Lovely lightweight jacket that really is not noticeable when worn. Tighter inner cuffs in the sleeves would be nice.
I am 5'8" and 70Kg.

I am quite happy with my recent purchase of this jacket.
Pros:
-good insulation
-light yet very warm
Cons:
-wish the hood was removable
-there should be wristlets to keep your wrists warms and prevent warm air from escaping out
All in all a great jacket. I like the minimalistic style of it and the flat saturated colour of the black.

Bought for winter in okanagan. Love the fit, the warmth, the sleeve length and it does an excellent job of blocking the wind.

I bought this parka to mainly use around town. It fits well enough for me, as an XS size, it feels about right, leaning towards fitting big. It's warm for an urban setting, wearing just light base layer, and great Arc'teryx minimalist styling. Collar is a bit awkward, and often catches my face mask. The coat material, surface texture seems to pick up dirt easily, but not really an issue for me. I wish the outer pockets were deeper, as I find it difficult to keep my woolen mittens in the pockets. The zipper appears to be on the cheaper-side, and so I worry about the zipper breaking. Overall, it's a great jacket for daily urban living, but for outdoor athletic activities, it's not technical enough.

I was excited to test it out this parka during the recent polar vortex! Happy to report that even with a wind chill of 8F this parka held up well. I love the quality, cut, style, and how light it is. But there is one major problem and that is the color. Pictures of the Whiskey Jack make it appear dark gray to heather gray. When I first opened the pkg, in my kitchen, it looked gray. I then tried on the coat walked into the sun filled living room to show my wife who said, "Okay... did you mean to buy a purple coat?" To my surprise she was right. In the sun or any warm light the coat looks a pale purple. Under a kitchen fluorescent light it looks gray. I took several pictures but the camera does not pick up the purple the way the human eye does. This is the second time I have been disappointed with a color from Arc'Teryx. I really do love this coat and recommend it, but I also recommend you see it in person before buying! I will be returning this Whiskey Jack coat and get another Therme in black! They can't screw up that color, right?

Just bought the parka. Fits quite large so suggest to go one size down. I'm 180cm and 82kg with 104cm chest and the S fits me. Medium was too large as too much wind could travel in.
Things to improve: storm flap behind zipper would be nice and possibility to adjust waist would also be a good addition in order to block wind more efficiently.
Pretty warm in -5C, but at -10 and below I would look for something more heavy duty.

Picked up the revised version a few days ago. I have not tried the old model, so I can't compare the two. But I love this jacket. Warm, stylish and superb quality. Very few cons. Comes with a hefty price tag, but I think worth it. The jacket is almost like a down insulated dress coat or rain coat. Large fit, I'm 6'2 and 220 lbs, wearing a Medium. The biggest flaw is the size of the stretch cuffs, they are way too big and air can get in. Other than that, the jacket is one of the best I have ever purchased!

I just received this coat today, i was very impressed by how light it was, i also love the colour black, its a bit ashed but i like it. The fit however is very loose, i took it out for 10 minutes at -3 and a bit of wind. I noticed the wind coming in throught the sleeves and a bit from under. I can definitely layer and i am sure i will be fine as the wind is the most painful part of the cold for me, but i wanted to try it with just a shirt underneath. This is my first Arc'teryx product ever, the quality and details are very noticeable. Amazing stuff. I also love how discreet this coat is, no flashy logos. I would definitely love if the sleeves were a bit tighter, i am very slim and the xs is big on me, next time i will defintely for a tighter cut.

The jacket preforms well overall, it is very warm and extremely light. The only thing I did not like is that the pockets are very small, its an urban jacket, they should be bigger. The hood could be a little tighter too.

Initial impressions of the parka after ordering and inspecting the details.
The good: Fit is spot on. 180# 40R suit jacket and medium has a sleek fit with room to add a light fleece layer underneath if needed. The not too bulky nor heavy look bodes well as an urban winter parka.
Sleeve length and wrist opening are fine even without any option to adjust.
Shell fabric has a soft brushed canvas-like hand and not crinkly.
Two-way zipper which glides smoothly is featured which is a must with parkas (many of Arc'Teryx's other parka models such as the Camosun and Magnus are missing this feature). Could use one gauge higher but not a deal breaker.
Missing features: Soft brushed chin guard.
Interior drop pockets to stash winter accessories.
What needs improvement: The handwarmer pockets can use the soft lining on the knuckle side and not just on the palm side.
Bar-tacked stitching where the zipper begins on the bottom since that is a high stress area (two way zipper helps but should have that extra durability).
Use of better quality button snaps to accomplish a smoother snap and release.
In short, currently not worth a 5 star rating or full retail price. Future iterations with the suggested improvements that should not cost the manufacturer so much to implement can check off all of the boxes and make it more worth the asking price.

