I wear these over a compression base layer, in really cold conditions, when additional insulation is required. Although not really designed for skiing they work well. The sizing seems to be a little out, as I am 6ft, but the even the small is slightly too big. When used for laying, they could really use a zip fly.

This baselayer is very warm and very soft. I use it for low output activity, such as extended periods of tripod photography. The detailing is very good. Seams are rugged and seems very sturdy and the lines makes sense anatomically speaking. The fit is good, unfortunately it is way too large. I am 6'2 175lbs and an L is almost two sizes too large for me, so be aware that the fit is extremely large. The pocket is a nice touch for backup cash for emergency situations. It's not really accessible once you put on your exterior shell of course, so my guess is, that it was designed with this in mind.

Awesome! When you spend a long time walking not chapped between the legs, which is very good when you have to travel long distances to take advantage of good weather! If you are a person who sweats a lot and going to a cool ... This is your thermal underwear for election, continually keeps you dry and warm which is essential if you want a good day in bad weather!! dries very quickly after heavy use and very easy to wash. Thanks to Polartec Power strecth make it very versatile for all types of cold weather activity!

I bought 2 pairs of these fleece bottoms this year. The first ones were as pictured with a narrow waistband and curved seams on the inner thigh. They were perfect! Soft, comfy, warm with a fantastic close fit and a waist that hugged the body with no cold gaps. I was so in love with them I bought a second pair in the same size, different colour. There was no warning that the cut and fit had been revised. The new pair have the same wonderful cozy material, however the fit has changed quite a lot - and not for the better. The fit is a bit looser, instead of a curved seam on the inner thigh and body hugging fit there is a seam at the back of the knees and darts in front and the fabric does no longer lie flat to the skin but can bag a bit. Also, the waist is a looser fit and the wAistband is about 2.5 times as wide. The result is a waist which gaps in the low back during movement. I am not pleased with these changes. The only positive change that was made was that the thigh pocket is slightly larger and I can now fit my (small) phone. Arcteryx is very expensive gear, and it has been worth it for the amazing cut, fit and high quality of the fabric. This is what has built their reputation and justified their prices. I have been told that there is a shift in focus for their fits to be more inclusive and I have experienced this shift in with some newer purchases. I think this is a dangerous path as their excellent attention to functional design and superb cut and fit are what has made their reputation. Looser more generic fitting clothing can be purchased anywhere, please don't lose sight of your niche! My rating of 4 is actually an average mark for two different products. I would give the original design of the Rho AR bottoms a 5, the new design is only 3 in my opinion. I lead winter hiking/snowshoeing outings locally and have recommended the old version of these tights to all of the participants along with other Arcteryx products. While the new version are ok, I would not recommend them for the price.

I bought these winter base layer bottoms several months ago and could wear them everyday. Versatile, warm and nice looking. I commonly wear them to work out at the gym. My only disappointment is that the fabric pills easily.

Break down the walls of fashions gender norms and put these leggings on and go about your life in comfort. Where them around town, free of any shame, be proud of your legs. Too warm to be part of any layering scheme suitable for a climate in which I wish to inhabit, these a basically form fitting sweatpants with one too small pocket. Maybe it is with the excessive use, but I never really understood what people meant by fabrics picking before I wore these, so you may feel little beads of resistance as you run your palms over your now freed thighs, oh well.

These could have been exactly what I've been looking for for years but unfortunately they run quite large and since I already ordered an XS I wasn't able to size down. So unfortunately I had to return them. For taller women who can go down a size they might work out better.

Would you be able to make an atom LT pant for women? I find that there are so many great warm layers for the top half of my body, but for my legs, I just have the options of tights or shells. This could be used for belaying in the cold, or camping in freezing conditions, or if it's breathable, could be worn under the sentinel LT/AR shell. It would be awesome if it either has side zippers for venting heat, or full-length zippers so I can pull them on over my hiking pants without taking off my hiking boots. Patagonia has something of the sort, but without zippers, and their sizes don't fit me well. Mountain Hardware has puffy pants, but I think synthetic insulation would work better for bottoms. A guy friend has the atom LT pants from a few years ago, and he wears them all the time! However, I don't think you sell them anymore, and I can't fit guys sizes.

