Unfortunately I have to send these back. I'm normally an 8.5. I ordered a 9 and they are too short. Plan to try a 9.5. Zappos makes it easy to return.

These shoes are truly comfortable. Right out of the box, I wore them for 12 hours straight with no discomfort. They seem true to size. The toe box may be a bit wider than similar shoes but that suits me as I prefer to wear shoes like this with medium-weight socks. I'm very pleased and highly recommend them.

I wanted to clarify something on these shoes which I think Zappos should do too. These are NOT waterproof! The simply have waterproof leather on the shoe which protects the leather itself from being ruined by getting them wet but it does not provide waterproof protection for your foot. This shoe comes in a waterproof version which has the M-DRY membrane bootie lining which will keep your foot dry from outside elements. I find that the waterproof version (I have the mid version of this exact shoe) is very hot and made my feet feel "clammy" so I did not like them. They are useless if your feet stay dry from rain, snow, etc but get wet from sweat! These, while not waterproof, are more breathable. It's too bad about the waterproof membrane making my feet sweat because they could be one of the most comfy shoes I've ever had, and I have troublesome feet! Great arch support, roomy toes (tho do size half size up) and not stiff at all. Hope this helps you choose.

Let me say right up front, I'm a HUGE Merrell's fan. I have had foot surgery, plantar fasciitis and Achilles Tendon problems within the past 3 years and require a minimalist shoe. No matter what I need them for, casual or, in this case, hiking, Merrell's always comes through with the support that my foot problems require. They are always what I have on my feet. These did not disappoint....a great hiking shoe, grips well but without the higher ankle wrap that aggravates my Achilles tendon. All that being said, after about 6 short hikes in a local area, the upper part of these shoes is already looking creased and worn, even though they've never gotten wet or been terribly abused. I will love and wear them until they fall apart, but am surprised to see this in a Merrell.

I love these! I bought for a "winter sneaker" because I fast walk my dog a few times a day. They are very sturdy, light weight, tons of support and cute!

These shoes are comfortable and run true to size. I normally need to order a wide but these were wide enough in the regular size. I recommend them!

I have been suffering from plantar fasciitis and this shoe offers excellent support. I bought these shoes to wear for walking trails. They are more flexible than typical hiking shoes but offer a good tread. I like that they are waterproof for rainy days although, I haven't put them to test on that yet. They fit well with no slipping in the heel like so many of the other brands I tried. Also, the charcoal moss is a good neutral color.

Great for every day in the winter, especially on light snow/ice. Merrell comfort, as usual. Fantastic walking shoe - waterproof. Looks great.

Bought these trail shoes for my recent trip to Peru. We didn't do any serious hiking so it held up perfectly for the "off road" terrain at all our sights. Even held up perfectly in the heavy rain at Machu Picchu. It's very light weight but a little on the narrow side. But I have wide feet so that was expected. And I usually buy a 1/2 size bigger in athletic shoes to accommodate for thicker socks. It worked great! The shoe broke in well. After a two week trek, the shoes are starting to look worn (faded gray, creases, etc.). But I really didn't expect them to still look brand new considering the weather conditions in Peru. Overall, it's a great shoe. And I love the color!

I was worried when I saw from other reviews that these are part of Merrells minimalist line, but there was no need to fear. The only thing that feels minimalist about them is their weight - they are so fabulously light! I bought them for a late August trip to Norway, where I knew that I would be doing a lot of walking, and aside from a hike where I knew that I would need more between me and the rocks that I was scrambling over, I wore these puppies the whole time.

Wonderful shoe. I like Merrells because they always fit my foot and accommodate my inserts. This shoe has a wonderful comfortable support. Snugs up well and no sore spots whatsoever. I wear a size 10 in Merrells and these fit true to size.

I bought these shoes for our vacation to Massachusetts and Vermont. It was great right out of the box, sturdy, but lightweight with a nice gripping sole. We hiked all over the western part of Massachusetts and even up the strenuous hike to the top of Race Brook Falls. Didn't have to stop to tighten the laces even without double knotting. Will be buying another pair as soon as I get home.

These shoes turned out to be exactly what I hoped they'd be. Although I spent little time in them before my trip, I managed to hike the intense 28 mile Inca Trail with no problem. I especially appreciated the roomy toe box, as I had broken a pinky toe several weeks earlier and it was still tender. I would highly recommend these shoes.

These are the most comfortable shoes I own! I've worn them on light hiking trips and trekking through the city. I was a little concerned about the barefoot technology of the shoe. My feet have never been more comfortable! These shoes are the best!

