, and love following fashion trends). The ONLY "pro" of this coat is that it is thicker/better quality than the metropolis style (and they are both 550 fills, but this one is thicker and feels warmer). Between the "diamond" stitched pattern, covered zipper, non-flattering fit, and hidden logo, I couldn't get this back to the store fast enough! ??_and I own SEVERAL North Face jackets! This one is NOT a keeper for my collection!

It says that this coat is 550 fill, but I doubt that. I bought the coat last April and wore it for the first time in November on a trip to Germany. The temps were in the 30s and 40s, but it did not keep me warm at all, even while wearing long underwear, slacks, turtleneck, wool sweater, hat, and gloves. Looks good, but not sufficient for winter weather.

I bought this coat as a replacement for an older Metropolis model, which was wearing out. The issue is not so much the fit, which is acceptable, but there is a problem with the lining. It seems to be releasing a weird form of dust, which is making family members sick, and the lining fabric has a sticky feel to it. It seems to get worse when it is washed, even in dilute 7th Generation detergent. I had to buy a less-expensive long parka with a conventional lining. Note that our other North-Face jackets do not seem to have this problem, only this model. It has been banished to the garage. If anyone has a fix for this, please E-mail me.
