These shoes are NOT waterproof. During an rainy outdoor tournament, I was forced to play from water puddles and my feet got SOAKED. My significant other had no problem standing in them in her Adidas goretex shoe. That said, when a description says "waterproof", I would think the shoe could do like hers, but that is not the case. Maybe the goretex is the difference, but again NOT waterproof.

This is a supplement to a review of these shoes that I wrote in May, 2016. 17 months and about a thousand miles later, I've finally worn out the pair I was writing about, but I like them so much I ordered another pair in a different color for winter wear, and a replacement pair in the brown I got originally. 17 months of daily walks, mostly on pavement, but also on snow and back-country trails occasionally, and rain or shine, these are the most comfortable walking shoes I've ever worn, and I've been walking 2 or 3 miles daily for more than 20 years. They're not as "cushy" as some other old men's walking shoes I've tried (I'm 73, so I qualify as a certified old person), but the rounded heel allows for a natural footfall that compensates for slightly less cushioning by making my gait much more comfortable. They've proven to be very durable, remained comfortable throughout their 17 month life span, and I not only would buy them again, I HAVE bought them again.

I've been looking for a solid sneaker-like shoe for outdoor chores & casual wear but needed a wider width and good arch support...not easy to find in a size 15. Merrell's were too tight and not available in a 16, so I tried these Columbia's. The 15s were also tight but a 16 fit well and were very comfortable right out of the box. I'm very pleased & hope they hold-up.

These are excellent shoes! Many customer reviews feature wide feet, but my problem is the reverse. I have long, narrow feet ("C" width), and the selection of shoes available in a slightly narrow width and large size is pretty small. Other brands I've tried (in one case, I've worn their shoes for about a decade) have never actually fit very well, but were comfortable enough that I didn't want to mess with shipping them back. I read in other comments that the waterproof membrane in this shoe tended to make it somewhat narrower than the stated width, and the result if perfect for me, if not for someone with "D"-width feet. So, the fit is very good, they look fine, and, now that I've put a couple dozen miles on them, I can say that they're among the most comfortable walking shoes I've owned, and I walk outdoors 40 minutes to an hour a day. The rounded heel (many walking shoes have a squared-off heel) is just wonderful, making for a silent and very comfortable heel-strike. I haven't tested the waterproofing very much, just some strolls in the rain across parking lots to the car, but my feet were still dry after those. Traction on paved and uneven surfaces is excellent. So, good fit, good features, good performance. The only real question is durability, and I haven't had them long enough to pass judgment on that. My only real gripe so far is that in common with many shoe manufacturers in recent years, the laces supplied with the shoes are 9" to a foot too long, so I've had to replace the laces with shorter ones. I've had to do the same lace replacement with every new pair of walking/casual shoes I've purchased in the past several years.

I have an older "mesh" version of this shoe and have been very happy with them. I thought I would try the waterproof version and it felt way narrower in the "wide" so i ended up sending them back.

I bought these shoes for work (warehouse), So I'm on my feet a lot. They fit awesome but do not breathe so your feet get hot and sweet! That's why I gave it 4 stars.

too narrow

A little stiff when you first get them but they loosen up with some wearing. I have wide feet so for me it was a concern. I love the light weight and water resistance. They look fantastic too.
