I bought a pair of Columbia ski pants a couple years ago and they've worked well; when I wanted another pair of pants I started here.
I'm not big on bright colors so when I saw the Tradewinds Grey in sort of a cloud patern I checked them out (the actual color has a slight light blue tinge to the grey that's shown). They also came in a 'Short' which I need to prevent the cuffs from dragging when I'm not wearing ski boots.
The pants have worked well for me and have been warm, the 'foil' type interior does require you to generate some heat so if you just walked outside and stood there they may not be the best choice (you might notice this on 'first chair'). I however have been warm and appreciate that they're not bulky. I've never felt any moisture or wetness even in snowy conditions.
The cargo pants style is useful for carrying stuff, but I could probably do without the hip pockets. The thigh zippers are useful for hot days, but do add to a generally busy look. Another minor nit is that the rear belt loops are on the side and center so cross type suspenders pull oddly (I've solved this by making them center pull).
What has surprised me is how many complements I've received on these pants from both friends and strangers. I now feel the need to buy a less bulky parka to complement the look. To be honest I'm not generally too stylish so this is something new for me.
All in all I like these pants very much and would buy them again, they serve my needs well and stand out from the crowd. Well done Columbia.

As with all Columbia products the product is excellent with the only exception, it does not have gator hooks on the pants.

These are very warm. All I ever needed on the slopes was a thin base layer and these pants and I was never cold.

I recently purchased a pair and went snowboarding once, then I used them to shovel snow. I use a belt to keep them secure. When I removed my belt the front left belt loop ripped off the top. I love the pants, there awesome! Just wasn't expecting that to happen my second time using them.

My biggest concern while buying pants had always been the length, my size is 32 waist and 30 length; for a short guy like me it's always a challenge to find gear that fit. Columbia offers these pants with short length too and they sit perfect on me. I bought size S/SHORT. Overall the pants are of excellent quality and although there is no padding I found them warm enough while wearing base layer. They are waterproof too that is a desirable feature when skiing in snowfall.
For this price you won't find any better, I looked.

Have only worn one weekend so far. Very comfortable both in the cold teen degree morning and the low 40s afternoon.
I wear 34+ (depends on the slacks :-) with 32 inseam. These are a bit long and come lower on my ski boots than others. Large fits my waist comfortably. The powder cuffs are very tight, which helps protect the batteries for my boot warmers from getting lost. The cargo packets are too well designed to keep snow out, with an extra fold for protection. That also makes getting things in and out a bit difficult. Real test will be tomorrow when skiing temps will be below zero to start.
Had difficulty with the "Fit" indicator at top of review. Pants are very slightly small at waist (or I am slightly big) but also long or large in the leg. So I left it at true but with reservations

Very satisfied with the pants.extra pockets on the legs for my gloves. And the leg vents were convenient for regulating heat

My 13 year old son has only worn these once for skiing (around 30 degree weather) and a few times to shovel or play in snow (closer to between negative to teens in temperature). He likes how lightweight they are and seems to be fine with the warmth. We will see how they rate when he actually skis in the 20s or below. However, the sizing runs small. I ordered a small based on the chart. He has just moved into 3o waist/34 length pants and the small was tight in the hips and short. He has a slim, but muscular frame. He is now wearing the medium which gives him plenty of room in the seat and can be adjusted to fit well in the waist. He is happy with the pants.

These are nice snow pants but I'd say that they do run small. If you wear a large I'd say get a extra large. The pants have velcro on the sides of the waist area to tighten and loosen.

I took these skiing in Park City, Utah and they were fine when it was 30 degrees and not windy. In fact I wouldn't want anything warmer around 30 degrees. I'm a pretty aggressive skier so if you do backcountry stuff (meaning deep powder/unkept stuff) or steeper runs with moguls where you exert a lot of energy these will be great as you won't overheat. Also love the orange color and the plethora of pockets!
However, when it was below 30 these did not keep me warm even with a heavy weight base layer. The wind also cuts right through them, which made it extra cold when skiing downhill and the lifts. When its colder/windier I would opt for an insulated pant, which these are not.
So overall: good value, probably great for Lake Tahoe, but not for Vermont where it is notoriously cold and windy from my experience.

I wore these out to shovel the walk and the wind ripped right through them. I have an older pair of snow pants with just plain old insulation and they are much warmer than these.

I'm 5'9" with a muscular thighs. Large, short is the correct fit for me. Waist is big (belt?) but at least I can move my hips. I could not move in a medium. Not suitable for Nordic because of bell bottom shape. Zippers and pockets great for venting. Needs Velcro to tighten at boots and more adjustment at waist. Temps 6, and 14F w wind (cold), base layer, fleece pants, and these were comfortable and flexible.

I'm 5'4, ~138lbs (30 waist) and the small/short was still too big for me at the waist (even after adjusting the velcro). Please make XS sizes available for your snow pants (I see the size in the 'size & fit' help section).
I may have to go with Kids sizing, but I feel they will be much too small.

The product is good. However I'm 6 ft and ordered a M regular. The waist and leg length look like a XL or at least 36/34 in other brand. Please carefully compare the sizing before buying.

I have only tried these pants on and not worn them in the snow so can not comment on their abilities to keep you dry or warm. I will say that they should reconsider the use of the large zippers on these pants. Every pocket has large zippers even the ones on the butt. The way the pants fit me the zippers seems to be in a very uncomfortable spot with in the zippers in the open and closed positions. Seems like some Velcro would have been better in butt area. Sitting in a chair was uncomfortable so I can only imagine falling a few times in these and how uncomfortable they would become

We live in bush Alaska so my husband needed waterproof snowpants. They are not waterproof. He came in soaked through to the skin. They run a little small. It's too bad they aren't waterproof like they are supposed to be. Back to the drawing board.

I would love to write how much I love these pants (I bought because two of my co-workers love'm) but the pair I got are HUGE. I'm 6'0", 180 lbs. 33" waist and inseam and the Large Reg were clownishly big on me. Very disappointed by lack of sizing guidelines. Need to return and buy Medium.

Size chart says 40-43 waist with a relaxed style fit however I wear a 38 blue jean and these just fit. Fit is tight in the rear end and I won't be able to wear anything but a single layer under them. Haven't fully decided to keep them yet.
Will try to follow up review after first use.

These pants seem short wasted (not enough room in crotch). The first day of use was wet snow that melted when it landed on you. After only one ride up the chair lift, my seat was wet. I seemed to be dry everywhere else.

I have purchased Columbia pants in the past that have fit well. Unfortunately, these were larger in the waist and baggier in the legs than expected, yet they were also shorter than others I have purchased. Also, the material is noisy...reminded me of a child's snowsuit.

This style was too baggy throughout the leg, especially the lower half. The leg gaiter was overly tight. The Velcro waist adjuster was weak in design, needs improvement and better quality. Both my son and I would need a belt to wear. I ski and my 13 yr old son snowboards.
