I have been looking for the perfect softshell jacket for over a year, and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait! I wanted the wind protection of a softshell, a hood, and a little more warmth. The problem is that not many softshells have hoods, and very few have much in the way of insulation; until I found this. The lined interior provides actual warmth, without being too much. The hood could only be made better by being detachable; but hey, you can't have everything you want in life, and it doesn't make a huge difference because the collar and hood lay so nicely anyways. The length is great, I love the drop down in the back, it's just long enough to be useful, without being too long so as to be annoying. I'm 5'4" 140 pounds and the medium fits perfectly. It is loose enough to layer over a fleece pullover, but fitting enough to not look bulky if I just wear it over a t-shirt. As far as style goes, it's obviously not meant to be a fashion statement, but it is still a good looking, hard working jacket. And of course, since it's Columbia the quality is fantastic. I wore it in our first fall "rain" yesterday (I live in the half-desert of southern California so it wasn't anything too heavy) while taking the dog for a walk and the rain collected in little droplets and brushed right off. I stayed warm and dry. I can't wait to wear this jacket while visiting my boyfriend in Germany and actually have a warm, comfortable, good looking jacket to wear while watching soccer games in the wind and rain. My only concern is that I'm either blind or stupid because the description claims there is an internal zippered pocket, but I haven't been able to find any such pocket in my jacket. It obviously doesn't take away from my praise for the jacket, but just keep that in mind if you are someone who really wants an internal pocket.

This jacket is so warm and cozy. The fuzzy lining goes through the sleeves and is also in the pockets. It's comfy everywhere. It's wind proof too, so I know I will be cozy no matter what the weather is doing. I'm so glad I found this jacket. Now I just have to wait for fall and winter to really enjoy it.

I read other reviews that said this jacket runs small. I saw one post with my similar height and weight (5'3" 137 lbs) say that she wish she ordered a large. I'm typically a small and since this was on sale and they were out of medium, I figured I'd just get the small and return it if needed. The small fits great! It's definitely more of a fitted style, so if you are looking for a big, roomie coat I would say order a size up. But if you don't mind your jackets a little more fitted, order your true size. Keeps me very warm and I love the hood! Most hoods fall down but this one has stayed up so far

I was looking for a non-bulky jacket that I could use for hiking. I have another longer winter coat, but it didn't seem very functional for hiking. This jacket was just the ticket! It's soft lining is cozy and the jacket moves well during activities. It is waterproof, with the fabric being durable and able to bead water easily. The jacket is warm enough to keep me cozy during chilly weather, but not too warm that I've overheating during activities. I usually wear a small for shirts and sweatshirts, but I got a medium because I wanted to be sure I'd have flexibility under my arms. I'm happy with this purchase!

This was a Valentines Day gift for my wife and she loved it! She is a huge fan of the black cherry color and I got her a beanie to match :) My wife typically wears a Small, but she has two other Columbia items that fit better in a Medium. I think the Small would have been better, but the Medium allows her to layer for colder days.

I sized up because is more form fitting. I don't have to later under it. Its not heavy, and it is very comfy. I'm 5'8" and got a large and the sleeves fit perfect.

This jacket is awesome! The quality is the best. Originally had brought back in 2014 unfortunately lost it in a fire last year but it had held up great over the years, love it so much I brought it again! Always looks like new. The warmth provided is perfect. Not too bulky but light enough. Would recommend 100%. Love it!

My long search of finding a soft shell jacket ended when I found this one. It is a beautiful and functional jacket. I am a petite 5' 3" , 117 lbs and the small is perfect. I would recommend to ordered size up, if you need more room for sweatshirts underneath. Plentiful pockets, but it would be nicer to have a zippered chest pocket to stash your essentials like a cellphone or train tickets. I would buy some more if Columbia offers other color like medium grey heather or white. Highly recommend.

Good quality jacket for the price. I got this in black cherry, which is nice. I want to buy in other colors! Runs a little small. I'm 115 lbs and usually wear an XS but sized up to a small.

I love this jacket! It has a fur lining throughout the body AND sleeves. I have long arms and the sleeves are long enough for me. There are two large pockets on the inside that are perfect for storing winter accessories when not in use. I am 5'9" 140 lbs and generally wear a sz6/M but I ordered a L based on other reviews. The large fits well and gave me some extra room to layer while still looking slim. Great jacket!

As someone who only needs a warm jacket occasionally, I love the quality and wear of this jacket. The jacket is a snug fit with a sweatshirt underneath. I went off the measurements on web-site. I would recommend going up 1 size for a loose fit. Otherwise, works for cold rainy weather.

I love that this jacket is lined throughout the inside, even down the sleeves and inside the hood. This makes it very warm, even when wearing short sleeves underneath. It does run small, especially through the shoulders. I ordered up a size and it is still snug.

I was looking for a comfortable jacket to wear in the winter and when it rains. I had a lighter jacket but no hood and my regular winter jacket is too bulky. This jacket is great and I don't feel constricted. Runs a little small according to other reviews so I went up a size in case I was layering and I'm glad I did

I've been eyeing this coat since last year and finally took the plunge and purchased it. It's comfortable, functional and I love the color and how warm it is. I do think it runs a tad smaller than I would like for a coat but it still fits good.

Based on previous reviews, I ordered up a size. I normally wear sm/medium jackets depending on the cut but I wanted to be able to layer with sweaters so ordered a large. The jacket has wonderful construction and feel. Good pocket placement and sturdy zipper. I am 5' tall , 120 lbs and although the sleeves were a bit long on me, the tab at the end makes it adjustable so you can tighten it at the wrist. Nice and warm for crisp fall weather. Overall I am very pleased with this product.

This purchase was for my daughter in law for her birthday. My daughter and I both have this jacket and absolutely love it. It is lightweight, very comfortable and warm.

This jacket is very warm and water resistant. I sometimes use it as a rain jacket. It is good for any weather.

Great jacket! Exactly what I was looking for! I'm 5'5" and weight: 125 pounds.

I'm 5' 0" and 85 pounds, so usually Womens XS is slightly too big for me, but this jacket fits perfect!!! It definitely runs smaller than their normal sizing, which worked out well in my case. The cut of the jacket is very flattering. Fleece-lined inside makes it very warm and cozy, while the softshell outside protects from wind and rain. I've been wearing this most winter days as it is perfect for short walks outside and to/from the car on cold Indiana winter days. I'll probably wear it most of fall and winter, too! My only complaints is the zipper pulls on the pockets feel kind of cheap compared to my previous Orvis jacket I replaced, but everything else is great!

I got this jacket in black. It looks very professional and it is warm. I have worn it out in 20 degree weather with wind and this kept me warm. It does run very small. I normally wear an XS in Columbia clothes but I ordered a small for this and it is still very form fitting. A medium would have been better.
