This is the best winter coat I have ever purchased! It is super light weight but still keeps you warm!!!

This coat is awesome! I just bought it for Christmas and I can't take it off (even though it's not even cold yet in Boston weirdly enough). It's so comfy and warm and fits perfectly. I'm 5'4" 125 lbs and I bought a small, nervous it would fit kind of tight but it doesn't! I'm glad I went with it. I also bought the charcoal grey color and absolutely fell in love with it. It's not too dark but not too light either. If you're looking for a well fitting coat that doesn't make you look like the abdominal snowman (we've all been there, not cute), then this is it!

Was disappointed to have to return the coat for a larger size as the arm/chest/shoulder area runs small. I like to wear layers of clothing underneath but there isn't room to do this unless you order a size up.

This coat is very stylish and I love that it is not shiny. The coat is extremely warm. My only complaint is that I wish the sleeves were longer but I have very long arms. It would be cool if North Face began to put sleeves with hold thumbs inside of their coats like Lola has. That way even if the sleeves on the coat are a bit short, the inner shell is good.

Originally I received a size M...the size I almost always wear, regardless of the brand. Across the bust was so constricting and tight, I would never have been able to wear anything other than a t-shirt or cotton button down underneath. Forget a sweater. The rest of the coat fit well and I didn't feel enormous in it because there is some shape and styling to it. I ended up returning it and got the size L. It arrived today: more roomy and more room in the bust area, but still....seems like it would have been smart to put vents in the back where the arms attach to the coat to give some more room to move arms about or give those of us greater than a size C cup some room. Still, I love it and I hope to use it a lot this winter. I don't know if it is super warm yet or not, as today was the first 30 degree morning. I would recommend this coat, with reservations about the fit in the chest area for larger busted women.

Haven't had the chance to wear this outside yet, but I'm looking forward to it. It fits well and is more stylish than your average winter down coat.

I have purchased Triclimate coats and also previously owned a Metropolis parka which differs slightly from this one. I just bought this one (Miss Metro) in grey and like some of the subtle differences from the Metropolis. This one has more of the diamond quilting which I like compared to the squares. Also, the exterior fabric on this one seems more durable. The metropolis was a stain MAGNET, which lead to washing often which will wear down the material more quickly. This one is also more fitted, so it's fashionable and feminine. I like the interior material, it's soft and warms quickly. I am usually a Medium but tend to buy winter coats a size larger so that I can layer (I live in Minnesota). The sleeves are long which is great and the length is perfect. I love the adjustable hood. I haven't yet worn it out in the cold, but I'm sure I won't be disappointed! To the person who said that it was extremely flammable and gave it a one-star rating, you are special. :)

I am so excited to wear this! I live in a town that has been rated one of the coldest places in the U.S. &this coat is perfect. It is not uncommon to have -20F with a windchill of -40F. The warmth and protection will be perfect & I love the hood! Bring it on old man winter...I am ready!

I've been looking for a North Face jacket for 3 years. Every time I went to buy one they were already sold out. I first purchased the Gotham parka but returned it for this one because I wanted a coat that was stylish, figure flattering, and WARM. I'm 5'2 and weigh about 112 lbs. I was choosing between this and other North Face jackets but was told this was one of the warmest (hence the price). I'll need it here in Rochester, NY!

I got this coat to replace a 10 year old Metropolis. I was nervous about the sizing after reading the reviews and got a size larger than my Metropolis. I'm glad I did! I found the coat tight across the back and needed the extra space for layers. Despite having the same length measurements, the Miss Metro feels shorter and tends to ride up. Overall, I like it better. I got the burnt olive and the color is much prettier in person!

I resisted buying a NF coat because I knew that they run small and are pricey. However, my old down coat from another maker failed, after only 1 year, and I was lucky to find one black coat in this style at a NF store. I was pleasantly surprised that the shoulders and arms were reasonably sized; still, I cannot fit a jacket under this coat, only a light to medium weight sweater. Having said that, it is very warm, and it us sized more generously than the other NF I tried.

