I don't understand the negative reviews on this shoe. I love mine. Hiking boots are not supposed to feel all cushy inside like a good pair running shoes. You usually have to break in hiking shoes. I haven't even had to break these shoes in. They're very comfortable. Also, I went out to run errands today and stepped in water and snow and my feet did not get wet. I guess if you're going to hold your foot down in water, your foot would get wet naturally. For the purpose I bought these shoes, they are terrific. I usually buy a 9 1/2 W in running shoes (the 1/2 is to keep my toenails from getting damaged when I walk on the treadmill). In this shoe I bought a 9 1/2 regular width. Hope this review helps.

Didn't get a chance to wear this pair yet. They are a replacement of another color of the same style shoe. The other color the treads on the bottom broke off in pieces. Can't understand why this happened. So Zappos being as wonderful as they are sent me a replacement in another color. I have been buying Merrell shoes for many years and this is the first time something like this has happened. I also felt the shoes were made with cheap materials in comparison to past Merrill purchases I have made.

These shoes are on the uglier side of things. I got the Kangaroo color and the green is quite vivid (not subdued at all). But as soon as I put them on I was almost happy with them. Like others, my complaint is with the crummy insoles...they do nothing. I swapped them out for my custom orthotics (which I normally only need/wear with shoes that have little support, such as dressy Mary Janes) and it made a huge difference. I've had them now for about 2 weeks and have worn them on at least 4 occasions for 6 or more hours. Tons of support throughout the shoe, very comfortable, just generally feel great. I have a wide, flat, square foot (think Fred Flintstone) and generally am quite happy with Merrells...these are no exception. Would have given them 5 stars for "Overall" and "Comfort" had the insoles been better. And for a shoe at this price they should have been. Otherwise, these shoes are great!

These shoes are very nice for walking or light hiking. As some others had noted in their reviews (which I read before ordering), the insole is thin and makes the shoe feel hard. After removing the insole and adding my own, the problem was resolved. These shoes are not the priciest I have bought, but they should have a better insole for the price. I have another pair of Merrell's that I bought a couple of years ago and the insole in these was perfect.

I've been a wearer of the Siren Sport for years but lately I haven't been liking the colors and the look as much. I was so glad I went with the Azura. The fit is really similar but I think the look is a lot more suitable for everyday wear. I have the Castle Rock/Mineral and I like that the color is a bit subtle and usually it just looks gray.

I was very pleased with my new Merrell's. I have difficulty finding shoes that are comfortable yet sturdy to stop pronation. These are perfect. Fairly lightweight, nice color goes with jeans or casual slacks.

There are AWESOME! I purchased a 7w and they fit. Great wiggle room in the toe box, don't squash my toes together AND I can wear mid weight socks with them. I'm in love, will probably buy another pair in lighter colors once they become available! I can't wear wide widths that taper, like some other shoes do, but the Azura's are perfect! If you have wide, splayed feet give these a go!

I've been looking for waterproof shoes to wear for work for a while, but my feet are a little picky. I've finally decided on these, but with one caveat - I ordered a pair of Merrell Mocs at the same time, and at one point while trying them on, I swapped the insoles of the two shoes. What a difference! The insoles in the Azuras are fairly hard and sculpted, while the insoles in the Mocs are super squishy and soft - just right for my feet! I'm going to look into whether I can order squishier insoles from Merrell, but in the meantime I've got some $3 insoles from CVS in on top of the original insoles.

I used the foot measuring tool and measured right at size 9. Tried on both size 9W and 9.5W. The size 9 fits just right. Felt snug with thicker socks but comfortable. The toe box feels acceptable for a D width foot and had some length room for my big toe. I jammed my foot forward to see if the tip would hit my toe/toe nail and it did not.

I bought these in black. They're even cuter in person and I'd love to say I was able to keep them. Thought the size felt okay, my heel kept slipping out. I took out the insole and they fit perfectly...except they need some cushioning. I'm super bummed these didn't work.

Some of the previous reviews are spot on, when it comes to comfort. I'm a fan of Merrel, but these particular shoes aren't very comfortable. It may be my foot, but after wearing them in the house for the afternoon, my feet are so sore from all the "hard" areas inside the shoe, that I have to return them. Not much cushion at all, either. Expected much more comfort for this price.

Terrific fit! Good arch and pronation support! I really like the color. I have extremely narrow feet, and they can be tightened to fit without slipping up. Thanks!

