If you love the Birkenstock Gizeh, be advised: the Papillio version has a lower arch and a less tapered strap - it looks a bit clunky and covers more of your toes. It also fir smaller in the toe area, somehow. I really wanted the gold Gizeh, but I didn't like this shoe. I'll hold out for a Birkenstock (non-Papillio) instead.

Found that the secret to being comfortable in the Gizeh is to have the strap tight enough so that it holds your foot back/ keeps it from sliding forward. When I made this adjustment, the toe piece is virtually unnoticeable. Perfect fit in the footbed and seriously felt immediately comfortable for long periods of walking!

I live in NYC and I walk a ton (about 7 miles a day) and I have to say I've been secretly pumped about the Birkenstock making a comeback this season in the fashion world, even though I'm definitely not your typical Birkenstock owner/wearer. The original two strap style doesn't particularly flatter my foot but I love the Gizeh, and it was my go-to Birk back in junior high and high school in the 90s. And now you can get it in Metallic gold - amazing! It goes with everything! I have no problem with the strap between the toes and do not find it uncomfortable I typically wear a 7.5 or 8 depending on the shoe and my foot is a touch wider than the average foot. These run big so order a size down. I got the size 7 and they are perfect. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. And the Zappos customer service was just as awesome as always - free and super fast shipping. I don't think my feet have been this happy since 1996!

I love the look and fit of this shoe and was so excited when it finally came back in stock but the plastic piece between the toes makes these impossible to wear. Why wouldn't Birkenstock make this piece out of another material that is more flexible? I don't know how anyone can wear these. Sadly, I will be returning them.

Absolutely love these! But I did not find them to run big, as other reviewers said. There is a lip where the toes are in the front of the shoe, and if your toes hit that, then they will be very uncomfortable. My toes are a little on the longer side, so I have to exchange them for a size larger. I am a true 8 1/2 in sandals, so I will order the 39. Also, the arch in the Papillio is definitely lower, which is excellent for me because I have extremely flat feet. Regular Birkenstocks really hurt me in the arch area.

These shoes are so cute and stylish! I loved the pattern. The part that goes between your toes hurts when breaking in but overall loved the shoes.

My favorite shoes ever, they dramatically decreased my pain from plantar fasciitis. I slip them on as soon as I get out of bed in the morning and wear them as much as possible.

The first day you wear them you are thinking did I make a mistake. The next day you know why people buy Birkenstocks they are awesome, so comfortable, love love love them.

Absolutely love these sandals. They needed to be worn in maybe once and they might be a tad big for people with narrower feet. I have fairly wide feet and I had to tighten the top strap all the way. That said, these shoes are super comfy and the silver crackled leather is kind of stylish.

These are my favorite summer sandals. Yes, the breaking-in with Birkenstocks can be annoying, but it DOES NOT have to be so painful! Many people who have the terrible blisters between their toes (as I did for the first two or three years of wearing these) simply do not have their sandals adjusted properly! If the strap across the top of the foot is tightened enough, the post between the toes will NOT rub. The sandal should be held on by that top strap--not the toe strap! With proper fitting, these sandals will be your best friend.

These shoes have really been great for my feet. I have a number of foot and ankle problems, and thought that I could only wear sneakers with custom orthotics. But not only can I wear these comfortably, my ankles actually feel better after wearing them than after wearing my orthotics. And the gold is pretty cute...I've gotten a number of compliments on them. The papillio style is definitely different from the regular Birk footbed...I can't wear the regular Birks; they hurt my left foot. I think my next purchase will be the silver.

If you want to get many compliments, these shoes will get them. Papillio has the best patterns. Birks are so comfortable I wear a size 6 but most comfortable in a 35 contrary to the size chart. Of course Zappos delivers fast and has a great return.