I live in Squamish BC. average temperature in winter is anywhere between -10c to 5c. I operate in the range from sea level to about 1200 feet but will climb higher to about 2000 feet on rare occasion. I purchased the RHO AR as a base layer to go under my Beta AR pants. I have several merino wool base layer pants ranging from 150 to 200 and wanted something I can use when it is really cold outside. I chosen the RHO AR because I knew as soon as I felt them in my hands they were going to do the job I intended for them. I wasn't disappointed. I recently tested the RHO AR at around -22 under my Beta AR and it was perfect. Mind you, the Beta AR pants over the RHO AR may have contributed to their efficiency. IF you are not wearing Goretex pants over they won't be as efficient but surmise you will still enjoy them alot if you would use a merino 150 base layer underneath you RHO AR to help with the wind coming through. As far as durability it is hard to say because I have only warn my RHO AR about 4 times and washed them 4 times. As it is they look exactly like they were out of the bag, no balling or signs of stitching coming apart. I would like to mention that these are very warm, I mean VERY warm. if you are thinking of using these as your go to base layer with temperature of -10 and above you will be too hot and begin sweating if you are anything like me. I want to mention that I have sensitive skin and some tech garment sometime feels itchy to me. I noticed when I first wear the RHO AR for the first 10 minutes I feel like I want to scratch my legs but as soon as I start moving around this feeling of itchiness slowly disappears. Overall I am very happy with my decision to use the RHO AR as my cold weather base layer.

I recently purchased these as a mid layer to wear underneath my ski pants to replace my fleece and LOVE THEM. I can't say enough amazing things about how warm and cozy these keep me while on the slopes. My only gripe is that they are already pilling like crazy. For $140, the fabric should definitely be improved. Strange thing is I have the half zip in this and it didn't pill at all....

I was looking for a first layer which goes in under my Gamma AR pants for winter camping. I wasn't planning to buy this when I went to the store but when I saw this first layer and touched with my hands, it felt so good! I tried on anyway and it felt even better on the skin! I ended up leaving the store holding this RHO AR Bottom! Just tried on this weekend for winter camping in BC wild where goes to - 5,6 in the night and morning. this base layer kept me so warm all nights and mornings. In the tent I only wore this under sleeping bag, and in the morning and during the day, I wore this under my AR gamma pants or snow pants. I had to sit in the cold weather for a couple hours and my legs were always warm enough. it would be worse nightmare if you are cold in any outdoor activities, right? so I was very happy I found/got this before I went! For your note; I am 120lb and 5'5 and I got Small size. its loose material compare to other " leggings" however, it let me get change in the tent or outside very easily and I could even wear extra thin layer under if I wanted, so I didn't mind at all. Only disappointment was the same as one of other reviewers already mentioned; this layer may get lint balls and pilling occurs quite easily. After only first use- this weekend, it already got some lint balls on the surface . because its the base layer, its rubbed with your mid layer or top pants, which I understand. But I wish I could wear itself alone without any top pants sometimes because it looks stylish itself and I don't want it be used as only first layer but now it already have some lint balls, it will stays as base layer forever . I really recommend to get this for someone who wants to stay warm and I have no regrets! But for $140, maybe the material can be a bit better and improved for the next season .

I absolutely LOVE these pants. Probably one of the best purchases I've ever made. They fit great under my Sentinel pants and I have worn them snowboarding in Jackson Hole when it was -20 F and have still been very warm. They're very breathable as well. The only downside that I'm not too thrilled about (but not a HUGE game changer for me) would be how much pilling they have on them. I've only owned them for about 2 weeks now and wear them to class on cold mornings and wear them boarding almost every other day. Other than that... they are super great!!

Great product!!! Love the material and how smooth the zipper pocket opens and closes. The fabric feels smooth and nice, you can definitely tell it's high quality stuff. Only downside is that they run a little big, if you are a size medium according to their chart go down a size. Feels somewhere between leggings and sweatpants. I'm a size small according to them, but sadly they don't make this in XS. Other than the sizing, it's great! I wear it for snowboarding and when i'm jogging in the fall and winter.

This base-layer pant is a thick and warm pant that's soft and stretchy. It is lightweight and the fit is not too tight. The waist is a bit loose (cannot be adjusted) and there is no fly unfortunately. It's great for layering with a thin pant, such as the Palisade Pant on colder days. Or layering with uninsulated snow pants on very cold days. I would say these pants are equivalent to sweat pants, but much tighter, lightweight, and manages moisture better.

Please please please make these longer! I'm 5'8" and they are a foot too short, which doesn't make sense for winter pants that Ned to keep my legs warm. Otherwise my favorite winter legging. Sad I had to return.

I don't love these as base layer, nor stand alone leggings. These tights are quite warm, thick, stretchy fleece. I would like to wear these layered over a thinner base on really cold ski days, but the fabric is too bulky even on its own to fit properly into ski boots. I'm considering hemming them to boot top length. I don't think they are flattering enough to wear by themselves as leggings and they pill quite badly.

