This was my second pair of these shoes. The right shoe of the first pair tore where the upper binds to the sole, They are so comfortable that I decided to get another pair. Since it had only been 10 months since I bought them, Zappos replaced them free. Thanks, Zappos. I have had the second pair for 6 months and the same thing is happening to the right shoe! I stand on my feet for 8-10 hours a day and in 37 years, these are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. I'm going to give them one more try.

The big toe box in this shoe is wonderful. I've got hammertoe, bunions, and high arches, and having the extra space up there has really relaxed my feet - it almost feels like I'm walking around with no shoes. These shoes have really relaxed my feet and made it so much easier to walk around.
The big downside to the shoe is that, after just 2 months of daily office wear, the front of one of the shoes has completely come apart. This feels like a short life span for a $130 office shoe. Were it not for this, I'd recommend this shoe wholeheartedly to everybody.

My husband ordered these Altra shoes for their wideness and comfort. At first he was so happy to find a shoe that allowed for his foot width and found them extremely comfortable. However, on his first outing he found that his second, third and fourth toes rub when on an incline(increased flexion). He measured for 11½ but ordered a 12 and it seems he should have gotten a 12½. I am guessing this is for the people with longer toes and thus more elongation when the foot is flexed and the shoe design just does not have the space that way. Incidentally, the same shoes in women's are fine on my feet but yet now I see that they too are snug on the toes on steep inclines.
I'd also recommend:

Disappointed. I didn't bother to try on both shoes. I usually wear a size 11.5 (45 in Ecco), so I ordered a 12. Too small, way too small. So why not order a larger size? Because the arch support is like a mountain in a shoe. The idea of going to zero drop is moving towards a more minimalist shoe. Why would anyone wanting a zero drop shoe want this huge arch support? Our arches serve a purpose; that's why we're born with them. Zappos is beginning to trouble me with all this emphasis on arch support ratings. Our feet, in proper condition, do not need arch support. The search goes on.

Deceiving looks. Nice shoe, but not comfy at all. The front part is not an issue. It's wide and generous. The back of the shoe is horrible. Too hard and keeps rubbing against the upper part of the heel. This is especially bad when driving due to the angle of the foot and ankle. I kept them, instead of returning them, hoping that a bit of break-in period would do the trick. Big mistake. Now, I can't return them any more since it would be impossible to clean them well enough, inside and out, to look like new. They'll end up in a closet or trash.
Also, note that they are much smaller than stated size. I had to exchange them for 12.5 in order to fit. Compared to several of my old 11.5, the 12.5 is the same size. So this 11.5 is nowhere near real 11.5. The sizing is totally off. I'd say this "11.5" is probably somewhere between 10.5 and 11.
Every foot is different, so I'm not surprised that some customers had very favorable impression. Not for me. 100 bucks down the drain.

They are comfortable, but I could not keep them because they are so ugly. My wife just laughed at me with them on. They look so big.

I have some Altra running shoes that I use for backpacking and completely love. They are the most comfortable shoes I've every owned. I had high hopes, therefore, for these shoes, but they have a very stiff thick sole and the heel cap is low--my heel slipped continually when walking. I've returned them.
