I used this jacket all summer in Colorado, and it makes a great rain shell to take to the mountain trails. It packs really well and the waterproofing is top-notch. The packable hood is a nice feature, but it made the collar of the jacket a little bit too tall for my taste. It also runs a bit big for its size, but this allows for extra layers underneath.

Good, dependable, light coat. This is my 3rd Precip in 20 years. I did notice the hanging loop has gotten smaller.

I have a Marmot goretex raincoat; however, was heading back East and wanted something lighter. The pre-cip is the perfect weight for summer rains. I love the color selection, as well. My only comment is that it was a 'snugger' fit than I like in a rain jacket. Rain jackets always go over something else. Not sure why it is so fitted. I am 5'3"; 115 lbs with little stomach spread. I ordered the small.

Bought this jacket for a trip to Maine. It worked great for the wind and rain. Nice cut. Werid color, not as bright on website, more of a dull muddy color for the greenish blue one.

I have an Large size PreCip from about 4 years ago; it's roomy L and I can wear it with a light down under it. I wanted another for my golf bag but the newly ordered L fit like a small. Zappos handled the return & credit well. I ordered again, this time an XL. I was looking for that roomy fit for an layer and sufficient movement for a golf swing. But, no. So if its been a while since you purchased this brand, know that Marmot has 'downsized' which is unfortunate. My old PreCip is now doing duty in my golf bag. I am keeping the new one for summer rainy days. The navy color and collar/hood are flattering and the fabric is soft and light.

I am looking for a structured and lightweight waterproof jacket and it would be perfect if the hoodie can be hided or detached. This jacket almost meets all my needs and I really like that it is packable. However, it is lack of structure, so I decided not to have it.

I just received mine and tried it on. I like the way it looks. I am 5'7" 140 pounds, ordered a medium and it's roomy enough to wear thicker clothing underneath if I want to. I bought it to take it to the Amazon so I don't expect I'll be wearing much underneath. Just wanted something that would keep me dry if it rains. I like the color. I like everything so far except it's a bit noisy. I have other windbreakers and none are this noisy. I bought and returned (only because I decided to get a different color) the North Face Resolve and that did not make this much noise. But I will keep it because for the Amazon I think i'm going appreciate the arm pit vent.

I bought the PreCip after extensive reviews for a lightweight rain jacket. The cost seems a bit pricey for a casual jacket to wear when it's raining (not necessarily outdoor activity), but the reviews were great so I went for it. The jacket really is great at keeping me dry in the rain. The zip linings inside the arm pit are a nice feature. The only complaint I have is that the wrist cuffs are loose-fitting, and adjustable with velcro. For the cost of the jacket, I expected a much higher quality cuff - even elastic cuffs would be a nicer touch. I gave 3 stars for style simply because the velcro cuffs are tacky.

Used this on a recent trip and was very pleased. There was no rain to test the waterproof qualities but it's comfortable and lightweight - just enough to take the chill off a cool morning bide ride. I like the fold up hood in the collar. Wish it had a travel bag to pack it up, but it rolls up quite small and doesn't wrinkle too much.

The jacket itself was lovely. I loved my other Marmot size small so bought another. Sadly, the new cut is just a few inches longer in the past. It hit me at the largest part of my hips and I couldn't close it! I feel like a lot of "outdoor" gear is made to fit very narrow girls. I'm not large enough for plus sizes. Surely I'm not the only woman with hips!

Could use more room in the armpits and a chest pocket and an inside pocket.

I bought this to replace my PreCip and ordered one size larger to accommodate layers underneath and the new one is actually smaller than the one I'm replacing and it's the same brand/style. I can't comment on functionality, yet, and the only other physical difference is that the outer shell feels more thin than my current coat.

It's just a regular rain coat. Nothing special about it. It's a little stiffer than I'd like, but it's ok

Jacket is fine. Shipping took almost a week longer than the "guaranteed" delivery window, which was extremely disappointing.

The pockets aren't waterproof? They're nets? Is this a Columbia jacket? Otherwise the jacket is good

Too narrow and sizing runs small. Would be impossible to wear over other layers.

Good looking jacket, nice fit. Doesn't live up to the hype. Doesn't keep you dry!

I bought this in lavender to replace a Columbia version that was ripped. The fit is snug but some room for a sweatshirt underneath. My only complaint is the front colar comes up to my nose and there isn't any built-in feature to roll it down. The hip is also a bit snug but that is a common wardrobe issue for me. I'm 5'4 185 and purchased the large.

The shell is light weight and packable. The first time that I tried the waterproofing was a four mile urban walk in a steady rain. The jacket performed very well. There was no leakage from the outside and no condensation on the inside. I was very much impressed. I kept the jacket in a bag inside the main compartment of a daypack and used it several times during downpours while hiking. Once at home I would let it dry and the put it back in the pack. It performed well for awhile but like all good thing it came to an end and let's water through the no existent barrier. I don't think there will be another Precip in my future. Too costly for a temporary water barrier.

My wife has a similar medium Marmot jacket that she purchased several years ago. She found this medium jacket to be considerably smaller. Also the jacket's material was noticeably thinner then her exiting one. We returned it rather than exchanging it. Disappointing

This jacket lasted me about a solid year of (mostly) waterproofing, until the fabric and lining began to deteriorate and let water right through. This is a great warm weather shell if you don't mind getting a bit soggy, and is at a stellar price point, but doesn't get the job done in severe weather after a bit of use.

The color was nothing like it was on my monitor and Oceanic was actually Turquoise blue! Bright, cheery, but not what I wanted. I have returned it and reordered in Deep Dusk (after checking the color on other websites).

When I ordered this jacket, I was hoping for something that felt a little heftier. The jacket is very thin and light-weight and makes a great addition to my layering system. In a perfect world, it would be more versatile, but it definitely does the job intended. The jacket does keep out water, but its threshold for oversaturation is pretty low.

I ordered the medium in this jacket, but it was too small across my shoulders. The North Face Resolve had a better fit and also felt nicer.
