OMG...these are the coolest boots. I worried about what size to order, I am an 8.5 but these didn't come in 1/2 sizes and my feet are a little on the wide-side, but the 8 fit perfect and they are gorgeous and so unique!

Love these boots! Comfortable, great unique style. Get compliments whenever I wear them. Can be worn with socks or not. The only issue is the colors on the web site are not accurate, so color I got was not what I thought, and that color was not available. Kept them anyway, and glad I did. Tempted to get another pair in another color as well.

Great summer boot! Wore it for the whole day the first time in absolute comfort. Runs about 1/2 size big. I have to say, Zappos has the best customer support ever. I would like to be able to buy everything I need from them. Life would be easy!! Keep up the great work, Zappos.

Love them! True to size, nice leather, no complaints. I have worn them with and without socks, and like the look of both. Zipper was a little tough in the beginning but I followed someone else suggestions and used a pencil on it, they are fine now.

I wear a size 10 1/2 and the 10's fit perfectly without socks. They are going to be very comfortable once I break them in a little. Very cute!

Super cute boot but the right sole had a painful bump under the footbed. I was really bummed because I wanted to wear them on my vacation.

Incredibly cute and very distressed. Ankle style is fine, but Size 6 is just a bit too small. Half sizes not available, so no way to try that The sole is very stiff, so break in would take far too long a tad narrow.

Love these boots! I was looking for a summer boot, as I didn't want to wear socks. Normally I wear a 9 1/2 (with socks), so I tried the 9, and they fit great and look great. I have the taupe color -- they come with an aged look that looks just right for summer.

These are great boots. If you love boots and want a spring or summer boot, these are perfect. They are well made with a sturdy sole for walking. You can wear them comfortably without socks and look great with dresses, skirts, shorts or pants...so versatile!

These boots are GREAT! I've had them for about a month now. I wear them with ankle socks and they look totally killer. I have small bunions so need to have wide-ish shoes and these fit the bill. Can walk in them (city walking) all day. My skinny jeans tuck into the boots and look kickin too. No ankle issues at all like what other reviewers reported, not sure what they meant.

I get many compliments when I wear these boots. They look very cool. Can be worn with skinny jeans, rolled slouch/boyfriend jeans, skirts and dresses. They look good with ankle socks and a nice floral pattern girly dress. They are the perfect "dress down" a girly outfit so you can be a girl but keep your edge about you. Keeps 'em guessing. The boot is made to be looser around the ankle. I think it would look weird if it was more fitted. Yes, the toe is slightly curved upward. Adds a fun element to the design of the boot!

the color is not as shown. It shows a yellow stitching but it is in fact the newer version of black which is more black/grey with black stitching. minimal contrast at all. The color shown is what I really wanted. I ordered it twice as CS told me they had the color shown. It ended up being the same as black on black. Zappos was great and quick with delivery, return, and attempting to fix issue. Its more an issue with manufacturing. comfort and size was perfect.

I ordered these in black over year ago, and I wear them regularly. These boots have a serious hand made feel to them. They run long, but are not particularly wide. I ordered them in my size 11, and I might have been fine with a 10. If your worried about your feet looking larger than they are, you might not like these booties. They have worn well and I can walk all day in San Francisco without any discomfort. One of the straps was twisted, but hardly noticeable so I decided to keep them. They are not padded at all, your walking on layers of stiff leather, but Are still quite comfy. The zippers have held up just fine, and I receive compliments almost every time I wear them. They go with just about everything jeans, skirts, my favorite black stretch pants. I would definitely buy more Free Birds, I find that they are slightly better quality than Frye

Unfortunately these were just too big in a 9, and not quite big enough in an 8. They would have been a perfect year-round bootie for where I live.

Love the style and quality. Normally wear an 8.5 - 9 in shoes & boots, ordered the 8 after reading previous comments to go down in size and too tight in the width. Wish they had a half size option, will be returning them!

I was looking for a summery booty and bought these in taupe. They are really cute and comfortable right out of the box. My teenagers say they look stylish. I wear a size 11 so I usually don't have good luck with boots because they end up looking like boats on my feet but these are very flattering. The color and style will be interchangable through the seasons.

I love the styling of this line from Steve Madden just wish they came in half sizes. There is plenty of toe space but the top keeps the heel feeling tight. I was told to order down for a half size and I see why - for boots it is probably OK but this style is more shoe-like and even though I have space by my toes, the heel is tight. Next size up was huge, as in the shoe kind of swims. Again for a cowboy type boot that would have been fine but the straps (two are adjustable two are not) did not lie right. They are very comfortable and have a pre broken in look. I wish that sizing was better so I could have kept them.

I love these distressed boots that can be worn year round. I usually wear a 10, which is what I ordered. However, they were so large that I ended up giving them to my 27 year old daughter, who wears a 11½. They fit her perfectly. I reordered and am now wearing a size 9 in these boots. They are good quality and comfortable once I got them broken in (which did not take long).

Cute, okay for me in the heel at a size 8 (normally I wear an 8.5 now) but too narrow across the ball area of foot (widest part) so had to return. Really nice leather. Very unique.

Size 11 is true to size, if not a tad long. The area just above the criss-cross straps bulges out and does not look good, though. It makes it fit oddly. The top part fits the ankle but the bulge below destroys the look. Too bad. True to width since my almost wide feet felt a little snug.

I wear a 8.5 shoe most days, and occasionally wear a size 9. These shoes, however, are quite a bit longer and so I found myself ordering a half size down. The size 8 shoe initially was a bit snug, but the leather has stretched over the last couple of months and now the shoe fits very comfortably around my 8.5 size feet. As for the style, when Zappos says this shoe is distressed, they mean it! The shoe is expensive, but the quality of the stitching and overall construction is pretty sound. I expect to be able to wear these shoes for a long time. Arch support is low to moderate, so that's another thing to keep in mind. It's easily fixed, though.

I jumped at the chance to order these when they were back in stock. As I read ordered a size down, but I think I would have been fine with my normal size. Love Freebirds for the distressed look and this would have been my second pair but I am going to return them. The picture is not representative of what is in the box. Love Zappos and have been a faithful customer for 12 years, will continue to shop!

I purchased these in Taupe, 10M. I loved these boots in the pictures and video, I loved these boots as I was taking them out of the box - that is where it ends. They are so hideous and uncomfortable on my feet! That is completely disappointing. They are extremely narrow, so much so that the whole front half of each foot went numb after only a few minutes (and I was only sitting on the couch). I tried wearing them around the house for a while, to stretch them out a bit, but I could not deal with the pain any longer. The toes of these boots are also a good 2" longer than where my toes end, so they look ridiculous and unnatural. They are reminiscent of clown shoes, they are that long. Way too uncomfortable and unflattering to even waste time trying to break them in. For me, these shoes are not sexy whatsoever! I suppose if you have very long, skinny, narrow feet, they may work for you. I went with the Freebird Hustle (Cognac, 10M) instead, now those are sexy and comfortable!

Runs true to size. I wear a size 7 close toe shoe and ordered the 7. They were very comfortable even with my bunion, and liked the way they look, but didn't like the color. They were really reddish not the brown like shown in the picture online. That is the only reason I am returning.
