Great boots all around. There are several variations of this boot out there. LLBean, JCrew, and Zappos all offer their own version. These to not have a pull tab on the back (JCrew) nor the speed lacing rivets; however, use the same sole and leather. The LlBeans don't have the Chippewa logo on the side, rather an LLBean logo on the tongue. These do come with the better quality orange insole. I'd put the quality above a higher priced rival model from Red Wing or Wolverine, and though you don't get Horween brand leather I find this holds us longer. If treated with Olefin or Minkoil, use sparingly as it will break down the firmness of the leather. Accurate to size. Has a reddish tint in daylight.

Great boot, looks great, breaks in easy, very comfortable. Treated with Obenhauf upon arrival. I recently had house fire boots shrunk but did not burn even though everything else in the garage did. Will definitely buy another pair in the near future!

I wear size 8 in tennis shoes and the size 7 fit me perfectly. I did not add an insert to the boot. The heel is already beginning to separate. If you pull on it, you can see the separation I'd say about 2% of the surface area has detached, but the remainder seems very strongly holding on - this was mentioned in many other reviews on this site and Amazon also but I figure if and when it falls off it will be an easy fix. I like that the boot has lace holes all the way up - no lace hooks at all. The boot looks very good and smells amazing. It fits amazingly right out of the box. Would be a 5 star if the heel were not detaching.

I'm a fan of these boots so far, but I've only been wearing them for about two weeks at this point. Like most other reviewers, I suggest getting a half size smaller (I'm normally a 12 and an 11.5 fits me perfectly). There is a breaking-in period and I had a little heel friction in the first couple days. Lacing tightly and up to the highest ring helped eliminate this. It's also important to note that the insole is not "cushiony" like typical shoes/boots, but I wouldn't describe it as uncomfortable. FWIW, I'm not sure there would be room to add a 3rd party insole. Other than that these are comfortable and I'm able to wear them more and more each day. I anticipate these shortly settling in as my everyday boot.

Received this boot in Crazy horse. The color is significantly lighter than that shown in the image. I would describe it as a beige rather than the nice dark brown shown.

These are my first pair of Chippewa boots and I have to say they are well built and look nice, good craftsmanship. The only thing stopping me from giving them five star is they do not come with insole. I had to contact Chippewa about the insole and they were happy to give me a pair of insole but had to wait 11 days for them to arrive. So any one who bought Chippewa boots and did not come with insole just contact Chippewa at their web page.

A super stylish and sturdy boot that will go well with jeans or slacks. The Vibram outsole makes these somewhat amenable to winter mushing. For a boot with a leather foot bed, the wear-in time is amazingly short and was never uncomfortable. My only gripe is that the quality of the heel is lacking: there is a noticeable seam where the heel was glued on. My feet are different from yours, but I wear my Cole Haan oxfords in size 9, my Red Wing 3141 chukkas in 8.5, and these Chippewas in 8.5 (with some room to give).

Service Boot in Crazy Horse color: Unfortunately these are going back. The color in the picture is no where near what I received. I would call these tan. I’m not the first to mention this in reviews. Zappos you guys gotta update the picture with the true color. Like others have said it runs about a 1/2 size large. I’m usually a 9.5. Should have gotten the 9.

As others have noted, the heel block is not always securely affixed to the bottom of the shoe. I need boots for traveling, and am returning these, because I can't risk having a heel fall off when I'm far away from a cobbler. Otherwise, they fit well for my somewhat narrow feet. The waxed laces hold tension well, which I like.

This is a really good looking boot, with gorgeous leather and a rich cordovan color. Additionally, I really like the speckled Vibram rubber sole. As some others have noticed with theirs, the heel block on mine was not properly glued and was already showing signs of coming part right out of the box (see pic). My opinion is that some decent quality control in the factory would make this boot an absolute gem and a steal compared to Wolverines and Red Wings.

I have to echo other feedback about lacking quality control . The boots I received had a cut in the upper part of the sole (see pic) and the leather stain was so thin in areas that they appeared gray.

I like the style, shape and overall feel of the boot. However, the Briar Pitstop colorway has a more weathered and distressed look than I wanted. On the part of the boot that flexes and creases when you walk, there was a distinctly orange and worn look. I wore the boots around my house for a whole day, and they’re reasonably comfortable. I just can’t get over the look issue. I’m returning them and trying a different color before I move on to other options. I also got a Bed Stu boot for comparison, and it looks a lot better next to this Chippewa offering.

The reviews were right. These shoes are BIG! I usually wear an 11 1/2 in Adidas and 11 in most dress shoes. I ordered these in 11D and they could easily be 12s. Not sure if I will go for a 10 1/2 or try a different boot. They look great though.

Usually wear a size 12 in all shoes. I had to re-order 2 separate times to get a size 11. Honestly they are still a tad to big but they don't make 10.75's just yet. Only issue they blocks on the heels have started to become separated after only 2 hours of wearing.

I bought these EXPENSIVE boots a few months ago. They were quite a bit larger than the advertised size, but I put in some cushioned insoles, and fixed that right up. They are CERTAINLY a boot that will require a breaking-in period before they are comfortable, but that is to be expected. My issue is this- after a relatively short period of wear- the black of the leather is scraping off to show the grey underneath. I do not use these boots for work, or other rough activities, so they do not get banged around. I wear them around town, and for evenings out. I have some leather dye I will apply to the EXTENSIVE area of leather damage- but I doubt to will look as nice as they did when I got them. I bought these about a year ago, but did not start wearing them regularly until three months ago, so this deterioration happened very quickly. I am disappointed I spent this kind of money to get such a result.

Handsome out of the box, but my pair was poorly made: both heels started to separate from the boot after a month of non-daily wear. But many thanks to Zappos for letting me return them for a refund. If you purchase, might want to get a half size down from your regular size (I take an 11.5 New Balance / 45 Euro, and 11 in these). You'll also need to provide your own insole (black Superfeet worked great for me) as these come without one, meaning that your foot lies directly on hard plastic and particleboard.

So, bought these boots at the end of 2014 and really never wore them as they were quite uncomfortable. However, I made a commitment to break them in, as I loved the classic simple style of the boot. I started wearing them religiously in 2017 and really developed a soft spot for the boots. Unfortunately I would tell you to save your money and direct you purchase elsewhere, as the heel of the boot began to detach and start to spin. After contacting Chippewa they said I was out of warranty and out of luck. Kinda ridiculous for a company that touts "Superior Craftsmanship" & "Unrivaled Quality". I attached photos that illustrate the condition of the boots and also a photo of the heel which shows the cracking from twisting off.
