Based on previous reviewers commenting on size, I went with a larger size than normal. At 5' 10" tall and 150lbs I purchased a large. It is perfect for fitting sweaters underneath and not too large that I am swimming with just a t-shirt. This coat is WARM. I wore it outside with just a t-shirt underneath and I was very comfortable in 30-degree weather. I have only owned and worn the coat for about a week, but if it holds up through a few winters it is worth the investment. Time will tell if that price tag is worth it.

Hands down, the best winter coat I've ever owned. I bought this coat in Black 3 years ago and am still wearing it. Bought it this year on sale in the steel onyx color (more of a blue gray). I live in Chicago and need something legitimately warm for walking around town all winter and this coat is amazing. Feels extremely light but is deceivingly warm with the 700 down fill. Much warmer than many other more expensive brands. Fuzzy fleece lining at shoulders provides added warmth and at cuffs keeps out wind. Fleece lined pockets are also so warm and can get by without gloves in many temps by just using pockets. I am 5'2" and 120 pounds with slightly broader shoulders and the small fits me perfect. Not too long or short. Love this coat and wish Marmot would make it in more colors.

I wanted a coat that would be warm enough for our winters in Minnesota and I believe I found one. This coat is toasty warm and so soft inside. I especially like how it zips up to my chin and keeps the wind out. No scarf necessary. The hood fits well and provides extra warmth for the coldest days. It is a well designed coat and I hope it lasts forever.

Love this coat already! Fit great, although I did follow others advice and size up to avoid tightness across the chest. The coat is light weight, but kept me perfectly warm as I watched a sporting event in low 30 degree weather. Hoping it keeps me as warm as the temps continue to drop!

This coat is very warm. I live in the Midwest where we get wind chills in the negatives for long stretches and this coat has kept me warm. The fleece lining is a plus and cozy. I am a medium but read reviews which said I should size up so that I could have room for sweatshirts or sweaters but after getting both sizes I went with a medium. The large was too long in the sleeves and bulkier in the arms. With that said, I think this coat runs true to size. The hood is very warm too and stays in place. I like that I can remove the fur too. I own Patagonia coats and I think this marmot one is my new favorite. As always, Zappos offered excellent customer service and even price matched this jacket when I found it in another site for a cheaper price. I ?? Zappos!

This is an amazing jacket! Prior to purchasing this jacket, I researched the best winter coat for days. Not only does this jacket not disappoint, but it has kept me warm in temperatures down to the teens with only a long sleeve tshirt under the jacket. It's more fitted than my previous winter coat, which I appreciate. However, it does run a full size small. Based on the size charts I originally ordered a small, but the jacket sleeves were too short and it was tight across my shoulders. I exchanged it for a medium, which is the perfect fit! I would like the sleeves to be a tad longer, but that's personal preference (I have long arms). For reference I'm 5'10" and 135 lbs.

Christmas gift for my girlfriend who's always cold. She tried a few jackets, and this was her favorite. It's a nice warm down fill, without being too heavy, that retains a silhouette. Nice blend of function and fashion and is suitable to wear out on the trail, or out to dinner. Size medium fit well / as expected. Can't recall any complaints.

I bought this coat for a December trip to Canada. I love it! It kept me warm and the coat style is fitted so it didn't feel bulky. I wear a size 8 and I bought a medium which is perfect for me, however, if you're bigger than a B cup, you may want to go a size larger. The color is actually a light gray, not the ivory color in the picture.

love this coat, but like so many women's down jackets, it is way too tight in the chest! I am flat-chested, and usually take a size small in most clothing, yet a medium Marmot is too small! going back.

Amazing jacket, perfect for Chicago's winters. I am 130lbs and 5'7 and M fits great. It is warm and does not get dirty easy. Perfect fit and color. Great quality too. I highly recommend it.

I love this Marmot jacket. I am perpetually cold, but this coat keeps me warm from my head to mid-thigh in the snowy Connecticut winter. It is super stylish, and the inside is a nice cozy fleecy material that is soft and warm, but not hot. The same material keeps your hands warm in the pockets. Do not hesitate to buy this jacket!

By far my favorite winter jacket I have ever owned. It's been around 7 degrees and -10 with windchill lately and I haven't felt the chill at all. It blocks wind perfectly, the pockets are nicely lined so they are warm and cozy. The sleeves are fitted enough to where the wind does not go up them, and so is the bottom of the coat (keeps my bum nice and toasty). The hood is really comfortable too, some other ones (my North Face and Patagonia jackets) let wind get through when the hood is up and makes my head cold, but this one keeps it out! Love it!

I loved this coat. It kept me very warm in 5° weather. The lining in the upper half and sleeves is great and the pockets (also with lining) are at perfect height for my hands. Yes, it is on the expensive end. But well worth the cost in my opinion.

This is my dream coat. HG usually buy small or medium chose the medium happy with fit it allows plenty of room for layers also definitely mid-thigh on my 5'6" body which is a plus arms a bit long but I like that as well the DWR finish has performed very well as stated have worn in rain and snow. The only difference that I found between the description and my coat is my tag says "minimum 85% duck down" instead of goose down mentioned above. Thanks, Zappos, for 24 hours from purchase to doorstep. Kudos to Marmot for inspiring my first online review.

Great coat! I travel to the east coast and this will keep me warm without a lot of bulk. Best coat EVER. However, I got it for less at Dick's, so back it goes. I'm 138lbs and 5'6, normally a small works, but this coat runs small, went with medium.

I really like this coat! I ordered this one and also the miss metro from North Face and ended up keeping this one. It was a heavier weight but not too much that I feel weighted down. I ordered an XL, I am 6' tall and about 160 with broad shoulders and long arms. I was afraid it would be too short but both the length and sleeves are perfect! I live in Michigan an it gets very cold (polar vortex) and this jacket is awesome for warmth. The hood is also great as it actually stays on and protects my face in the wind. The fleece lining is cozy and warm also so when you first put the coat on its not cold against your skin. I would definitely buy this coat again! And Zappos is my favorite! Next day shipping is the best ever.

This is a great commuter coat! I work in a college campus, lots of walking between buildings in all weather. Last week it was 15F with a wind chill of -10, and I had to wak about 8 blocks. With the hood up and my hands in the pockets, I was toasty warm! It's also lightweight and flattering, which are added bonuses to being warm. The medium fits my 5'7", 135lb athletic frame perfectly with room enough for wooley sweaters. This coat is worth every penny. Only four stars on style because the color choices weren't the best, but I can cope because of the quality.

I recently ordered several similar coats and the Marmot Montreal beat them all hands down. The quality is evident the moment you zip up the coat--like butter! The sleeve has a fleece cuff which is great for extra wind protection and warmth. It is filled with 700 down and is super thick and warm. It is a little on the bulky side compared to the North Face parkas, but it is worth looking like the Michelin Man for the warmth and quality. I am a shirt size XL but and ordered both the XL and XXL and ended up going with the bigger size for layering purposes.
