This review is for the Frye Melissa Button, no zipper, in a 7.5. I've worn them maybe 10 times and they are just starting to break in. Overall I am very happy. Some considerations: Width: I have narrow feet and they are still tight around the arches and little toe. If you have high arches or wide feet, these will probably not work for you. Putting them on: these boots are INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to put on and take off at first. The pull tabs are essential, but it's still a pretty comical affair--yanking and wiggling and grunting. You don't want to do this in public, trust me. It seems to be getting easier as they break in. Tread: the soles are leather with a rubber heel and they have are very smooth. OK on pavement, grass, brick, and cobbles, but on smooth tile and ice it gets pretty slippery. Height: I wanted flat boots and these pretty much fit the bill. They don't make my back hurt the way higher heels do. Misc: they do make a satisfying clicking noise on hard surfaces.

I believe my feet are in normal width. I have trouble to slide my feet into the shoes. I am a size 7.5 and that's the size that I ordered and it doesn't fit. I personally think you need to size 1/2 up. The quality is very nice though! Love Frye shoes.

I wanted these to work so badly because I'd be coveting them for months. However, they were sadly too wide for my 12.5 inch calves and I had to send them back. If you're a small-calved individual like me and you're looking for a Frye boot, I would recommend the Jenna inside zip which has a much smaller shaft.

Sadly, these are going back. I wanted to like them, but they were baggy around the ankles. Not for me. :-(

Pull pull! Hard to put on if youhave high arches. the foot bed was true to size but i Struggled to pull the boots on. beautiful boots. very nice but. I have high arches. as you may know high arches doesnt just mean the underside of your foot is concave, The shaft couldnt quite accomodate the distance from my heel to front of my ankle pointing and flexing snd shoving. those were so hard to get on it took me five minutes to muster the energy just to pull them off again. I'm sure the might eventually stretch but putting on shoes shouldn't make me collapse from exhaustion.

Beautiful boot! But, too narrow when slipping foot in. I actually injured my finger badly pulling them on. My friend has a pair and injured her foot taking it off. Need to wear thin socks to get foot in but plenty of room for foot once on. Trying to stretch it out. Still, love the boot, just being more cautious.

Beautiful boot! A little snug on my wide feet but should relax as it is made of leather. My only complaint is how slippery the sole is. I live in the far North with lots of snow and ice, and the leather sole slides all over. I took it to my local shoe repair and had a rubber sole slip cover put on. Otherwise, I love this boot!

If you are looking for solid black boots - go with soft vintage leather. I ordered the vintage leather and although they looked nice they looked really worn out and for the price I didn't really want that.

I ordered these in a size 8.5 in the Black Vintage Leather after having tried 4 other styles of Fry riding boots (the Celia X Stitch, the Paige Tall Riding Boot, The Melissa Button Back Zip and the Melissa Button in Chocolate). I already own the Billy shorts (in an 8) which I loved. I have a wide foot, and this was the only style that I tried that fit my foot well. I also have large muscular calves, and these boots were very difficult to get on at first, but I took them to a boot guy and had them stretched around the calf, and now they fit great. They only took about 1 day to wear in, and now they are comfortable. The reason that they are only getting a 4 from me, is because I was hoping they would stand up straighter and not slouch so much in the ankle. I think it is just the style and the type of leather, but overall I love them.

These are very stylish and go with jeans and skirts. I have skinny calfs and these boots fit perfectly - they aren't hugging my calfs but they aren't too wide like many other boots. They are very comfortable, I wore them all day at work the first time I got them and had no problems. I am giving 4 stars because the soles wear off quickly and they don't have much traction. Other than that, great boots!

Just as a heads up to everyone. The brush off dark brown color is very different than is what's shown online. It is a more gray brown. However other than that they are good looking boots!

These boots run large. They seemed about 1/2 to an entire size bigger than what I normally wear. They also were not very fitted to my leg at all. Very rain boot like style wise. They looked sloppy and puddle jumper like. I returned them for a more fashionable pair.

I have worn these boots for 3 years now. They are excellent quality leather, the soles need work. I've had them resoled twice. They are extremely comfortable, they are easy for me to get on and off (I have relatively large calves). My issue is that they've gotten quite slouchy. I store them properly and while I do wear them a few times a week I expected they'd maintain their structure. This is not the case.