I have terrible feet, with high arches. I had more or less resigned myself to wearing nothing but workout shoes. Then I read an article about people with foot problems liking Birks, so I decided to give them a try. The regular Birks don't fit my left foot at all, but these do. They did need some breaking in, but I am amazed to find that my ankle problems are virtually nonexistent when I wear these! I still don't find them as comfortable for long walks as my sneakers, but for most daytime activities they are great! Love the gold Gizeh -- I have gotten several compliments while wearing them. I usually wear an 8, and ordered a 38, so they run a bit big for me.

I have never had Birkenstocks before but have been recommended by quite a few people to try them. I have been wearing them nonstop for about 2½ weeks now and I am finally starting to like them. At first, they were very uncomfortable but I knew that they had to mold to my feet. It has taken longer than I feel it should have but they finally fit me perfectly when I slip them on. I bought these for a trip to Europe this summer and I am glad that I bought them plenty early so I would have time to break them in. The metallic gold is awesome and goes with everything.

I wanted to like these but not for my high arch. I thought they look more red in the picture but in real life they're more pinkish salmon color. I wanted these to be my "ruby slippers." I'll keep looking.

While I have long admired Birkenstocks, I have never thought that they were for me. Well, no more! They are cool, and practically the most comfortable shoes that I own. I have had them for more then a month and as soon as it actually warms up in NYC, I know that they will be my "go-to" shoe!

These Golden Gizeh (Cassis crack gold leather) Birks were perfect for my dressy attire while attending a recent wedding. Have trouble walking because of foot & knee problems. I even made it to the dance floor and danced most of the evening!

Any of these Gizeh style are great. I have 4 pair. I love the leopard print, please bring them back. Mine are so comfy and I may need another pair!

This sandal is amazing!! I was reluctant at first because they are Birkenstock and what my mom wore in the 70's. I wasn't sure about the clunk. Well, I'm dealing with foot and ankle issues but didn't want to slow my life down, so I gave them a shot and I'm sure glad I did!! They are amazing, look super cute, and I walk miles in them. The more you wear them the better they fit!! I've ordered many colors to suit my wardrobe. Zappos was perfect t in getting them to me quick, and when I first ordered I ordered a 9 by accident, which was no problem because Zappos sent me the right size the same day. Do order a half size down if you are an in between size: I'm a 8.5-9 (39) and I ordered the 8.5 and it's perfect!!

I love Papillio & Birki's! This pair is #36! It fits beautifully and the arch support, which I'm in desperate need of, is above any other shoe I've found. And I love the print!

I LOVE THIS SANDALS! Must have at least 30 pair. Add 2 to my collection each school year. I'm an elementary school teacher and the kids watch to see what wild shoes I'm wearing. I have problem feet. Arthritis, etc. Birkenstocks are the only shoes that mold to your feet... that I can wear.

My new favorite summer shoes! I can wear them all day - walking in amusement parks, taking kids on field trips, a light hike - and my feet never ache. Plus, the gold gives me just enough sparkle to feel like I'm a little dressed up, even though they're not "dressy" shoes. Love, love, love them!

Love these shoes - especially the colorful flowers! This between the toe style of Birkenstocks took me a few wears to get used to - but after wearing just a few times, are as comfortable as can be.

Love this shoe! These are my first pair of Birks and they felt comfortable right out of the box, for about an hour. I worked up, an hour at a time, for a few days to get used to them. Now I don't want to take them off! I have a lazy arch and usually my foot looks very wide & sloppy in a flat shoe. These cradle them and they look great! The arch support is better than my sneakers, and is just enough. I also ordered the Gizeh, but the level 3 arch was too much for me, those are going back. Comfy, supportive and cute! This will be my go-to shoe for the summer!

These are beautiful, practical and fashionable. I wasn't sure if metallic gold would really go with everything, but so far, these have come pretty close. They look very Hollywood-egyptian, and seem to be holding up well. I'm a little klutzy in them, but I think that's because I'm used to wearing shoes that are perfectly flat, with no platform.