I bought these shoes for a trip to Cambodia during the wet season. I didn't go hiking in these but did wear them to explore the temples, where the ground was often uneven and slippery from rain. These shoes were pretty comfortable straight out of the box and did not take much to break in. (And I have wide feet.) They are waterproof, lightweight - great for travel, and cute too. I am very happy with my purchase!

I love them. I had to wear them on a seven day hiking trip and never got sick of wearing these shoes.

After several attempts to replaces a 20-year-old pair of Salomon day hikers that I absolutely loved, I finally tried these. I took them out this weekend and they are fabulous. My feet feel supported, but the shoes are lightweight and provide a lot of flexibility. They are part of Merrell's barefoot line, but aren't as minimal as my Pace Gloves. Perfect shoes for the kind of light hiking I do occasionally these days.

The shoe fits very comfortably (1/2 size up from my normal size, worn with hiking socks) except that the tongue presses against the vein on the top of my foot, which tends to be very uncomfortable. Otherwise, they fit like a glove and I am so sorry that I couldn't wear them.

I love, love, LOVE these hikers so much that I'm seriously thinking about buying another pair in case Merrell decides to stop making them! I've had plantar fasciitis on both feet and have had 2 neuromas removed from my right foot. I teach nature and science to children and am outside on my feet most of the time so I need hiking shoes that support my feet and are waterproof. These hikers are lightweight, have good arch support, and they accommodate my custom orthotics. The shoe has a bellows tongue to keep out debris and lugs rather than eyelet holes so water can't get in. I wear a size 7M and the fit is perfect! I love the plum color and these shoes are cute on my feet. When I order another pair (which I most likely will do), I'll have trouble deciding between the plum perfect, black/slate, and black/silver colors. I am very happy with these hikers and, of course, Zappos service was fabulous, as always.

Merrell has become my go-to shoe company! I have a pair of barefoot type Merrells that I wear to the gym, and I wanted a walking shoe that felt the same yet would be a little more rugged. I bought these shoes for light trail walking and they were comfortable right out of the box. It's as if they were made specifically for my feet. They are lightweight, yet rugged and supportive. Perfect!

I'm not a hiker, just a dog walker, but I still require a good fit and support. I usually wear a 10 wide or 10.5; I have a high arch, bunions and skinny heels & ankles. After my first walk in these, I love the arch, wide toe box and secure fit. The waterproof feature allows us to tromp through wet grass. And they're good looking - love the plum color!

I've never written a review before but I wanted to share my positive experience with these boots--absolutely perfect, right out of the box. It was a huge risk buying hiking boots online, but I took a chance because Merrell's typically fit me. I hiked 9 miles up and down hills the day after I got them with no problems at all. Hiked 9 miles again this past Saturday. Perfect. I have sketchy feet--bunions, which can ruin a hike, but the Merrell Allout Blaze hiking boots are wide enough to accommodate them. They're unlike any other hiking boots I've worn to date. I wear a size 8.5 street shoe and 9.5 - 10 in hiking boots. The 9.5 was spot on.

I have a terrible time finding shoes. I am a size 11, medium width, high arch, narrow-ish heel, and very sensitive skin (prone to blisters, rub spots, etc.) These shoes are heaven. They are made with soft but strong leather, have just enough padding to be comfortable but still allow you to feel the terrain under foot, and -- my favorite part -- have plenty of room in the toes. They are true to size. Some Merrells run small, but this fits me perfectly with enough room for either a regular sock, or a medium-thickness hiking sock. Also, the color! I got the black slate/blush, and style-wise it is just what I was hoping to find in a comfortable hiking shoe. It's rugged and outdoorsy, but has just enough of a touch of maroony purple and pink to make them feminine, too. I have some arch issues, and sometimes feel pain when a shoe makes me pronate inwards, but these shoes really hug your feet and adjust to make for a custom fit. Excellent shoe, well worth the money.

Ordered a 9.5 - same size I wear in Nikes, but it was half a size too big. The 9's fit perfectly. One of the most comfortable shoes I have owned. Shipping and returns were a breeze as usual.

This shoe is must for metatarsal sufferers. I have to put a Birkenstock Blue insert in every shoe I own but not this one. I have other Merrell's as well, two other pair, they take special attention to foot comfort but this shoe is perfect right out of the box. I was a Hairdresser for 45 years standing on my feet all day. Congrats Merrell, well done!
