This jacket is perfect for our weather. We live in New Mexico where climate is rarely in the teens but not unusual to be below freezing. We wear our Guides Down jackets often in our cold season. If weather warms up enough we unzip them and are still comfortable. I bought one and my wife liked it so much I bought one for her!

My son can't wait to grow into this. Marmot quality and warmth. Can't be beat! Please bring back this gender neutral color scheme or similar in the Youth Guides Down Hoody.

Just a really warm down coat that goes a long ways for this price. I bike to class in Wisconsin all winter, and I'll throw this jacket on over a short sleeve shirt and my core is nice and protected during the many -10 degree mornings. Can't ask for much more than that. The hoodie is nicely insulated too. The zippers are nice, though I have had a few instances of one pocket zipper catching on the fabric. There is a single inconvenience with this jacket for me... when it is unzipped, the interior breast pocket zipper rubs my nipple. Super weird thing to happen which could easily be solved by having a little flap of fabric that keeps the zipper from protruding from the pocket and shelter my chest :0 Don't let that stop you though, this coat is legit.

I see a lot of bad reviews for this jacket and it's not fair. I had this jacket for 4 years, wore it every winter.. even at work at the gas station. It was my first Marmot product and wore it in NYC blizzards and I was really surprised how warm and comfortable it was. If you are a sloppy person, you're gonna destroy it because this wasn't made to resist sloppiness.

Really nice, and warm. I size between and medium and large and went for the large to allow for multiple layers unders. Good fit. I put it in the dryer for 20mn with a couple of tennis balls after it arrived to fluff it up. Did the trick.

exactly what I was looking for, super light but warm and fluffy, big size of pockets, front chest outer pocket for my cellphone, I can reach in and out for the phone without unzip the center zipper, I saw people complained about the fabric is too thin and not durable, I think this fabric is perfect because its light and fluffy, if you want the heavy-duty jacket, you need to pay more and accept the heavier weight, which I prefer this super lightweight and I am not doing any heavy-duty work outdoor with it.

I bought this coat a year ago and used it for a long Chicago winter. It is light with four nice deep pockets and draw-cords at the hood and waist. This coat will keep me warm on the Chicago lake-front in the dead of winter with just a long-sleeve t-shirt underneath. When temperatures are below ten Fahrenheit I use a Marmot Wrangell Polartec fleece underneath. with this combo of a base layer, fleece, and Marmot Guides Hoody I can withstand temperatures down to twenty below. To top it off, the Guides Hoody is super affordable. Can't recommend it enough!

Super light, nice colors combination, XL size for myself is what fitted - however I regularly go for L, so I had to change/ ship back and forth. Shame there's no casual compression Marmot sack for the down jacket - this is what they usually provided. Price worked nicely after all the price reduction and the discounts.

My older coat of the same model was worn out and had construction paint / other materials blemishing its surface so I went for a new one to wear around town. Overall warm as described, and weighs the exact same as the same model coat I purchased 4 years ago. I love the fit, length, and bulk of this coat. My one star deduction comes from the sleeve openings around the wrist. For some reason, my new coat has sharp edges around the area where the velcro meets. It pushes up past the remaining coat material and I'm constantly feeling it dig into my wrists. I'm hoping it disappears with wear and washing, but it is not comfortable for now.

Seems to fit appropriately. Have not had the opportunity to wear it in cold weather. Hood seems to be exceptionally large.

My sons and wife all wear the kids version. Those are 5 stars. This one in mens L seems to have less down in it than the kids'. Other difference is this one has thin Velcro wrist straps, and the kids has elastic wrist with down all the way up to the cuff. It seems like really, there should be more down in the adult one than there is.

I just want to preface this by saying I love Marmot as a company. I own the Marmont guides down jacket model from 2008. This jacket from 2008 is so packed with down that I looked like the Michelin man, I'm telling you it was so ridiculously packed with down it was almost comical, and was the warmest coat I've ever owned and I survived the winter of 2008 in Jackson hole Wyoming with this coat alone. I have recently purchased the 2021 version of this coat and it is literally a shadow of its former self. I understand that down is an expensive product, I understand that there might be ethics issues with harvesting the down, and I understand the need for profit versus the need to make a supremely high-quality product. But man this jacket is now no more than a mid layer, when it used to be suitable for arctic Blizards. But hey I still love marmot, I just wanted to let everyone know.

This could be a great jacket, but... it needs more down, partacilary the sleeves. This is a common theme on current down jackets, i tested 5 of them. This one was nice, but not warm in the arms. Buyer remorse. btw; i think down jackets should be rated by loft and weight - just like sleeping bags. i'm 170lbs, purchased a large. On the positive side; it fit well, the draw-string at the bottom did not interfer with the zipper, the zipper is the beefy durable type. The hood was warm, fit well. NIce... execpt it needs more down.