I bought the Rho AR bottoms because I have both the Rho AR and Rho LT tops and I'm very happy with them. I use my base layers for skiing, hiking, biking and walking the dogs. Sailing too. I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, next to the tallest peaks in the Eastern US and some of the best year round hiking. I also ski several weeks a year in the Western US, often backcountry. These Rho AR bottoms are warm and supportive. They breath very well and the large size perfectly fits my 6 foot, 196 lb, 35 inch waist body. BUT, especially when I'm skiing, not having a fly is a major issue. I'm frequently in the backcountry for 8-10 hours at a time, obviously I have to pee. All of my ski pants have built in suspenders, like my Arc'teryx Micon's (love them) and fly's too. However, to pee in the Rho AR's, I have to take off my parka and usually one other layer, slide the suspenders off of my shoulders, drop my pants and then pull down the high wasted Rho AR bottoms. Try that at zero degrees! When hiking in the Rho AR's, I still have to drop my outer pants to pee because the Rho's are high waisted. I have no idea why Arc'teryx is so resistant to putting a fly, with an interior flap for warmth, into its base layer bottoms. Your customer's have been asking for this convenience for many years. Please do it. I have many kinds of Arc'teryx clothing and gear. I've been a customer since the early 90's. I've had very few issues over the years with an Arc'teryx product and, when I have had one, Arc'teryx has been very responsive. Add a fly to them and the Rho AR bottoms and would be perfect.

I bought a black pair last year and liked the polartec fabric and that they were long enough, so just bought 2 pair in the Anecdote color, which I love. However the fit in the leg/calf area twists and buckles, so I returned one pair.. The other I have kept intending to try to fix the fit. The shaping in the calf is far too aggressive and would only fit an Olympic weightlifter - and I do not have slim legs so this is the first time I have found legs that are too big for me. I also think that the styling seam on the leg are not very flattering around the knee and certainly did not help the fit. I would also prefer a hidden pocket rather than one that is glued on..

I bought these pants to replace older fleece leggings with an outer, durable layer. I certainly found that in the Rho AR. I really wanted to love these pants, & I do continue to wear them, but they fit me awkwardly. I am a curvy girl with skinny calves & it was tight enough at the top, but I had lots of extra room in the lower portion of the leggings (leading to me attempting to cuff them often). Additionally, I found that after about 6 months of use there was significant piling, though I was able to shave most of it off with a razor. Perhaps wearing them under a shell pant would help them last a bit longer. I would happily buy again if they fit me better.

This is the best baselayer I have ever seen on the market in terms of its capacity to hold body heat in very cold condition. And it is super easy to take care of comparing to pants made of wool. However, since it is listed in the ski category, I highly doubt it is really designed for skiing. The pants are very thick and full length, so they, overlayed by the ski socks, will create a huge soft gap between shin and tongue of the ski boot, make skiers much more easily to get shin bang, especially when skiers push hard. I think an appropriate baselayer designed for ski should be either thick with 3/4 boot cut or thin with full length.

I'm 5'6" and 110 pounds and the waist perfect, but the width for the legs is huge! the pants do not fit snug to my leg around my butt and below my knee. I would need an xxs and this size doesn't exist. I normally wear a size 0 or a size 2 and these pants are way too big. It is frustrating because there is no smaller size.

I'm about 120 lbs. and only 5'9". While the tights are very warm, my ankles are left uncovered. The length seems to be much shorter than expected. I ordered a small and even those are a bit baggy on me. I've never needed to purchase anything in a tall before, so I had the expectation that these would not be a solid 5 inches too short. For the price and technology that went into the planning and creation of this product and my inevitable decision to purchase this, I would at least expect for the product to cover my bare skin. I have always been impressed by Arc'teryx's products on the quality of fit and style, I was very disappointed to see such a silly flaw on such a high rated product.

While these are warm and fit well, I must say they are lacking in quality. They began to pill up, between my thighs, almost immediately. I have worn them about a dozen times now and the outside of the thigh is pilled up as well, I do not wear them with an outer layer. Must just be from contact with my hands/arms while I walk. I have two other pairs of similar pants, one fitted, one looser, by two other companies (Lowe Alpine and Nike) and neither of these have pilled after years and years of use. I also had a pair from Northface about 30 years ago that didn't pill. The pocket is too small for much...to short for iPhone 6 and too flat for much else other than some cash or a card. Wish it was more functional.
