I stopped purchasing J&M shoes years ago because of the limited space in the toe box. I do not have wide feet and used to wear J&M shoes. Something has changed and I haven't worn their shoes in several years. I gave it another shot with this boot and I also had the toe box stretched. I tried to break them in over a few months. I will most likely give the pair away. The J&M fit just isn't for me. I wear a size 11.5 M in other brands. I tried a Wide, but that was too wide.

Good looking boot. Very unusual fit. The heel was very WIDE and the toe was very tight. I am normally a 12 and tried 12 and 11 1/2. Returned both due to slipping heel.

This shoe is fairly comfortable, but the leather is extremely poor quality and the brown finish scuffed the first time I wore it. I would not recommend this shoe.

I only wear Johnson & Murphy dress shoes for work and the ones I have purchased have been excellent. I order these for non-work days and walking around and have to say I am very disappointed. They do not have the comfort level of the 3 pairs of Johnson & Murphy that I own and wear daily. I have worn them about 6 times and I think they are going to be donated. Maybe someone else will find them better than I do.

My first pair of these boots started disintegrating within about 6 weeks and was eventually replaced (free of charge, thankfully) by the retail outlet from which they were purchased. The second pair started showing signs of sole separation within a few weeks, and the heel finally fell completely off. Rather than try to get them replaced a second time, I'm just paying to have a cobbler reinforce the sole. Specifically, the heels on all four shoes became loose, with one eventually detaching completely. Three of the four shoes also had significant separation of the sole at the very front of the toe. There are no nails holding the heel in place, just an evidently weak adhesive. I'm 215lbs when carrying a laptop bag, and I used the first pair to walk to and from work, about 1.75 miles daily. The second pair I left at my office to change into each day, in order to avoid stressing them, but somehow they came apart even faster. I was not especially hard on them, and used them only on dry city streets. I expected more of J&M. They do look very nice (I have the full-grain leather) which is why I'm having them reinforced.
