I've had two of these now over the last 5-6 years. I do a lot of saltwater fishing on the Northern California coast and this involves actively wading up to my waste in saltwater sometimes. This jacket combined with my waders keeps me dry very well. The first one I had the zipper failed on it after about 4 seasons of heavy use in saltwater so I can't fault the product for that since just about anything will fail in saltwater. I bought a new one and am back out there staying dry and warm. These are really light too, I can see them as a budget backpacking rain shell option as well . I use mine for backpacking also but by ultralight backpacker standards this is not an ultralight jacket. That said it will keep you dry and it is a great wind breaker too. Can't beat the value.

I like the jacket, but it is missing on the outside of the hood the strap one would use to take up slack in the hood to keep it out of your eyes.

My partner absolutely loved his "just because" gift, he's never owned a rain jacket hahaha, but he's happy he has one now, it only took 34 years

I'm an avid hiker in Colorado. I never go on a hike without this jacket. It's lightweight and super easy to pack. It keeps me completely dry on the trail and works great as a windbreaker as well. Very easy to layer on colder days. I started with just black, and have purchased two more colors since my first one 5 years ago. I'm 5' 11" and 195 lbs, and the medium works well for me.

True to size and a perfect summer rain coat. 100% water proof and breaths really well. Im looking forward to brining it in to the fall to layer with a 1/4 zip

Husband now understands how awesome waterproof breathable rain jackets are. Nice fit and good value, not overly fashionable but it’s a rain jacket. My husband, who dislikes buying clothes, really likes it and actually wears it. I own the same jacket in women’s and love it. Comfortable, packs easily for travel.

Get caught above the tree line with a raging snow storm today in the Rockies with this jacket as an outer layer. It kept the wind and water out in 50mph wind which allowed me to keep moving down the tree line to seek safety.

If you want a straight-forward, very practical rain jacket that will keep you dry in just about any rainy weather, look no further. That said, this is not necessarily a jacket that will keep you too warm as it does not have any real insulation there are other Columbia jackets that would probably tick that box at a slightly higher price range. The material is very breathable so you don't have to worry about getting uncomfortably clammy and ultimately more wet than if you were to try and stay dry during some warm weather drizzles. It also works fairly well as a windbreaker. I used this as a shell over some fleece and it warded off some of those sharp wind chills pretty effectively. This also seems like it would be a good option for commuting cyclist who might need some protection from the elements but not get completely soggy with sweat. There are no pockets other than the front hand pockets, which might be a downside for some folks, but it's not really a big deal as the front pockets have ample room and zippers to seal off important items. Sizing seems pretty accurate. It looked and felt great in my size whether I added layers underneath or didn't. The jacket folders into one of the hand pockets if you need it to be really compact for traveling. All in all, great jacket.

A great lightweight jacket to wear on an very cool morning or evening. Made from tightly woven nylon, it provides good ventilation to prevent sweating while providing protection from the rain. And, like all my gear that I wear in foul weather, I plan to spray it with additional waterproofing spray.

This rain jacket fits great! I'm 6 feet so I ordered an XL. Water slides off the jacket no problem. I do suggest you wear something underneath it if it's cool outside.

Originally ordered a M but found it was too tight to wear over a down sweater. So I returned the M and got a L to replace it. Should work fine. Only had one opportunity to wear in light rain but it seemed to work just fine.
