Long-time fan of the brand. They've always done everything perfectly - design ethos, materials, technical functionality, etc. However, the newly redesigned Atom jackets and vests have deviated from that historical consistency. Take this jacket - the logo is now STITCHED on. In the past it's been printed on. Perhaps the brand thought the print logo would wear away over time, but that has never been my experience no matter what the age and how many times the product had been washed. That former print logo has always had a beautiful sheen to it that popped, but the new stitching is ugly and dull and as a result, the branding just falls flat. Blah. Bring back the old logo, ditch the terrible stitching and stop changing things that don't need changed!!! Because Arcteryx has been so consistent historically, I've recently made the mistake of buying a few new jackets, failing to look at them or put them on to test, and have washed only to find out later how disappointed I am, but of course with no recourse to return now. I give the jacket a 1/5 stars now. I get that the deviation from the norm is minor - it's just a logo - but again, if something is not broken, don't fix it. Moreover, because the brand ethos has always been minimalist, and because people that buy the brand tend to have a minimalist mindset too, even the tiniest changes relative to baseline blow it all up for me psychologically. Sounds ridiculous, but that's just the way it is.

I bought this jacket last year to use during this winter. I have delta LT and hard shell jacket from Arc'teryx. I had high hopes from this expensive and popular jacket. I have used this jacket ~10 times as mid layer this winter. Zipper broke on the day of my critical winter hike causing huge inconvenience. I had plans to get proton LT and beta AR for severe cold hikes but I need to look for more durable and reliable alternatives now.

I have owned several Atoms over the years and loved them. However, the most recent one I bought developed small holes in random areas after 1 month. There had been minimal wear and it was never washed. Arc'teryx wasn't willing to resolve the issue, despite their "practical product lifespan" warranty. Obviously the quality isn't what is used to be.

EXTREMELY disappointed with this product. I usually think of Arc'teryx as a reliable brand with good quality outdoor gear, but they really dropped the ball on this one.. After just a few days of normal use, there was already a tear on the jacket (not sure how it happened). This had never happened to me before so I brought it back to get it fixed, I had to pay the repair cost and just a few days after getting it back there was already more damage to the outer layer of jacket. The jacket itself is confortable and fits nicely, but it might not last you through the season. Overall, I regret this purchase.

I used mine three times briefly, once with a small, lightweight backpack on, I have not even washed it yet, it has not been anywhere a source of heat, yet the material has all scrunched up in several places in an ugly way. I don't see how it could be linked to wearing a backpack since the material under the shoulder straps has not been affected, the scrunched up material is spread unevenly on the back. It certainly doesn't look as though this jacket will last very long... Given the price I am definitely not impressed!

Let me start with I LOVE ARCTERYX. I have more items than I can count. This is my second Atom hoodie my first was stolen after 1 year. I loved my first Atom so much I went out and bought a replacement right away. I have had it for 2 weeks and to my dismay the back is destroyed. The fabric has worn through to the point where it's almost see through. I haven't even had a chance to actually use it so this damage occurred from wearing into town. I'm so disappointed.

Bought this piece for my partner ahead of a ski trip to NZ. After a couple commutes into work, the threads along the cuff all came undone. We were left scratching our heads and decided the get the cuff professionally repaired. Fast forward to NZ and all the threads throughout the jacket started to come undone which lead me on the believe there was some kind of defect. Note that threads had unravelled throughout all the inside panels of the jacket and outside along the sleeves. After raising an RA, we were told that the threads coming out were down to general wear and tear which was really disappointing to hear. After owning a Theta AR, Photon and phase AR thermals myself and putting them through the ringer, I've never had such issues with threads coming out (Tassie/ bucket loads of trips up in the Mountains of South island NZ).

It's comfortable and lightweight but not durable at all. Worn with a backpack and over-layer a couple of times on walks and it's already showing signs of wear and bad bobbling. Returned it and got it back with the bobbling removed (doesn't solve the problem). Very poor for a 200 garment.

I really wanted to love this jacket, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. Some positives about this jacket: It fits great! I am 5'5 and 130 lbs and the medium is a good size for me. Additionally, it is initially very warm and versatile. Big con: After owning this jacket for less than year and using it in gentle circumstances, the fill began to breakdown and the jacket wasn't any better than a windbreaker. I thought I may have just received a dud, so I called Arcteryx and they were kind enough to send me a new jacket for free. Sadly, after less than a year this new jacket broke down as well. For both jackets, I followed the washing instructions exactly, and used them very lightly. They were never exposed to anything worse than walking to and from my car in the winter. Unfortunately, I won't be purchasing this jacket again and would not recommend it. A product that has such a high price tag should last more than a year, especially when I can find a similar jacket whose fill won't breakdown for much less.

Last year I purchased this product and was instantly sold on its feel and performance...so much so I bought another within the same week. . This year I went looking for my third one. What a disappointment....First the collar does not lay flat as on last years model; one side will not fold down across the jacket and provides a major irritation in feel and looks. Secondly, just as disappointing is last year's model had two drawstring adjustments; one each side of jacket hem to secure the jacket nicely to body. Now they have only one adjusting drawstring and once tightened does not look or feel right. I understand price increases but I cannot accept inferior products. How do I find last years models? I would buy my third. Sadly I am stuck at two.
