This jacket fit the bill. I used it for skiing in 20 weather and it kept me warm. It's lighter than I expected, covered my waist and backside just enough, and had plenty of convenient pockets. The Velcro wrist closures kept the snow out.

I've owned several Columbia winter coats over the years and decided to get this as an alternative to my more heavy duty interchangeable Columbia winter coat so I could have something a little lighter and less bulky for everyday wear a little longer throughout the seasons. Now that I've had a chance to wear this in 10 degree weather, I will say I am super impressed with how warm it is, but not too warm where I've overheated while wearing it in temperatures around 40 degrees like I have with my other coat. It is light and comfortable, not bulky, the sleeves fit me perfectly and are not too long like some other coats, and enough room in sleeves for wearing a hoodie under it. The hood is not too large and is lightly padded, which I've found to be quite comfortable and a nice added feature. Just enough pockets too. The only thing I don't like about this coat is how "crunchy" the material is. I prefer a softer less stiff and crunchy material, but because of how well made this is, the crunchy factor would not prevent me from highly recommending this coat, especially for everyday wear in a variety of temperatures.

I ordered this as a new winter coat and I love it! The Lagoon color is just as pictured and it is very warm without being bulky. Great quality as always which is why I often buy Columbia coats.

I am usually a small on jackets but this one runs a little big, the XS fits like a small. Everything else was excellent! I love it!

I work with little kids, so we spend a lot of time outside. My old jacket just wasn't keeping me warm enough, but this one has been FANTASTIC. super comfortable, extremely warm. I love it!! Note: I purchased the color Black...it's not a true black. I'd call it Soft Black, or maybe Steel Gray. Some of the trim IS a true black. Personally, I like it better than if it were all blackI think it'd be boring!

I was on the fence about spending this much money on a jacket. It's a lot of money and I have a toddler running through his own things at an alarming rate. But I decided to bite the bullet as I knew it would last. I'm very glad I did. The day after it came in I went to the ocean to collect shells on a very cold and windy day, I was so comfortably warm! I absolutely recommend this jacket

We live in a brutal winter place so every other year I buy in new winter coats for staff. I have tried a few types of the Columbia jackets and we have been very happy with them each year but this year I thought we would try the Alpine Jacket this is perfect for the weather conditions and we are very happy with our choice. Columbia jackets are great and a great choice too.

This product is true to size very comfortable and warm. Bought it for winter and its perfect not too big and awesome hood.

I was looking for a durable ski jacket that will last years and I believe I have found it with this jacket. It is surprisingly lightweight and very comfortable and warm. I can move without restriction in it and the color is so deep and vivid. I love this jacket!

This is my second Columbia jacket. My first lasted ten years of rigorous use. It was a time for new one. I needed jacket for my trips to Europe. I purchased my jacket in January and it couldn't be better time! We've got pretty rough winter there. I was wearing almost every morning to school.The lining is so soft and cozy I could wear only light shirt underneath. It's incredible light and warm to compare to my old jacket. It protects very well from wind,show and rain.All pockets are zipped and it's a big plus. My favorite is on the left sleeve. I could keep my electronic pass to open security gates. The jacket looks very nice with feminine cut. I just love everything in this jacket. The only one thing upsets me....I live in Florida and I can't wear my awesome jacket here! Great price! I finally got to wear this jacket skiing yesterday and it performed beautifully! Loved how it kept me warm and dry in the snow. The various pockets were great to put items so I didn't need to carry a fanny pack or anything! This is a durable and stylish jacket - highly recommended!

I've been looking for a very warm jacket that isn't too bulky and this is perfect. Love the color, the slimming fit, and all of the features. I live in Maine where temps can get pretty brutal, wearing this with a thin fleece or hoodie underneath is perfect for those cold temps. I love it!!

Very warm and comfortable! Easy to move in with and without extra layers . Very durable, and not stiff.

The coat does exactly what is suppose to do, keep you warm and dry with great technology. On top of that it looks great and can be worn in any situation, very stylish.

I have been so pleased with this jacket. My sister had one and I borrowed it and had to get my own because of how great it was. It is warm, but not to warm and great for skiing. I love all the pockets and other many features that it has.

This jacket fits nicely with enough room to layer. I love all the pockets, my previous Columbia coat was 2 coats in 1, but I always used it as one coat, getting just one coat makes it less bulky. Looks very stylish and feminine, but large has enough room to put gloves in pockets and ski without it pulling anywhere. I am 5'5" and 160 lbs. Have not used it skiing in below zero weather, but I would anticipate it working just fine. Also like the thumbholes.

moved to the pnw with no winter jackets and now am in love with this one! so warm, and waterproof, and looks good with anything!

I love this coat and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want a big bulky winter coat! I love the slightly fitted look because it accentuates my smaller waist. I'm 5' 4.5" with a 34" bust, 27" waist, and a 37" hip measurement. A small fit great on me with just enough spare room to wear a hoodie underneath. However, there isn't a whole lot of spare room in the hip area on me (not enough to be uncomfortable in any way), so if you have bigger hips go up a size. I've had this coat for about a month now and have worn it in 5-15 degree weather (not including wind chill) as early as 4:30 in the morning and as late as 10:30 at night. I'm not a skier, but I love all the little pockets and features that help keep the snow from getting underneath the coat. It has kept me quite warm and I can't feel the strong gusts of Wyoming wind through the coat.

I really love this jacket! It is extremely warm- I usually wear this only when the highs are in the 30s because otherwise, I end up getting too hot. It's an active fit (so it's more fitted). I am 5'4" / 170lbs / size 12 / 36DDD bust and the XL fits comfortably. I have plenty of room in the midsection and arms, but I think a large would have been too snug across my chest and shoulders.

Bought this for my girlfriend and she absoulutely loves it. Ordered medium in nocturnal color,she is 5'4" and weight around 130lb and this fits perfectly. It an definitely hold Michigan Winter and yet keeps you very comfortable.

I purchased this jack for a future trip to Iceland I have coming up, and I cannot have been happier! The jacket is warm and comfortable, with sleeve holes for thumbs to keep your hands a bit warmer than a regular coat. Material seems like it will last a long time. Only comment is that it is a very fitted jacket, so I can only layer with thin tops (no sweatshirts for me).
