I love these shoes! To give you an idea of size, I usually wear Vans, and I am a 10.5 in their shoes. The 10.5 in this shoe was so big that I had to return it. I ordered the 9.5 and it fit better but was still slightly big! Then I found the yellow color that I originally wanted at a different retailer, and I got that in a size 9. The size 9 fits great and I am returning the 10.5 & 9.5. Is definitely buy them from zappos if they had the yellow color that I wanted.

I had to go a half size down from my previous converse purchases for these, which was surprising as as shoes fit me pretty consistently. Very happy with the style and I think the 70s version is a bit more grown up looking that the other classic hi tops. Comfort is pretty on par with other Chucks I have - meaning they're flat and my feet hurt after a long day but I expect that with this brand. It's taken a few wears to get them to softern up a bit but again, expected with a hi top. Happy with these!

Excellent fit and good size. My feet are irregular, resulting in going up a 1/2 size. More sturdy than regular chucks. Really feels great wearing them. Despite the slight change in the converse emblem and
slight change in color from "black" to "black/black/egret", these are still the same Chuck Taylor All Star '70 Hi.
I'd also recommend:

Absolutely LOVE these shoes! super comfortable. Nice cushy footbed. I pretty much wear them everyday. Super cute with cropped flares and also with skinnies. Will try to pair then with skirts and dresses when the weather warms up. Highly recommend!! I usually wear sz 7 in womens and 6.5 womens fit me perfectly in these.

These are by far the BEST Chuck's I have had since I was a kid!!!! I am old enough to remember when they were made this good. I am so pleased with these shoes. I hope and pray they keep the 70's line going for many years because this is not my last pair of them. I have worn Chuck's my whole life, and quit wearing them for a couple of years due to them not holding up to daily wear for longer than 2-3 months. I absolutely love the 70's Chuck's they are built far better than any CTAS since the early 1980s. The CT70's have better canvas, rubber, soles, footbed, laces, and they fit like standard Chuck's. These are the bomb and I love them Zappos is amazing with super fast and free shipping I will definitely be using them for all my orders. I see a bunch of Chuck Taylor 70's in my future!

By far the best Chuck Taylors ever! Purchased these to wear while riding my Harley and they have certainly held up well. They are much more comfortable than regular Chucks and are more solid. The fit is as with all Chucks (IMO) one half size too large. The only reason for 4 stars is the heavy duty laces broke in my hand after a few months of light wear. Zappos went out of their way (as always) to make it right!

I've owned these for about a week and they're my "go everywhere, do everything" shoe. While i am not old enough to have played basketball wearing Chuck Taylor's, I wore them for weight lifting and as a casual shoe from the late 90's to about 2007. As other's have said, the quality of this shoe is reminiscent of the old USA made Chucks. I actually quit buying Chucks about 10 years ago because of the quality issues. I could only get about a month of wear with the cheap,"off the shelf" Chucks.
Sizing: I ordinarily wear a 9.5 in regular shoes and a 9 in "cheap" Chucks. I have a medium width foot. I purchased these in a 9, and added a superfeet blue insole for additional arch support. Perfect fit. Without the insole (which i probably don't need considering the squishy factory insole) I probably would have gone with the 8.5. I should mention that I like chuck's to have a snug fit to provide maximum lateral support, and I wear Darn Tough wool socks.
Bottom line: These shoes are an aesthetically pleasing, high quality, "old skool" athletic shoe. They're suited to a variety of settings, from a casual office environment to the weight room. If you are familiar with, and like Chucks, give them a try.

Compared to regular Chucks, the big differences are double thickness on the canvas (enough that the uppers easily stand up on their own when empty) and some additional reinforcing canvas patches on the inside. They do replicate a few features of the 1970s shoes like the style of the toe cap and foxing, but they also have some anachronistic details (like the stitching color and a modern heel patch) that make them a unique style rather than an actual replica.
The thicker canvas does make these shoes more durable and increases the ankle support, unlike the virtually paper-thin modern shoes. The one downside that brings them down a star is the laces. The laces are a good 10 inches longer than what come with typical shoes, which makes tying them in a bow or wrapping them around your ankle mandatory to avoid extremely long loops or ends that are stepped on and dirtied. They're nice cotton instead of nylon, but still too long.

I really like them. They are comfortable and I ordered my normal size. They are a classic and look good dressed up or down and all around... a great shoe to have in your closet.

Many reviews even Converse.com suggest that it's better to pick half size down, but I feel it is true to size. I have slim feet and I usually wear women US 7, after reading so many reviews, I purchased a pair of 6.5. However, it's wide enough but not long enough. I changed a pair of 7, now I am happy with it.

These shoes are very true to the original Chuck's that I wore way back when in High School. I appreciate the arch support, however, it is kind of minimal. The shoes are way more supportive than the lighter weight Chucks since the canvas uppers are quite a bit thicker. It'll be interesting to see how they feel after being broken in for a while. The rubber toe shell and side bumpers are also thicker than the regular Chucks and feel much more substantial underfoot. One the first things I noticed is how much better the eyelets look on these shoes. I had never even thought about that item on the shoes until I compared both the regular and '70's Chucks side-by-side.
I did find that the shoes run about a half-size large, so keep that in mind when ordering.
I love these kicks.

These don't fail you! They have much sturdier support in the sole and arch than I remember converse having back in the day (80's and 90's). The rubber being a slightly cream colour is so aesthetically appealing!

Got these for my bf and he likes them. Just the standard chucks; the rubber has a yellow tint and the shoes seem very well made. He wears them all the time and they go well with most of his clothes. Canvas chucks, not water proof, versatile and pretty standard. This is better than the cheaper version, they are heavier than the cheaper version; sturdier.

I love these converse CT '70 hi top, very comfortable, and classy. I'm 35yo woman, I have been wearing the regular cheaper version converse prior to this purchase. The CT '70 is much more comfortable and much better quality. I will be buying this CT '70 from now on, hopefully they will come out with variety of other colors.
It's great buying experience in this store easy, fast delivery, and return. I always wear women size 6 in regular all star converse, but I had to size down half size on this 'CT '70 hi. At first I bought 6.5 women size because some reviews said it's half size smaller due to some sort of cushioning- it was too big for my feet so I return it for size 6, but still too big. Returned the women size 6, purchased size 5.5 and finally it fit perfectly wearing my regular socks on with tiny bit of wiggle room.
The shine is barely noticeable

I purchased the item in April of 2016, in a cream color high top and a size 8 in womens. They were exactly true to size and I am very happy with them! Being a light color, I was worried that the shoes would get dirty quick, but with a little maintenance they still look new! The shoes are so cute and casual, and they look good with pretty much anything (even dresses!). They don't really have any arch support so I wouldn't recommend wearing them if you are doing a lot of walking. Overall, they are a classic shoe and I would definitely purchase them in more colors!

Love these, but they run big. Order at least a half a size smaller. I wen't down a full size. But they're great. Very comfortable and, I think, adorable, old-school, too.
