Very comfortable shoe made in the USA! This is the first pair of dark chili colored shoes I have purchased and I have received many compliments.

Very impressed with the quality and the fit of these shoes. Put them on and worked for 8 hours with no problems. Highly recommend.

Get all leather shoes. They will last 10+ years! I typically wear a 10.5 athletic shoe but needed a 10.0 in these. I have been getting compliments from many people and the color is a wonderful light brown that really pops. The arches are adequate. There isn't much cushion, but most dress shoes don't have them. These are clearly more formal than a "working" shoe... but then again, I've never tried.

I bought the beautiful footwear in this walnut color and the black color mainly because they are still made here in our country the USA. Plus these shoes are made with very highly quality leather that doesn't crease so badly.

I received unexpected compliments on this pair of shoes.

I bought this shoe for my son's wedding, and it's exactly what I wanted. As always AE shoes provide all day comfort right out of the box. No blisters from break-in, and no band-aids needed for my heels. This is my 9th pair of AE's. I always order the same size and the fit is spot on every time. The best shoe in America (and made in America) in my experience.

This is my fourth pair of the AE Carlyle Plain Toe Oxfords, and eleventh AE shoe in my collection. I have one in Bourbon, one in Brown, one in Chili, and one in Oxblood (though the Chili and Oxblood are basically identical). It's my favorite style as it's simple, goes with anything, and is just flat out a functional dress shoe. I find them to be extremely comfortable, and they break in after about 2-3 wears. The pair I'm wearing today, feel like running shoes they fit my foot so perfectly.

i wear a size 13 E and i usually just buy my Allen Edmonds in a retail store and settle for width D as it has typically been "good enough" However now that I have gotten a true width E. I'll only be buying them online. The shoes fit so perfectly and are very stylish. I highly recommend.

I purchased the Carlyle in black for use as a shoe for formal occasions. I figured I would not be wearing it much as a plain-toed black shoe is quite far on the spectrum of formality. However, from the get-go I found this shoe to be very comfortable and stylish. So now I dress up just a little bit more to accommodate it in my rotation. By the Brannock device, I am an 8.5D heel-to-ball or 8E by length. For me the 108 last fits perfectly in 8.5D. The 65 last is a little more roomy in comparison, and the 1943 is tighter at the same size. (I wear 8E in loafers and other laceless shoes). I like to occasionally change up my laces for seasons and occasions just to have some fun and this shoe is a winner with colored laces. Although in the photo on line the finish is a little bit matte, this shoe polishes up well and can really shine. In black with a high polish this is a good choice for black/white tie and tuxedo wear or getting married in. It is a great alternative to patent leather, which, unfortunately tends to look "rented". In contrast, the natural leather of this shoe conveys a little more style and fashion savvy. Think James Bond versus Wedding Crasher. It is also a great business shoe to pair with more formal suiting. I can imagine it is also stunning in oxblood and chili for more causal wear. I own 8 pairs of AE shoes and in writing this review I may have just talked myself into another purchase!

I'm normally a 14D, but after trying some AEs in-store, I decided to shave some length and order these in 13EEE with a superfeet green insole. A bit of a gamble, but with the addition of the insole, the fit couldn't be more perfect.

Good fit and excellent quality. Great with tux. Just does not go out of style regardless of trends.

This shoe is my favorite style that AE currently produces. It is a timeless classic that can be dressed up or down. I currently own three pair and will undoubtedly buy more in the future.

I've had the Carlyle in black for about 1.5 years. The break-in period was short and it really is a comfortable, classic black dress shoe. It's conservative and clean, but with a slight touch of pop. Fits to size.

I am a chucks kind of guy in general and when am chic I wear driving loafers. I needed to buy proper shoes and after doing lots of research Allen Edmonds seemed to be the best deal in terms of quality, build and value for money. I went for these plain toe oxfords because they work well on a suit and also on a tuxedo. I received my pair and I wasn't disappointed. They ooze class and hand made, very sleek, very classic, and super comfortable. I wore them for a wedding where I had to dance all night and for a business event where I had to be on my feet all day. I am really impressed and surprised by how comfortable they are, especially for someone like me who is not used to wearing formal shoes. The only reason quality is not 5/5 is because some very minor details werent taken care of like a piece of hanging thread somewhere or leather finishing in a tiny part but super tiny. I am picky :) I immediately proceeded to buy some AE loafers and they are on their way now. I am expecting similar spectacular hand made quality and high levels of comfort, will review those after wearing for a while.

Love this shoe. As with all Allen Edmonds shoes, it is solidly crafted, has a comfortable/great fit, and timeless style. It's a good-looking shoe that enhances any wardrobe. I highly recommend it.

What a beautiful plain toe oxford! I have it in black, but I want more pairs in different colors. The leather is supple. Beautiful grain. Perfect fit. I am a 10eee, but the 9.5eee is a fit for me. Plus, these finely crafted handmade shoes are made here in the USA. What a plus! I feel it's my duty - as an American - to buy quality products made here. Black carlyles matched to a Hickey Freeman suit, now that's American class.

Solid dress shoe that is very comfortable. Took little time to break in.

Can't go wrong with these and they make an impression.

I was told about Allen Edmonds shoes from a nephew. I looked at plenty of shoes but am so glad that I went with these. They were comfortable from the first time I put them on my feet. These are absolutely top quality shoes! I am now a huge fan! When I buy shoes again, they will definitely be Allen Edmonds! And they look great!!!
