Gave my son my 15 year old Marmot rain jacket (What was I thinking?). So, I recently ordered a new one; same color and style. Everything's great except the left and right side zipper vents. There's no mesh material once unzipped! If it's warm and raining, you have to leave it zipped up; otherwise you will get wet.

I will be walking the Camino de Santiago this year and am looking forward to this being my only jacket on the trek. Whether it be rain or I need to layer under it for warmth.
I pretty much wear a medium in everything, but the medium fit like a small. I returned it and reordered a large which I received today. It is the size I thought the medium would be.
It appears to have all the features I'm looking for, so am excited to have it for my walk.
I can't recommend the long term wear, but I like the new product.

Love the jacket I would have given it a 5 star but the jacket fits fine if not a little loose on top but across my stomach the fit is very snug. Marmots sizing seems to kinda run on the small size. A large would have been to big in the chest and sleeves.

There's no inside pockets , other than that the jacket is good for light rain

I bought this to replace my previous PreCip Eco jacket because the lining had deteriorated. My fingers are crossed that the lining on this one will be more durable. I really like so many of the features: how the hood stows in the collar, lightweight and breathable material, waterproof finish, zippered pockets, velcro cuffs and drawstrings on the hood. I had gotten many compliments on my previous royal blue jacket and was disappointed that Royal Night is darker and a duller shade of blue than before. Another change is in the fit. The new jacket fits more narrowly at the hips. Since I wear the Eco PreCip jacket for xc-sking, hiking, etc. I expect it will feel snugger when wearing a fleece layer under it.
The delivery was quicker than I expected. This jacket is a good value, since the Royal Night was offered at a great price.

Color is as I had hoped. Silvery gray. Very nice for Spring. Fits very well and as expected. It's winter here so I have not worn it at all yet.

Fit is a little snug if you want to add more than one layer of size up. More pockets would be great.

I bought a Precip rain jacket 6 years ago and it is not only my go to for rain around town but goes on all my backpacking adventures. I considered buying a hardshell for winter to protect my down coat, but my Precip already does the job well. I just refresh the waterproofing treatment and it keeps on protecting me. Thanks MARMOT, BIll P

Only complaint is lack of a 2-way zipper. Tree branches scratched material, but did not tear or materially damage jacket.

i needed a packable rain jacket, and this has become my go-to rain coat. the light weight design makes it easy to store in my backpack. the velcro cuffs keep rain out, and I can roll the hood into itself when not needed. it's perfect for light to medium rain.

I like this jacket, but the sleeves should be roomier. I have suggested this before seeing no response or change. The sleeves are too tight around the forearms to accommodate extra layers, long-sleeve shirt, sweater, without uncomfortable binding.
Also, I liked the elastic sleeve cuffs that came with previous versions of this jacket.
And finally, the sleeves are too long for this small- "S/P/CH" -size. I have to roll the cuffs under twice to achieve a good fit. See photos.

There has been no rain, so I have no idea how well this jacket will work. It is soft and much lighter than my NorthFace rain jacket. The jacket storage pocket accommodated my REI rain pants, so that's a great feature. Hope to test it soon. Purchased for back country backpacking. I'm going to answer, "Yes," when asked if I would recommend this jacket, but I honestly do not know if I would recommend it or not. If I get a chance, I will update this review after testing it in an actual rain.

After eleven years without any issues, I purchased a newer version of and while I haven't changed in size (medium 8-10), the same sized jacket is tighter. I agree with other reviewers; this runs small and has more of a fitted feel to it. It's not tight, but I won't be able to wear a lighter hoodie/sweatshirt underneath.

I bought this coat in the spring and have only worn it a couple times since we have been in a drought. It did keep me dry. I bought a Large based on the size chart. I'm usually between L-XL, size 12 pants. I'm right in the middle of the measurements for Large. I can zip the coat around my hips but it's very snug. Otherwise it fits me around the chest and top. I'm pear shaped so it can be tough to find something that fits around my hips and isn't too baggy on top. I would not be able to wear this coat over a sweatshirt.

My wife and I keep one of these around for literally everyday use. Is packs away small enough to be our go to jacket for travel near and far.

I used this jacket all summer in Colorado, and it makes a great rain shell to take to the mountain trails. It packs really well and the waterproofing is top-notch. The packable hood is a nice feature, but it made the collar of the jacket a little bit too tall for my taste. It also runs a bit big for its size, but this allows for extra layers underneath.

Good, dependable, light coat. This is my 3rd Precip in 20 years. I did notice the hanging loop has gotten smaller.

I have a Marmot goretex raincoat; however, was heading back East and wanted something lighter. The pre-cip is the perfect weight for summer rains. I love the color selection, as well. My only comment is that it was a 'snugger' fit than I like in a rain jacket. Rain jackets always go over something else. Not sure why it is so fitted. I am 5'3"; 115 lbs with little stomach spread. I ordered the small.

Bought this jacket for a trip to Maine. It worked great for the wind and rain. Nice cut. Werid color, not as bright on website, more of a dull muddy color for the greenish blue one.

Nice light weight jacket but the extra large was barely as big as a large size should be. I'm 5'9" and 180 lbs and the XL was very tight across my back and shoulders when over nothing more than a shirt and light fleece sweater. Normally an XL would have been loose over that clothing.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Pricey for what it is, but seems to be of quality construction. The inside of the hood is white, which is a little funny looking on an all-black jacket.

I bought this as a light-weight rain jacket for a trip to Florida, where I knew it would be hot and raining. It did the job of keeping me dry in the rain and I found that it breathes fine, but when it was hot and I was sweating, it did get a little clammy inside. So, a mesh liner would have been nice to create a little air between your skin and the smooth lining (reason for four stars). Additionally, it would be nice if it had an inner or outer chest pocket. Overall though, it does the job of keeping you dry in the rain. Just take note that this is very light and more like a waterproof windbreaker rather than a jacket, so I wouldn't recommend it by itself for cold temps. FYI, I chose this over the North Face Venture jacket, as North Face's color schemes seem a bit goofy this year and the Marmot Precip just looked a little classier. Quality and functionality was even for the two, though.
I'd also recommend:
North Face

The jacket itself was lovely. I loved my other Marmot size small so bought another. Sadly, the new cut is just a few inches longer in the past. It hit me at the largest part of my hips and I couldn't close it! I feel like a lot of "outdoor" gear is made to fit very narrow girls. I'm not large enough for plus sizes. Surely I'm not the only woman with hips!
