I have had mine now for a couple of months and can quite comfortable trek with just a t shirt underneath when its 0 degrees. I have poor circulation so can feel the cold more than most so this jacket is a godsend. The elastic on the cuffs could be longer but other than that, its my go to jacket in the winter.

Atom AR Hoody, -WOW!
Why i didnt get this earlier is a mystery, this one really exceeded my expectations.
Its warm and puffy, the cut is a slightly more generous than my Atom LT hoody in the same size, but that is a good thing beacuse it gives me more layering opportunities,
id say its twice as warm as my Atom LT at least.
Both as a stand alone piece or under a shell its great, and it fills the gap where my down jacket fails, and that is in wet and sleet conditions that i often encounter during late fall and early winter.
The hood adjustment and the hem drawcord is also very good.

Awesome jacket! I wore it skiing in 30 degree weather with long sleeve layers underneath and was perfectly warm.
I'm 5'6", 135, and bought a medium to allow room for layering underneath. The sleeves are a bit too long but it definitely gives enough room for a sweatshirt or fleece underneath.

I've now had this jacket for a few years, it's my favorite go-to jacket during the cold days in autumn and spring, and more or less all days in the winter. It's super lightweight and comfortable to wear. It packs enough fibers to keep me warm down to around 0 degrees celcius without any additional layers. If it's very windy og rainy, I just wear it under my Beta AR jacket.
It's been washed and dried many times now, still going strong with no sign of tear and wear. Only down-side is that I have the light-blue color, and it's very easy to see stains and spots on. Not very practical when you have to small kids with muddy shoes and clothes, that you have to pick up now and then :)
It's so good, that I'll get another one. Also I have the Atom LT Hoody, which is similar bit with less fibers - thats my go-to jacket during the warmer days (+10-15 C).
The fit is decent, but I would love to be able to go down to a size L, to get a less roomy fit on the body - but the L is too short on the sleeves, so I have to wear an XL and live with the baggy look. That said, its not super baggy, as it is a mid-layer jacket - but since I'm quite athletic and slim, I would just love it to be a bit more slim fit around the body.

Bought this a year ago and it has succeed all expectation. Decided on the atom rather than the thorium as I live in Scotland and it rains at some point most days. Jacket is warm and surprisingly waterproof if your caught without a shell in a short downpour. It's so light you barely notice it which is remarkable for a jacket with this warmth. I have used it as a stand alone locally, an insulated layer and also a belay for winter Munro's, I'm 6 2, 83kg with a 42 chest and 33 waist. The Large fits my chest but is a bit baggy around the mid section, but I believe this has been improved with the 2020 update leaving me the problem of wanting another.

I bought this because I was thinking about replacing my Atom LT since I layer a lot with my atom lt and i wanted a bit more insulation. What happened after I bought the atom ar was completely unexpected. I really thought the AR was just a bit more warmer than the LT but it actually completely supersedes all of my winter jackets (Yes, my down coats, my multiple wool layers, etc.) I run cold because I'm pretty thin and I ALWAYS layer cause i get cold. However, with the atom AR, I can wear it with a t shirt underneath and be out in sub 30 degree F weather and feel completely which is so foreign to me. I can't recommend this jacket enough, especially the updated version where the hood uses cinches and doesn't utilize the elastic hood like the LT. I'm still shocked that this is now my go to winter jacket and that I don't really have to even layer with this. Highly recommend.

I owned the previous version in the LT. Got this because I needed a slightly warmer layer. The revised longer fit is perfect and the jacket is the perfect amount of insulation for layering in most colder winter activities. Would highly recommend.

I've been wearing Arc'Teryx products for a long time and have come to rely on them to keep me warm (and dry) when outside in varying conditions. Their synthetic insulated garments are simply in a league of their own, and this jacket is no exception. I was looking for an alternative to my Fission SV jacket with a separate layering system, and I tried both this and the Thorium AR for the insulation component. This jacket exceeded initial expectations and can perform as a stand-alone outer layer. It also proved warmer than the Thorium AR when standing still in 30 degrees with only a t-shirt on underneath. I've recently walked along a windy coastline in high 20/low 30 temps with same layer configuration and was quite warm. Only criticism would be that the hood was a tad drafty when cinched, definitely not a deal-breaker though. I've yet to audition it with a hard shell. Lastly, based initial my experience maybe they should rename it the Atom SV.

J'avais le modle Atom LT mais il pouvait difficilement se porter seul en hiver. Et comme seule couche intermdiaire, le LT est limite par temps froid. Le Atom AR est l'idal pour les hivers qubcois! Prix relativement abordable comparativement d'autres produits Arc'teryx.

Did a LOT of homework before purchasing this Atom AR (Enigma). I have puffer style jackets and wanted to try out the new synthetic insulation. This thing is unbelievable. Looks like a 3 season windbreaker with a hood but has the stuff to keep you warm when the temps are in the 20's with snow and wind. I am sure it'll do its duty when it's even colder. I am really impressed. (in case you are wondering - the Enigma is like a dark green/blue

I bought this earlier this year. I ordered a large which fits a little big I think I could of gone with a medium but I really like it.
I have worn it alone and also under my Beta AR jacket.
I love how the wrists are small keeping the jacket off my hands
Warm, breathable and dries fast when wet.

