I wish I could have kept these. They were SUPER comfortable. But the heels are narrow and rounded, and I immediately felt like I was going to roll an ankle. As I walked around, again they are super comfortable, the heels made them feel unstable for a very tall old man. Sadly they have to go back.

The fit was acceptable, however if you have significant arches these may not cut it. They didn't work out for me...

After owning these shoes for a year, I felt it was time to post a review. I have used these shoes exclusively for their intended "light hiking" purpose, with some minimal trail jogging. Pros: - The shoe is very light and breathable - The shoes look nice, though they look like Merrell Moabs or any other light hiker really - They are quite comfortable, with decent support everywhere - They dry rather quickly if you get them wet. - They have adequately grippy soles, which seem to be tough. Cons: - Because of the mesh, your feet WILL get dirty. God forbid you have to wear light colored socks with them for any reason, and you are hiking through a dusty area. Dirt goes straight through the mesh and gets on your feet. - They don't feel particularly stable, especially in the heel. The sides of the sole are quite rounded, and the contact patch is relatively small. I will say that I have not rolled an ankle in them or had an issue yet, but when I first put them on I noticed that they felt a little roly-poly, if you will. - I have experienced a durability issue with these shoes. In the corner patch of mesh on the lateral side of the toe box, a hole has worn through on both sides where my pinky toe rubs against the mesh. These shoes have barely been worn, honestly, so I'm surprised it's there. It leads me to believe the mesh is not durable. - In my opinion, the lacing doesn't go high enough on the shoe. Every time I lace them up, I'm wishing for one more eyelet. When you put them on, maybe you'll feel the same. It just feels like my foot isn't quite as seated as it could be. I've never had the shoe fall off or anything, but I'm just saying. In conclusion, these are light, breathable, comfortable low-top hikers. If you plan on wearing them to do lots of walking, and you just like the outdoorsy look, they will probably be great. If you plan on beating them up, I think you might want to consider all of your options, especially if you are going to use them in a dusty climate very often. I personally will be purchasing a different pair of light hikers in the future.

This is my second pair of Columbia Redmond shoes. I liked the first pair because they seemed to have a perfect balance of cushion and flexibility in the footbed as well as a good shape for my foot (size 10 m). I felt they were a great shoe for all day comfort. I found the flexibility to be a negative for hiking on rougher terrain but these were great for traveling and walking on pavement as well as general all around casual wear. I liked them well enough to order a second pair in another color but I found that the new pair was not as comfortable. They are slightly narrower and the sole seems significantly stiffer. I don't know if Columbia made a change in materials or if it is an inconsistency in their production. Overall, I still like the shoes but I don't think I would have purchased a second pair if I had worn the stiffer version first.

I'd echo what others have said - generally comfortable, lightweight, etc. They do run a bit narrow, though. I haven't tried the wide, as they are out of stock, but the "D" are definitely a bit tight.

While not a flat arch, there is a bit less cotour here than average. These are maybe a bit wider in the fore-foot than is the norm, but overall the D-with is still very much a "D". Otherwise the size seems quite true to size. Lost style points with me because of color issues. If you order the Saddle and Garnet color be prepared for much more contrast than is pictured, this being between the mesh parts (very dark) and the upper's leather parts (which are rather light colored). These shoes are light weight, but seem well made; at $75 you're getting a shoe that compares well with shoes that are $20 higher or more.

These have a strange fit in the toe and are not supportive enough in the heel for hiking

10.5 wide. The shoe overall is ok, what I don't like. 1 There is no cushion between my feet and the ground, this tiers my feet easy. 2 Tying the shoe with the shoelaces is not easy. The shoe is easy to tight or to lose.

This shoe is lightweight throughout. Fabric breathes and lets in cold and mositure. Rubber on the toe is not sturdy. Sole is soft and springy. The Redmond looks like a hiking shoe, but is really more a running shoe than a hiking shoe. Unfortunately, Columbia no longer makes a sturdy hiking shoe.

These shoes are very thin with minimal support -- feels more like a climbing/biking shoe than a hiking shoe. Also the fit is very tight

Nice looking shoes but fit is way off. Ordered a 4E width and it was excessively tight--not wide at all! Right out of the box just looking at the shoe my husband could tell it was too narrow.

Nice looking upper and roomy in the toes. I also liked the tread pattern on the sole. That being said I returned these because despite the decent softness of the heel material the actual heel to toe drop made me feel like I was tipping forward.

Seems to be a quality shoe, but not made for people with wide feet. Way too narrow in Wide size. The insole was not especially comfortable either. Great price, so maybe will keep them for garden shoes, but would definitely return if it was free shipping or if I paid more.

Just over a year later, the mesh is wearing through on the inside of the toebox. Comfortable, but cheaply made.

Ordered a full size larger than i normally wear, and they fit very well. Comfortable shoe right out of the box. I walk about 5 miles every day. After 2 to 3 months of use, the stitching between the mesh and the toe plate started to separate. The leather part up around the toe area does not wrap around far enough over the top of the shoe where it stitches to the mesh. Compare to something like the adidas design. These would be great if the toe plate extended farther over the top and stitched in horizontally with the mesh. I would not recommend these shoes. I went back to Adidas.

Purchased less than 10 months ago and worn perhaps 30% of the time, these have become tattered and decrepit looking. They seemed reasonably comfortable initially, but I found myself replacing the foam insoles with gel insert from Miscly to keep the abuse of my feet to a minimum. They're definitely not high quality, durable footwear. Very disappointing.

I used them for a few hikes and now the front of the shoe is unglued. At least I used it to my trip to Alaska.

This shoe got light wear, but after 3 months the "pressure points" on each side of the toes wore out and after 4 months, the back wore out, allowing the plastic to cut into my heel.

My husband wore these shoes two to three times a week and loved them. No strenuous trail use, mostly just errands around town. But 18 months after purchasing them, a hole developed inside the right heel, through the lining and the padding. A similar spot started to wear inside the left heel. They're now unwearable, because the hole rubs his foot. He's never had this issue with any other pairs of shoes he's owned. We were surprised and disappointed by this flaw, considering the light wear the shoes have received. (And considering that other pairs of Columbia shoes and boots we've owned lasted a decade or more.) We were even more surprised that the company is enforcing its one-year warranty -- again, considering the light wear. I can send the shoes back to the company (at my own expense) for evaluation, but since they're out of warranty, I'm probably out of luck.
