Absolutely a favorite piece of gear. Wear it everywhere, from resort skiing on coldest days to ski touring to Haute Route

This was the jacket that made Arc'teryx my company of choice. It is a versatile Jacket that is warm, soft to the touch, and packable. It is warm enough to function as an outer layer and trim enough to be layered. If I was forced to pick only one Arc'teryx item, this would be the easy choice and I know I am not alone.

Incredibly warm and well insulated for how light it is. I live in Minnesota, was outside in -45 windchills and only slightly felt cold on my chest and arms. It's not constricting at all, love the cuffs and the scuba hoody. It's done the job all winter long, easily the best mid-layer jacket I've owned.

I have the Atom LT and decided to get the Atom AR for extra warmth. The temps this week in Iowa went got down to -55. I had a t-shirt and a sweater under the this jacket and was warm. Great piece and would highly recommend it.

I have owned several LTs, and I decided to buy an AR for the extra warmth during the winter, and I have to say it is superb! I've used it on it's own down to to -3 and I've been warm, and my plan is to use it as a mid-layer when it gets really cold. My only concern was how breathable it is, but no problems at all!

I've been shopping for a warm jacket for at least 2 years. My concerns were primarily being cold since I live in Northern Manitoba. I decided to go with the Atom AR considering its price and the versatility it offers. I do consider myself as having poor resistance to cold.
Essentially, this is my -10C (14 F) jacket. I wear it whenever I go outside when it's -10C and under. I normally only wear a T-shirt underneath and I've never been cold. For the last 2 weeks, the temperature here in Manitoba has been below the -20C (-4F) marks and I still only wear the jacket with my T-shirt and I am super comfortable outside (my legs and my face freezing while my body and my arms are comfortably warm). Today the temperature reached -34C (-29F) and the ''feels like'' was -42C (-44F). I'm pretty sure that I would have been comfortable wearing only a T-shirt underneath, but when it's -42 outside it gets pretty cold inside the buildings as well so I wore it over a sweater. I wasn't even close to being cold outside.
I bought this jacket as an everyday jacket for all of my outdoors activities and I've not been disappointed so far. I do wear it as a mid-layer when it is crazy windy with a GoreTex shell and it is more than enough for all the different kinds of temperature I have encountered so far.
Braving the cold with this jacket on is no longer a challenge. I would definitely recommend it for a stand-alone piece if you're afraid of the cold and it fits like a glove as a mid-layer piece.

Along with SmartWool NTS Mid 250, this is the best winter gear I ever wore. It is very light and super warm. I use it for winter hiking below zero degrees Celsius (bellow 32F). Although for around 0 Celsius (32F), it is too hot. Last time I wear it, it was -11 Celsius below zero (12F), heavy windy snow blizzard and with this jacket and just merino base layer I feel comfortably warm. But when I use it around zero Celsius (32F) with no wind, I was really sweating when I climb lots of ladder and hills. So probably for around zero condition the Atom LT is more suitable.

I'd been looking for a standalone winter jacket that I could wear hiking and around town for sometime. Living in the Midwest, USA the winter gets pretty cold, windy, and wet. Well, this jacket fits the bill! I've only had the Atom AR for a about a month, but on my 45 min walks to work lately, this jacket has kept me warm in 20 degrees Fahrenheit, with only a light vest or flannel underneath. It even does a nice job blocking the wind (15 mph).
I've an Atom LT for years, and I'd say that the AR is significantly warmer. The cut and fit of the AR is similar to the LT.

Love my new Atom AR Hoody. Live in the PNW, but also head up to Canada lot, so the LT just wasn't warm enough to cover all the bases. The AR is perfect! Flattering feminine fit. I'm 5'9" 140 lbs and the M fits well. Warmth without the bulk and looking like a bubble (lots of compliments). Only complaint would be that I wish it came WITHOUT a hood. Plan on using this as insulation with a shell (Sentinel) for skiing. The extra hood will be kinda bulky.

Love this jacket. I have wider shoulders than the average 6'1" guy and it fits me very well. I find Arcteryx climbing oriented cuts accommodate my frame better than a lot of other outdoor companies. This jacket is overkill if it's only -10 and you're wearing a shell, but does great with a base layer and a sidewinder when it's colder than -15.

I bought this on a recommendation from a friend, as he has owned an Arc'teryx jacket for nearly a year now. I couldn't quite work out what all the fuss was about until I received mine, and it hasn't dissapointed me so far!
I have taken it on a couple of weekends away and actually wore a jumper underneath to begin with. The temperature was well below 10oC, and I ended up just wearing a T-shirt underneath. When I started to feel cold, I just raised the hood up and was warm again within a minute, as the heat insulation in the hood is brilliant.
Another weekend I was wearing it through torrential rain, and it kept me completely dry throughout.
An excellent product, top quality, and clearly built to last!

Bought the Atom LT after reading a Online review on the jacket.
It's one of my preferred garment I ever owned.
In any season of the year, it's always the first piece of clothing I reach for.

I bought this jacket after having an Atom LT as well. Loved the LT version so naturally I decided to get the AR for the added warmth it provides. This jacket is very warm, it does have a noticeable bulk on it compared to the LT but that's to be expected, yet very similar in comfort. Will fit a fleece under it no problem if needed.

I love this jacket and had been wanting it for a while before purchasing it. I am a member of a Search and Rescue team and am always fighting the battle between being able to have warm enough layers while also not being more weighted down than necessary. This jacket is light, layers easily, and fits well. I have long arms and am very thin, so I have a hard time shopping for clothing. This jacket works well and is very warm.

Bought this as my go to warm mid layer for frigid New England winters. I wore it several times in the winter of 2018 when the temps were -10 Fahrenheit , -30 when windchill was factored. The atom at layered with a Rho AR and the Beta AR did the trick as I post holed up a few local mountains. The jacket is also a great stand alone in the mid teens with just a t shirt underneath. The face appears rather durable as well. Overall amazing piece