I own a couple of Atom LT jackets and was looking for something for a little more warmth during chillier days on the snow. The jacket provides room for layering, yet doesn't feel or appear bulky. A good stand-alone jacket for a chilly day walking the pups or underneath a shell when touring on cold days. Would definitely recommend :)

I haven't had a chance to use this in cold weather yet so this review is limited to fit and first impressions mostly. I have wanted an AR for ages and the revised version appealed to me, especially the fit and the new hood.
I got this in a small, the same size as I have an Atom LT and SL as well as a Beta LT. The fit is perfect, a little room for layering but still fitted enough to not look bulky with just a t-shirt. I can very easily fit my Atom LT underneath, something I am pleased about as I get very cold when stationary and with lockdown restrictions in the UK there is a lot of sitting outside in the pub/garden in my future this winter if I ever want to socialise again! It will also be perfect for throwing on when taking a break hiking or when camping.
It fits under my Beta LT quite well. I think wearing it like this will be as much warmth and protection as I need for London winters.
I am 5'4" and the length is perfect, it comes down to the middle of my butt, happily covering the small of my back when sitting which should keep me nice and warm.
Finally, I got the Paradox colour. It is neutral enough to go with most other colours, but is still distinctive and interesting.
Overall it is an excellent coat and I am looking forward to the weather getting cooler so I can wear it more.

Initially, I got the Atom LT Hoody, but after trying it out for a couple of short walks in urban, I realised feeling cold in it, since Scottish +6C degrees when windy feels like around 0C I guess, heh.
I got it as a b-day present, but my love happily got me Atom AR instead. What a jacket! It fully suits my needs. Wanted for something versatile for city and nature walks, without too much activity, just walking and while walking I prefer to wear just a top under the jacket. So far tried it within urban in +3C to +11, wearing it indoors too while shopping or getting food, also had a good few hours walk outdoors under not too heavy, but rain, not just drizzle, +7C, with heavy gusts and managed to stay dry and warm, comfortable and happy. I'm very happy. Will definitely get Atom LT too, I liked it trimmer shape. You guys doing an amazing job out there.

Great coat for cold fall days, good windbreaker. Perfect for under laying in winter. I would like the AR without a hood for a more sophisticated look. Nice and light for travelling.

Absolute favorite jacket. From its performance to its style, the atom AR is my go to jacket. I wear it daily and it excels in all circumstances. I love how the jacket can tuck pretty tightly into the sleeve (personally I tend to loose the stuff-sacks). GOOD JOB ARC'TERYX!!! Im definitely coming back!

Due to its comfy fit and fine features, this is a favorite of several of our testers. The low Low profile cuffs and low bulk fit make for an excellent mid-layer, climbing, and cold weather backpacking, hiking or just getting around town. A can't miss pick for cold weather trail running, and stop and go cold activities.

Je recherchais une veste qui pouvait me tenir au chaud, a l'abri du vent et impermeable. Une coupe ajuster, conviens parfaitement pour un style urbain que pour un style actif.

I've been using this as a stand alone cold weather piece or layering with base and shell layers. The warmth, fit, and attention to detail is very nice and easy to adjust when wearing gloves.

I purchased this jacket about 6 weeks ago and have been really happy with it. The fabric is super soft, and seems strong as well. I like that the cuffs are thicker, but not overly tight on my wrists. The size/cut is great too -- 6'3'', 195 lbs, Large fits perfectly. I'm not totally sure how warm it will be come mid-winter in Minnesota, but it definitely will fit the bill most days.

Overall impressions:
I purchased this jacket after an old coworker described theirs as something they never leave the house without. After owning it for the duration of a Northern Colorado shoulder season, I can see why! It's warm enough to comfortably walk my dog in the morning when it's 20 degrees, durable enough to start a day of landscaping, (usually in the 30's) looks good enough to wear to the bar that night, (40's-50's) and it's the perfect coat to throw on after finishing a long trail run.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs under a shell for some lift-served skiing this winter, but I'm pretty confident I'll like it more than another brand's ultralight puffy I've been rocking the past few seasons. It also layers well with a gridded fleece and base layer underneath, but I'm going to save that look for the winter days when temps drop to the teens or below.
Pro's:
-It looks great (color and fit, even though it's not the most trim cut)
-Super comfortable in a wide range of temperatures
-Almost immediately warm (very little "waiting for my body to heat it up first")
-Wind and water resistance
-Durable material
-Doesn't collect as much dog hair as any other jacket I've ever owned does
Con's:
-Some staining. I realize most people aren't going to wear this landscaping, and the majority of the discoloration comes off without much effort, but there are a few spots that seem here to stay.
-I do wish it was a little more breathable, but honestly, I'm a hair away from getting the Atom LT for more active adventures. This jacket is outstanding for most daily activities, but I know I'd get way too warm with a pack on or if I was wearing it on a run.