Usually I take a L and had to return for an XL. Gave 4 stars because sleeve has no cuff to stop wind.

I really liked this coat -- until I tried the 'Gotham' parka. I think this just fit too long on me and too tight in the hips for my comfort - although it did look nice (I'm 5'7" and size XL). Overall I think this is a great choice if you would like a longer coat, but I want to be able to sit down easily on public transit and not have any issues walking around or dealing with a too-bulky coat in buildings. I really liked the quality of this coat, however - it had a nice flap over both the zipper and the pockets, and I liked the more matte (versus shiny) look of the coat overall.

I just ordered this coat and wore it for the first time this morning when the temperature was 16 degrees (real feel 5!). Coat feels oddly lightweight (which is good).. seemed warm, not AS warm as I assumed a North Face coat would be. But I wasn't freezing nor was my body really cold. As for everyone saying this runs small, I don't agree. I almost ordered a Small, but went with my gut and got the XS. Thankfully I did because the XS is still a little big on me (I'm 5'4" and 125 lbs).

I love this coat for its lines and for the baffling. It is much more attractive than the Metropolis in my opinion. NF doesn't seem to have incorporated chevron baffling into their long coats and I do think that is the most flattering of all so this is the best option from them for now. However, because it is cut to be more fitted it doesn't leave a whole lot of room for layering underneath. I wore it out with temps in the 20s and had two long sleeved t-shirts layered underneath and found that I was still cold and I actually like the cold. This definitely requires a merino wool base layer at minimum. Since I didn't want to be resigned to only wearing fitted and thinner layers underneath I sized up. I am normally a very comfortable medium in NF (and sometimes a small). However, I bought the medium and the large in this to compare and am sticking with the large. The medium fits but doesn't leave much room for layering. Because it is more of a fitted cut, sizing up doesn't look too silly. The downside is that the overall length is more than I would like. I do not think it is as worm as it could be considering the price but I do like that it doesn't bleed down. I like the matte black as others tend to have a bit of a sheen to them. Others had complained about arms being tight but I do not see them as being small or tight in the slightest.

I recently ordered this jacket for myself. I always take a size medium, but in this coat I need a size large. The arms are fine with a light top on, but if you put on a sweater or heavier layer, the arms will be much too tight. Overall, the coat looks sharp with just the right amount of puffiness. The length is about 2' above my knees (I'm 5'7").

I had this coat in the brown for the last seven years and have to finally replace it. I tried this coat again, thinking that it may have been updated and be more flattering or feminine now - unfortunately, it is still a pretty boyish cut. It is a super comfortable, warm coat but I am looking for something different these days.

Great for winter wear. It keeps you really warm. Style is great. I was little afraid that it was going to be little to long for my petite 5'3 frame but it wasn't. Only thing is that I think S-runs little bigger and XS runs too small.

I tried on several north face jackets. This one fit me in a size large which is true to what I usually wear. I disagree with the tight arms on this jacket - no problems here and I have broad shoulders and larger arms. This jacket is shaped more like a bell at the bottom giving it an a-line look and is more feminine that the NF Metropolis. It is also warmer than the NF metropolis...it has an addition liner later sewn in so its more wind proof. It's very light weight and comfortable. I'm happy with my purchase and expect to wear this for several years in cold Chicago.

I recently ordered several coats in various styles and sizes. I am a shirt size XL, but I prefer to order up in outerwear for layering purposes. To my disappointment, this coat does not come in an XXL. However, had it fit, I would have loved it. I did not notice it being tighter in the arms as previously mentioned. It was much warmer and higher quality feeling than the North Face Metropolis. I ended up going with the Marmot Montreal.
I'd also recommend:

This jacket is very warm and well made. I order it in grey and color is nice and bright. It looks great with purple or green scarf. I'm 5'9 and weight 145 lbs and I purchased in medium. Small size was too tight and medium is little bit baggy on me. I kept it because I need warm jacket for crazy winters in Chicago and I have extra space for heavy sweater.
