I bought these over 2-1/2 years ago. Worn them nearly every day since. So this is a long term review. Initial break in was truly excruciating. I could not wear them for any longer than an hour. That’s even after greasing them up, liberally, inside and out. It took about 2 weeks to work them in and I could wear them for a 10 hour shift. I put in an arch support insole. The footbed is flat and I have flat feet. The arch support made a huge difference. They are very comfortable, supportive, and durable. I walk on concrete, 10-12 hours a day. Now after over 2-1/2 years they need to be re-soled. As such I bought a pair of Red Wing Moc Toe. So I’d have boots while these get serviced, and I wanted to see which was better. The Red Wings are comfortable out of the box. But the footbed is like a rock and they are too tight to put an insole in them. They aren’t too small, just not enough room for an insole. As such they hurt to wear all day. I’ve gone back to the TG until I can figure something else out. I can’t wear the RW for work. In conclusion, I wish I’d have just got another pair of these TG, and not the RW. I highly recommend them. 2-1/2 years on the soles, that surpasses anything I’ve ever worn and exceeded my expectations. I love my Thorogood Moc Toe boots.

These are my 3rd pair of Thorogood Moc Toes and and I'm not sure I'll ever get any other boot. My one complaint is that the toe box tends to be a bit narrow and take a while to break in. Wear them loose and tighten them as they break in.

These have turned out to be a really good pair of boots. They were a little tight when I first received them so I limited the time I wore them during the first few days and gradually they broke in. Now they fit perfect and they're my "go-to" boots for every job.

I have been working in factories for 30 years as a maintenance technician. I’m now a manager so my time on the floor isn’t quite what it used to be. I’ve worn every boot imaginable and this I my review of the Thorogood moc toes. These boots are extremely well made. Stitching is perfect. Leather is super soft and smells incredible. These boots are COMFORTABLE right out of the box! I don’t think they will hold up as well as Red Wings but I don’t need that riding a desk and only being on the shop floor a few hours each day. Don’t get me wrong, the leather is decent thickness, it is just soft. I wear size 11 in Nike’s, 10.5 in other things, 10 in Res Wings and bought these in 10. They fit perfect. These boots would be best for standing/walking all day on concrete or steel beams. If you’re doing a lot of crawling and kneeling, I’d be worried the toe or leather would wear quicker than Red Wings. I’d rate these boots a respectable 8.5/10. PROS: Super buttery soft leather, ZERO break in period, comfortable on day one, wedge sole is comfortable, no hot spots, look good (if you care), Union made in the U.S.A CONS: Compared to RW, the leather doesn’t feel quite as thick, laces are just average and not heavy duty, top eyelet is dumb! They need to make it a speed hook.

beautifully made boot but break in is brutal. the only reason i am suffering through the break in is because of the quality of this boot. as reviewers have noted the triple stich point at the fore foot was nearly unbearable for me. i took out the oversized insole and put in a thin leather insole. made a big difference as i think it is more suited to the design of the boot and the boot fits much less tight. mink oil , shoe stretchers , and heat were all employed. almost there but still a bit uncomfortable at the end of a work day. if your boots were tight like mine and you plan on keeping them replace the insole with a thin one. it makes you want to keep them.

I love this boot! I was debating getting this or a comparable Red Wing boot and decided on this brand because I read about the brutal break-in period on Red Wings. This was comfortable right out of the box. Despite what some folks say on Zappos, I bought my true shoe size (not a half size down) and am glad I did. Any smaller and the boot would be uncomfortable. Started wearing the boot the same day it arrived without any problems or discomfort. The quality is fantastic and it seems built to last. Very glad I bought this over the Red Wing (which I know is an excellent boot, I just didn't want to go through a painful break-in process). Highly recommended.

after 3.5 years, time to buy a second pair. fantastic boot. size 9 fit me, normally i'm a 9.5.

Awesome work boot, this is my third pair(second from Zappos). Highly recommend, and best prices from Zappos. They do run approximately 1/2 size big. I wear a ten, and 9 1/2 is a perfect fit.

I think everyone has read the "comfortable, right out of the box" reviews of numerous shoes/boots. I'm very picky about fit and comfort and this is one boot that I can honestly say will live up to the quoted description for a majority of buyers.

Good fit, wear 8-1/2 to 9 in boots. Got the 8.5 & sent back for the 9. Nice color, solid build, will last!

They did need to be broken in for about two weeks, but now they are very comfortable and they look great. I work in the office and on construction sites and I can wear them at either location.

Great boot, tough yet stylish

Right shoe is a bit wider than the left at the heel. Maybe after beak in they’ll tighten up a bit.

I've been wearing these boots, to work, regularly for the past five months. I'm in an office seventy five percent of the time and a warehouse/fab shop the rest. I'm on my feet moving around the majority of the day. I love these boots, they're super comfortable and look great, especially when they break in. they definitely run large with lots of room in the toe area. I've worn them through a hot summer in the Bronx with minimum discomfort (for work boots). The boots were comfortable right out of the box and have held up well. I keep them clean and have conditioned them once. I use neatsfoot oil with these to minimize the darkening. Overall a great boot and will purchase again.

I wanted a work boot that not only works like you want a work boot to Not only do these fit that bill, they are so comfort I sometimes forget to change out of them at the end of the day. They are really well-made, and have a rugged look - a look they deserve completely. I highly recommend them, and, personally, was really happy to see they offer widths. The EE makes a nice difference, for those of us with a wider forefoot.

One of the best pair of boots I'v ever purchased. ((Get one full size smaller! )) Top noch craftsmanship and leather quality with attention to details. Gets my 5 stars. I get many compliments when I wear them. They look great with jeans for going out and they are very functional if you plan to use them for work. As soon as you get them Use "obenauf heavy duty LP" Boot Barn has them for about $15 or you can pick them up from Amazon. I use it on just about any quality leather good that I own. It portends leather from drying. It does make your leather a shade or two darker which is ok with me!

I was looking for a boot with a bit more style. Previously I was using Keen Detroit utility shoes, which are low cut and very mountaing hiking shoe looking. The Thorogoods allow me to put on a pair of boots in the morning and not have to change back and forth like I did with the Keen s. They were surprisingly comfortable and got broken in in about two days. They are also quite cool. They will give out about 1/s size. I unusually wear 10.5 or 11 on almost any brand or type of shoe. Ordered these a 10.5. If I were to order again I would get 10 s.