The coat fits very large. I am 6'3 220 and athletic, I bought the Xl assuming it would be a good fit as I'm XL in most things I want room in. As it turns out the Large is a bit big on me and the Medium is a bit too small and short in the sleeves. Also another frustration is that the coat has now adjustable hem or baffle at the bottom to keep in air and warmth, even in a size that fit me it would't have kept me warm at the temperatures its designed for without wearing another coat under it to create a seal for this one. Overall disappointed, everything I own for skiing, rock climbing and outdoors in general is arcteryx or other premium comparable brands and was hoping their high end athletic background would translate better to the city..... I ended up selling it for a loss and ordered something i like the look of less but functions better.

I managed to swap to this jacket after finding that the Magnus was simply not warm enough for a UK winter. I have been wearing this jacket now for the past few weeks in temperatures ranging from a few degrees centigrade up to around 12c. It does get too warm towards the top end of this range if you are moving around and if the sun comes out you're going to sweat. But at the lower end it is very comfortable and I can easily see it providing enough warmth below zero. The last few days we had some very high winds and the GoreTex does a great job of keeping this from penetrating through. Yesterday I was out and about for four hours in driving rain and stayed perfectly warm and dry underneath. The hood, although large, does a superb job at keeping out the wet. The overall quality of the parka is clearly high and it is certainly well made. This brings me to the cons. All of the pockets are a little bit on the small side. The new, larger iPhones don't fit in the outside chest pocket. Although hands fit easily into the side pockets, why not make them a little deeper? Inside stash pockets would be ideal for gloves and a scarf, and this brings me onto the collar - you are going to have to devise some way to seal out the wind at the neck because the collar is laughably big. When it is properly cold I will wear a sleeveless fleece with a high, zip-up collar to seal the neck, but at the moment I have resorted to cinching in the hood elastic to effectively narrow the opening. This however is not ideal as the hood then rubs against the back of your head and the GoreTex rubs against your neck and chin. Only other option would be to add a snap fastener at the internal collar which I may well end up doing. A scarf would work but, as I mentioned, with nowhere to stash it when not needed, I would find this annoying. One other small gripe is the lack of a decent fleece lining inside the pockets and at the neck/chin area to prevent chafing. Overall though, very impressed and the pros certainly outweighs the cons.

So I bought this jacket at a great sports gear store in NYC about 2 weeks ago. It's been in 40 down to 20 degree weather. This was a big buy for me and I really want to love this jacket but the bottom line is the collar let's heat out and wind in. When I keep the collar closed with a hoodie sweatshirt for example, the jacket is great. BUT, the collar is so big around the neck it lets cold air in and warmth out. Outside of this, and this is big, the jacket is awesome. Easy to use, lightweight and feels good. Looks very nice and has great features.
I am 5'-11.5", a 41"-42" chest and fit but not skinny. A small was just too tight in the chest and too short in the arms. I may have a snap added at the collar to let me close it up nicely.

I don't understand who can actually fit into this jacket... Even the extra small is too big, compared to other Arcteryx jackets in the same size. The arms are way too long and cannot be adjusted. Returning this coat. Such a shame, it seems very warm and good quality

Its arcteryx, its the best. Love this jacket but had to return it. I would prefer a slimmer fit. Please make a slim fit version :).

It fits quite large, I usually wear a medium sometimes even a M is too snug for me, for example the camosun or the atom LT medium fits a bit tight but a large would be too loose. But for Therme I have to wear a small and it fits fine with room to layer a tshirt and a light fleece underneath.
Also about the water proof goretex, its just weird as I tested it by placing the coat sleeve under running water and the water seems to just run off it and I don't see any wet marking, but when I went out wearing this coat in light heavy rain, the outer fabric seems to be getting wet and I see wet markings all over the coat after I came home.
As to the hood, I don't get why it's still designed to hold a ski helmet inside, since its intended purpose is for the more urban scenario, I doubt many ppl would ski in this coat.
The sleeves r a bit too long so I had them shortened by a good tailor, otherwise this feels like a good coat, and it's better suited for the city. It feels warm, although I haven't tested it in 0 and below temps, which I will next month when I will go to -30 environment, and yes I plan to bring this coat....don't let me freeze.

I have just received and worn this jacket. The hood design may look chic, however it is far too bulky and the drawstrings don't work effectively. When cinched the hood is obstructive, and in any event, the cinching doesn't seem to hold
I'm not sure I would actually recommend it to a friend!

I had been looking for a jacket that is warm and waterproof yet also stylish enough to wear over a suit to business meetings during the winter in the northeast. This jacket is perfect for that and mostly exceeds my expectations. It is sleek and well designed without prominently advertising some tacky logo on the front. I can also attest that it weathered Boston's "bomb cyclone" of a winter storm so it is warm and snow proof. My only complaint is that it is somewhat bulky through the body and overly bulky in the hood, making it less practical for travel and a bit poofy when the hood sits at the collar.