I took a serious chance on these -- took them to Europe without ever having worn them. They did not disappoint. So cute, and so comfortable from the first wearing. After many miles of walking on our vacation, they look even better a little "lived in". Cognac is the perfect color. I wore these with skinny jeans and leggings -- the loops on the side help if anyone is having a hard time getting their heel in. LOVE THESE!

I got these in a black and had to order a full size smaller than my regular size. These boots are really well made and super comfortable. The foam insole will mold to your feet and the leather on the inside is super soft. The leather will also stretch a little so if it's a bit snug I wouldn't worry too much. The loops come in really handy when I am putting on the boots. The shaft is not at roomy as some boots I've purchased in the past, but I like the snug fit especially with leggings.

This is a very comfortable boot. A casual style but still a sleek look. A nice heel height for those who can't tolerate a 3 inch boot heel!

First, let me say that this boot is awesome. Beautiful leather and extremely comfortable. But, after getting my left boot on just once (not easy at first), I noticed already that the stitching on the pull tab is already coming undone. I also had to return my first pair due to poor quality on one of the boots, the nails at the bottom of one were coming out and the shape was a little off (couldn't even get the tip of my foot in). The new ones are better but this stitching thing is bothering me, I will probably just take it to a cobbler to fix. For the price I wouldn't think this should be an issue, I just hate to return these boots a second time. Aside from that, they are perfect, comfortable, stylish, everyday boots that look good on everyone.

These boots have quickly become a staple in my wardrobe. I wear them all the time. They are comfy, cute and the natural color goes with everything. As riding boots go, they are definitely at the more casual end of the spectrum. If you're looking for a dressy boot, this isn't the way to go. Also, I live in New Orleans so the weather isn't a problem but I'm originally from Wisconsin and I'm not sure they would be great in the winter there. There is absolutely no traction on the bottom of the boot so I wouldn't recommend these in the ice or snow. But they are super cute! And if you need a casual everyday boot for fall/winter in mild climates, the Melissa Button is perfect.

I ordered these and Melissa Logo at the same time, couldn't decide which pair I wanted. While these were very stylish and comfortable, the Logos won the day because they were taller, which is what I was looking for. But these are super-cute! Just not for me.

These are really nice looking boots. If I were to order them again, however, I would get the extended calf version even though I have normal-sized calves. They are a bit difficult to pull over my skinny jeans without my jeans bunching up at the knee. One other issue is the insole. It is a foam material that started to crumble after the first wear. Eventually I'll have to scrape it out and put in new insoles - which apparently I'll have to do myself because the shoe repairman said his hands are too large to work inside a boot with no zipper. Still, I think it is worth it to have boots that don't look like they are made of plastic like the faux-leather - and many real leather - boots do!

I originally ordered the Dark Brown Vintage boots. When they arrived, I tried them on immediately and loved how they felt! However, they were covered in a weird chalk-like substance. After doing some research online, I learned that the chalk is what makes it "vintage". Anyway, not for me, so back they went to Zappos and the Dark Brown Brush-Offs were ordered. They are absolutely perfect and I've already worn them 2-3 times per week! They look great with both brown and black outfits or tights and will be my go-to for fall and winter. I have larger calves and wore the boots exclusively with tights the first few days to break them in, but now they are getting comfy enough to wear over jeans. As always, Zappos service made this completely simple and easy - start to finish was just about 9 days even though two separate orders and one return was performed.

The leather is lovely but the sole is very slippery. I decided I'd rather not risk a fall and will return them.

I have an average size foot (size 7) and not wide at all but these boots seem very difficult to put on. I've been told that they will stretch and I'm still going to keep the boots because I think they are absolutely beautiful. I love the color and the style. They are beautiful boots!

I had to order 4 pairs of these boots in order to find one that was not defective in some way. I got brown antique leather which is wonderful, good quality soft leather. If you look at the photo of the side view of that color up close, you will see a seam in the sole at the arch. I received two pairs of boots that had significant separation in this area and sent them back. The third pair I got had better looking soles but had a hole where the stitching had come undone at the top of the boot. The fourth pair has some black stitching at the top that looked like someone repaired something. It looks out of place since the stitching on the boot is brown. However, I just kept these boots because I didn't feel like sending them back again and I really wanted these boots. These boots are fantastic because I have slender calves and could not find ANY boots that I didn't swim in. These aren't tight on my calves, but they don't look awkward like most boots do. They will look great with skirts or jeans. Zappos was very attentive in this process and offered significant apologies for sending me defective boots.
