A casual shoe for around-town wear with jeans and flannel shirts. Stiff at first but leather softens after two-day break-in. I like their easy slip-on styling. However, they scuff badly with each wearing. I'm hoping shoe polish will cover the scuffs. I gave them 4 stars because of the scuffing.

I am now on my second pairs of the Encore Eclipses in both brown and black. I got my first pair in medical school when I started on the wards and was on my feet all day/night, and I have just stuck with them as my go-to work shoe. I found these clogs to be more comfortable than wearing athletic shoes all day. They have good arch support, excellent overall cushioning, breathe well, and fit true to size for me (7½). They fit snugly enough to be secure, but loose enough for me that they are still comfortable if my feet have swollen a bit after 16 hour days. I see many people in the medical profession wearing danskos, but I tried some of those and did not feel they had a soft enough footbed for me, and eventually settled on these. I commute one mile on foot to work, and these are excellent for that. They have a good grip and are waterproof. Have held up well over the years (replacing after four years of constant use - the insoles are worn through, scuffed, and have lost waterproofing. But after wearing them daily for years, I have no complaints!)

I don't know how many pairs of shoes in different brands (mostly Keens) I tried on before finding these wonderful shoes. I can't recommend them enough. They are true to size and comfortable right out of the box. Instead of instantly repacking a pair of shoes in frustration, I found myself not wanting to take these off even though I was home! I also wore them shopping right away and found my feet and joints happier than they've been in months. Thank you Zappos for letting me keep trying until I found them!

I dropped the rating for this shoe to 3 stars because both left and right shoes squeak consistently and loudly when I walk. I've worn them regularly since purchasing them 6 months ago and they still announcement my movements to the world! Will not buy another pair.

The comfort of the Merrell clog in a healed shoe. The heal is narrow, so you may need a shoe horn to get them on without squishing the leather down. There is a small elastic band on the inside to help open them up to get your foot in. The raised leather stitching gives the show a really cool texture. The footbed is the same as the clog, super comfortable! If you have chubby feet you might need a wide. My heal is narrow, so I love the shoe!

I love these shoes. I work in a professional office setting and wear these almost daily with black pants. They are professional enough to wear there, and comfortable enough that I can go for a good walk at lunch. I wear orthotics, and they fit well in the shoe. Great shoes...wish they came in navy as well!

I have now purchased my third pair of Merrell's Eclipse. As a bakers assistant, on my feet for 6-10 hours at a time, these shoes keep my feet happy.

Great shoes, super comfortable even on my feet all day, a little annoying to get on (not exactly slip-on), but feel very secure on, very happy with the style and color!

This is the best and most comfortable pair of multi-purpose everyday shoes that I have ever owned! I just purchased my second pair, thankfully after eight years they still make them. This new pair seems smaller and tighter, but I will have eight years to break them in. I put my own arch supports in them.

I do not know how I survived without these black shoes for so long. These are wonderful - dressy enough to wear with a nice pair of black pants, but comfortable enough for walking around all day. I had a pair of these in brown that I purchased a few years ago, and was pleased to see that the style still fit me. They are a little bit tight in the heel to put on - I need to stretch it a bit over my heel, but I expect that will get easier as I break them in. I would highly recommend these shoes!

Typical Merrel, comfortable right out of the box. It seems to have a good grip in the snow and ice so far and warm with a heavy sock. Not bad looking either for a winter shoe.

Love, love, love these shoes!! They seem to run a bit big, so I had to order 1/2 size down, but they are perfect!

These are now my favorite shoes to wear to work. Very comfortable, fit exactly right, and they look good!

My feet run wide, and this only came is B, but this shoe is pretty darned comfortable from right out of the box. It seems to be very well made and I think its very pretty.

Love this shoes. I bought them for a trip to Iceland, wanted something for walking around in that were comfortable, but not hiking boots. These completely fit the bill. Rugged enough for brief hikes over gravel and uneven surface, very warm, comfortable, sturdy. I can't say enough. They will also be awesome work shoes, as I am on my feet all day at work.

This shoe is just the right heel height and width to alleviate foot pain, allow long walks, and accept orthopedic inserts without becoming too tight. I ordered a half size larger from 9.5 to 10 to allow the insert and the metatarsal cookie. Works for me! Please ! Don't discontinue a good thing!

I work 10 to 12 hour shifts as a pharmacist and tried these shoes after several colleagues suggested them. After 5 minutes, I was convinced every penny of them is worth it. They are very comfortable on my heel and help support my arch. My plantar fasciitis and heel pain has already subsided dramatically. I intended on buying another pair to rotate with! They go well with casual work khakis, pants and jeans.

Fit perfectly. tends to run wide-ish. Got the brown a few years ago. Still wearing and looking good. Wanted a nice pair of black shoes. Tried other styles and this one was the most comfortable, by far.

I'm in the medical profession and I work in a hospital. I am ordering my second pair of Encore Eclipse 2. Great arch support, protection from "liquids" plus cushioning. I work some long shifts at times and see patients on seveal different floors, so I am on my feet most of my day. These feel much better and offer more protection than the athletic shoes I started out wearing. The ones I've been wearing for about 2 years have some wear on the sole on the outside of the heel. All my shoes wear in this same spot, but Merrells last the longest.

I just purchased my second pair of these shoes for work. My first pair has lasted 18 months (with insert replacement), and while I could make them live longer, I shouldn't. I wear these in a medical clinical setting, where I remain on my feet and am often squatting, kneeling, and getting dirty. These are a more comfortable alternative to the more popular (and more expensive) work clogs. Of note, I don't prefer a high arch, and the more popular work clogs always made my feet ache. While these are cushioned, they offer support similar to other Merrell shoes. I love these.

This is my second pair of Merrell Eclipse. I live in rainy Seattle and it's nice to have a pair of shoes that you can walk out and around in that are nice looking and comfortable. They are a snug fit to keep the water off your feet and to me are true to size 6.5 medium. I also can use my custom orthotics in them which is a bonus feature.

Love these! I have a pair that is seven years old that is still holding up. They are very comfortable, especially for a lot of walking without looking clunky.

These shoes are very stylish and comfortable. They are a little dressier than other Merrells so they can be worn with skirts.

I bought these shoes because I love Merrell shoes & I have purchased them in the past and they are really a great shoe that last. I saw that these were leather and the ones that I had in the past were suede. The only thing that I didn't like about this shoe is that it was really hard to put them on at first. You need a shoe horn to even get them on, but since I have been wearing them more and more it has become easier to put them on without a shoe horn. Just needed to stretch them out and now they fit like a glove. They do show scratches pretty easily, but that doesn't bother me. If you are concerned about that then this might not be a good pair of shoes for everyday wear. I Love them so much I am thinking about ordering the black ones as well! I bought these in brown at a local shoe store. They are my go-to shoe once the weather gets colder, socks have to come back on, and I have to say goodbye to sandals until the snow goes away. They have great support, amazing comfort, and I love the easy slip-on. I had hip replacement surgery a year ago, and I still find it easier to slip into shoes than to deal with contorting my leg the correct way to get them tied. The backs are a bit soft, so a shoehorn helps. I'm about to order them in black. I've finally decided there are times that my brown shoes just don't work with what I'm wearing. With these in both colors, I'll be set for the winter. I will say that my brown shoes are pretty scuffed after a year. I'm vowing to keep up with polish on the black ones.
