This thing is fantastic I bought two of the roughly 6 months ago and have already taken it to Parma, Rome, Dublin, Amsterdam, Bruges and London using public transportation and walking through cobblestone streets and this thing handles it with ease. My family travels with me and my 3 year old sits on the bag as I cart it around I am amazed at how well built and sturdy every aspect of these suit cases is. Absolutely love these they are a bit pricey but well worth the high price tag.

I love this bag. After much debate I finally broke down and bought it. If the price point is the only reason you are debating on buying, I think you should just go for it. I wanted this bag for years before I finally bit the bullet. I do not regret buying nor do I miss the money. I love traveling knowing that all my items are secure. With a lifetime warranty I do no anticipate buying another carryon on for quite some time. Bottom line if you are considering buying this bag, just make it happen. You will not regret it!

I love this suitcase. Very sturdy, rolls around great, and fits perfectly in an overhead bin.
*Story Time: My bf and I went to Hawaii for a week and this is the only suitcase I packed for us (I also carried a small bag, but it was mostly for toiletries). After having rolled up all of our clothes and shoes, my bf started to doubt this bag, but when we arrived on the plane and the suitcase fit perfectly into the overhead bin, all my gloating about this bag was on point and well deserved.
We are getting a second one for him.

One reviewer gave this bag demerits for having two off-center gripping straps at the opposite end of the bag from the wheels instead of the more common extendable pull-along handle. Although I was a bit concerned about this when I bought it, I quickly got used to it and actually believe it is probably a more durable and lightweight solution for such a large (and potentially very heavy when loaded) bag. Try before you buy if possible, but I think this is a PLUS rather than a minus.

This bag makes airline travel much easier!! This is the maximum size of carry-on allowed on most airlines. Fits easily in the overhead bin of a B737. The wheels & construction of this bag is high-quality! Don't get the 4-wheeled luggage made by other brands... those wheels are bound to break eventually. These red wheels on TNF Rolling Thunder bags are well-built and better protected to withstand harsh conditions and treatment... whether it be airport floors or cobblestone streets! Also, the telescoping carry-handle is very sturdy and can withstand plenty of torque and abuse as you scramble to your next gate.
My Personal Travel Tips:
1. Roll all of your clothing garments before packing to maximize storage capacity inside your bag.
2. Pack all TSA-approved liquids in a plastic zip-loc bag last to easily remove at Security Check.
3. Never check-on your bags if you can just do carry-on! I only travel with this bag and a backpack! Combine this light travel bag with your TSA Pre-Check approval, and you'll feel like VIP getting from parking lot to your gate in minimal time.
I am considering buying more of this bag in case TNF ever discontinues, I know I'll be set for life. haha

Just got back from a 10 day trip to Japan with this bag which performed exactly as expected. My initial thoughts were that it was heavy, but the quality of the materials added to the weight as well as the quality of the construction of the bag. Let me just say it's tough. I really appreciated that it was able to stay up on its own with the bag full and on various city settings. Moving around with it was very smooth and didn't have any other issues to state about its movement. The bag was a little large for this last trip, however I did appreciate the extra space when we were returning home and had acquired items to bring back. I will probably get the 22 size for more practical travel at a later date.

I travel constantly for work. I only carry-on, although I am required to gate-check my bag occasionally. When a bag fails I throw it out, even if it has a warranty because I can't be without a bag for more than 2-3 days. I've purchased many brands, high-end and value brands.
I originally purchased the 36" roller duffle for a long, gear intensive trip. The bag held 75 lbs of gear and held up better than any other I've ever owned. I was so impressed that I purchased the carry-on version as well. The canvas that the bag is made out of is heavy-duty, it can be dragged across the ground by baggage handlers without wearing through.
The most impressive component of this bag is the telescoping handle. I've had issues with handles, but the one on this bag is strong. I've fully extended the handle and picked my fully loaded bag up using the extended handle and tossed the bag into the trunk of a cab, luggage cart at the airport, valet cart at hotels, etc. I wish TNF would show close-ups of the handle, it's truly impressive.
The bottom line: this is your bag if you want the absolutely very best built carry-on, with no compromises.

Just took this on a three week business trip across Asia covering everything from major cities to back country roads. Loved the durability of my base camp duffel combined with the ease of the roller wheels to make getting around airports, train stations, and hotels a breeze. Compartment organization is simple, functional, and effective, and the volume of this bag was more than enough to accommodate all my needs for the lengthy travel.

I've had the whole set of this luggage (large and carry-on) and after going through old suitcases every few months, I am running on almost a year strong with this set. It's large open compartment lets me store my clothing and equipment with ease. The clasps outside help tighten the flap down snugly to accomodate the volume of "stuff" packed away. I have yet to fill this over capacity for one of my trips. My only complaint is that the cosmetic plastic covering the main flap is very thin and is scuffed off to reveal the tough nylon underneath that is unscathed from the trauma. Yes, I would buy this again. And again.

I was able to pack my ski boots in the side, zippered compartment with room to spare and without taking away space from the main inner compartment. Tons of space. Only went on one ski trip since purchasing, but held up well.

I was assigned by my company in Texas to work in Silicon Valley for 6-8 months, with travel home every month, so I needed gear that could handle 30 days worth of gear for each trip. I am definitely a practical shopper, but found the 30" Rolling Thunder to be the practical bargain. I easily stuffed 7 days of work clothes, 7 days of workout and outdoor gear for walks and hikes, a few pair of shoes, jackets, hats, gloves, and even my CamelBack into this duffle. I added red anodized luggage tags to complete the package, and now I have the most practical as well as best looking luggage on the planet...those traveling through space may have one up on me! ~ Michael

This is, by far, the best piece of luggage I have ever owned. Durable, easy to pack and unpack, easy to see on the baggage claim and rolls super smoothly. Has more capacity then I have had a chance to use. I carry everything I need and still have room for more (& more weight). I know this bag will last me for years and years to come. I will be buying the smaller matching carry on bag also.

Bought for my son who is 16 years old and travelled to Europe for the first time. He found it easy to carry and, although he doesn't pack well enough to save space, he found it roomy enough for 11 days of clothing and even brought back gifts in it. It was a carry on and met all the requirements of TSA, with 22lbs in weight of the 50 lb limit. I was happy with the quality and capacity of the bag.

Love my NF big wheel roller! This is my second one and the first one lasted me over 5 years with an average of 4-5 flights/month. It sat on the tarmac in rain and protected my gear (thankfully!) and when TSA finally roughed it up to the point that there was a small tear, it didn't spread, has been there for over 12 months. Well done and much apprecIted North Face.

Super Stoked on my new bag! Works perfectly for long trips or smaller business trips. Bag is durable which nice and has a waterproof shell. Overall capacity works fine. For the price it is worth it though as the bag is durable.

This is the third one we've purchased to complete a set. Only wish is that they still had the Asphalt Grey/Lantern green color option!

I travel a lot, and I needed a carryon that I don't have to worry about breaking or leaking. The only way to make this bag better is if they added built-in tension straps.