A little about me - I walk a lot. I walk on dirt trails and asphalt, on roads and road shoulders, around the city and the suburban sidewalks. I needed a shoe that could handle the upcoming fall and winter in the northeastern United States. My old shoes and boots fell apart in less than a year, the salt on the roads and sidewalks helped destroy them, and they were never as water proof as I wanted. About the shoes - I have received many compliments on the style. It combines the rugged hiking shoe with the more indoor acceptable tennis shoe style. Colors are great - not too bright, which was a concern before buying. After thoroughly testing it on sidewalks, roads, trails, and muddy farms I can say that they are the best waterproof shoes I've worn. However, they have no traction. I have slid down the aisle of a subway twice. I've gone sliding down hills that are not steep. This makes these shoes basically useless for me.

These are awesome shoes! I wear a wide so and they run big. No breaking in required and they are really comfortable!

I bought these shoes for my daughter. She says they fit to true size, very roomy in front and solid support, stylish, too. She and I have wide feet and bunion, always searching for comfortable shoes, finding the right fit, We are very happy I finally found a pair of hiking shoes that provide good support and comfort.

Not a very comfortable shoe. The material is hard. I don't feel the arch support. I do feel the cushion but the cushion is hard. It hurts my left foot the entire time I was wearing it. I think I may need to get arch support insert to make it work for my feet. The color is brighter on the picture than in person. I thought it would be more pinkish. I am still keeping it because this is going to work for the light snow day to supermarket and black ice outside the drive way and parking lot. I will wear it from the house to the car and into the office to work, then switch over to regular shoe in the snow days.

This shoe looks really great on the foot and is very comfy for usual day wear - but, here are my other findings: 1. the shoe is not "waterproof" - specifically the mesh toe area (found this out the hard way!) 2. if using as a day-trail walking shoe - it's difficult to get a good secure lace-up so small pebbles are able to enter the shoes and frequent re-ties were required So, if you're NOT planning to use this shoe as a waterproof trail-walking shoe then it's all good - else, best to find a better option here on Zappos - perhaps the Merrell Siren 2 Sport (a very good option IF you don't have a wide foot). Happy trails!

I got the Azura on recommendation from someone at Merrell. I've worn Merrell's Siren Sport and S.S. 2 for years, but after owning about 15 pairs, I got so bored with the colors that I couldn't stand to buy them anymore. Most of the newer (and less comfortable) Merrell styles that have more up-to-date colors also have the flatter type sole, which won't accommodate my orthotic. Also, many of the Siren Sports are now waterproof, which makes them much stiffer, and less comfortable. This person at Merrell suggested the Azura, saying the fit was the most similar. I'm not sure I'd say it's very similar; it's comes up higher on the sides, and even though I put my own orthotic in them, they still don't feel comfortable. The Siren Sport felt great as soon as I put them on, with no breaking in period. The Azuras are stiff and bulky, and I'm not sure they'd ever feel comfortable. I'm sending these back, and am disappointed with Merrell. It was so simple to buy a new pair whenever I needed them or wanted a new color - which was very often, since I wear them every day. I hope I can find another brand that fits soon!

I'm a long-time fan of Merrell's and once again I was not disappointed. These replaced an older pair of tennis shoes and I'm glad I went for a hiking shoe. I wasn't worried about the insole in these as I have custom orthotics which fit into these shoes perfectly. I'm really happy with the look, comfort, and fit of these shoes. I had no break-in period at all.

I wear a 11 wide and have difficulty finding a shoe that fits comfortably. I needed a good hiking shoe for trip to Colorado. This shoe fit perfect. They are roomy and supportive. I didn't take the time "break in" the shoes before my trip. The first time I wore them was on a 13 hike. I had no problems with them at all. I'm very happy with this shoe.

I love Merrell shoes and have owned many pairs. These shoes just haven't lived up to what I expect from Merrell. They do not provide enough support and I find all day of walking in they my feet are killing me.

Great fit! Like the colors too. I had swollen feet since I'm 7 months pregnant and these sneakers gave me the support without being too tight.

I do a lot of hiking on trails around my home and these shoes are great. They keep my feet dry (unless there's a deep puddle) and provide good traction and support. I love them!

Unfortunately, I had to send these back. The length was okay but they were not wide enough. Normally I wear an extra wide in sneakers but since these don't really have any 'give' on the sides, they were too narrow.

Not just the prettiest hiking boot ever, but the roomiest! These are very sturdy and, given that, are going to take some breaking in, and they do feel a bit off on my "wonky" foot that isn't shaped like normal feet. Enough about that, though! I'm quite pleased; these are some solid shoes.
