After getting back into snowboarding after 15 years away I was in the market for some pants to keep we warm and dry without costing an arm and a leg. My first time out was a little rocky to say the least. I got most of my chops back after a few hours. They kept my perfectly comfortable and dry on that first day. They have been holding up great all season.

My husband was using the same snow pants from high school and despite being ratty and a size too large (they thought he was still growing), he refused to get new ones. Why? Highlighter green is really hard to find! So thankful that I not only found the color he wanted, but that they were a great fit and quality! Most of my gear is Columbia, and I love their products because they are super warm without being bulky.

I'm a big fan of the omni-heat technology that Columbia offers, and bought two pairs of the Ridge to Run II pants online for a ski trip, (size large, with regular inseam) one being black and the other red element. I was very pleased with the length of the pants (I'm 6'2"). However, the red element version was significantly larger in the waist by at least 3-4 inches. Both pairs of pants had the same "large" tag label. I ordered another pair of the red element pants, and the second pair fit much closer, although still approximately 1 inch bigger in the waist compared to the black pants. Luckily, there is a velcro strap on either side of the pants that can be adjusted to provide a slightly more snug fit, but the straps would not be able to compensate for much more than 1 inch of extra space.
The pants provide great warmth for the outdoors in fairly cold weather (approximately 30 degrees). They are definitely waterproof, as my base layer remained dry despite several terrific falls on the ski slopes. The color of the red element pants is also quite eye catching and helped my fiancee easily identify me as I was tumbling (and occasionally skiing) down the slopes.
I believe the black pair fit true to form (in the waist and inseam), but if you are interested in a different color then you should probably try them on in the store to know exactly how large the waist will be, as the two pairs of the red element pants that I tried were very different in the actual waist size.

These are useful as long as you wear a heavyweight base layer. They do breathe reducing sweat. The pockets are nice and the built in snow gaiter works well.

Bought these pants for my brother. The regular inseam pant in medium fit well for the waist but my brother is 6'1 so the length of the pants are a little short. Besides that, he said they kept him warm all day skiing.

Overall the construction seems to be sound. As I like to wear these over wool pants I wanted to ensure they would fit so went with and XL. I'm normally a size 34X32 but with pants and belt closer to a 36 waist. The Ridge II to Run pant allowed for plenty of room in the waist, maybe a bit much, I likely would have been ok with a size Large. The ski pants do run a bit long which is ok when you have your boots and skis on but have a tendency to drag on the ground when just in snow boots. They did a great job at keeping me dry which kept me warm on a snow/rainy ski day last week. Will have to see how they hold up over time. I have high hopes.

loved this pants. Air moves freely, it keeps you warm, but you won't overheat in them.

These pants are great for any average user. For this particular use, I needed pants that were insulated and offered more than just windproof/waterproof. The fit ran rather large as I wear a size 30/30 pant, these were long and loose around the waist, luckily I had to wear other pants and undergarments to keep warm which helped these pants fit. All in all, I loved the design and the functionality but I found out quickly that I needed insulated pants not just waterproof.

Great-looking pants, well thought-out, lots of nice features. I don't think they are insulated though, so if you tend to run a little on the colder side you may have to layer or consider something else. My frustration stems from the sizes . . . the medium waist is pretty big on me even with the velcro cinches (I'm about a 30/31 pant size) but the small is way too snug in the seat and tights. That's pretty much my only beef with 'em!

I'm not the smallest guy in the world, but even the medium was far too big in the waist. Would consider sizing down. I ordered the short inseam, and it seemed appropriate. Really cool-looking, well thought out with the details.

Quality is solid. Definitely keeps you warm in cold conditions, but vents also work well when it gets warm out. I like the sewn-in boot guards on the lower leg, to protect against wear/tear (for those that will use these for skiing).

Recently went snowboarding and these pants were great. I was warm the whole time and really loved the inside material. I had zero issues with any moisture getting in. Overall they definitely are better than my previous pants.
For me, they ran a little large. Definitely check the sizing chart. I was surprised what waist size was considered XL and XXL. The only knock I have on the pants at all is they aren't as red as I thought they would be. They're way too orange for my liking!

After reading other's comments about sizing on this product I decided to order the larger size because people said that they needed a larger size and they ran small. Well I guess those people are in denial about thier waist size, because I ordered the extra large for my waist 36. It was massive and I was floating in it even with the pull tabs pulled as tight as possible and a pair of cArgo shorts under it. Good quality pants, but I need to return and get a size large which I should have done in the first place since those are for waist 36. Go with Columbia's sizing chart and you should be fine.

Kept me warm skiing in Montana in some very cold temperatures. I like the pockets and functionality of these pants as well.

I bought them because I want the "short" inseem size. I was looking at ski pants twice as expensive but took a chance because of that option. They fit good. The keep me warm I wore them when it was zero out. I added a mid weight long underwear and was perfect. I like the scuff shield on the inside of the ankles. More importantly on the back pant leg. Best of all was the price! Only negative- the pocket stitching came undone. I had to sew it back up myself

The material around the torso/crotch is very rigid, so it doesn't allow much stretch/room for the goods. I ordered a medium (34) regular, and I would consider myself a 33, and this still seemed a little too snug. However, with that in mind, I wore them in the Rockies and they held up great. After a while I forgot about the rigidness. Hopefully they just need to get broken into a little more, but my suggestion to Columbia: make them more flexible for such an active sport! Also, if you get cold easily, these pants are only so warm. May need to wear thermals/etc. to compensate.

My only comment is that when compared to my LL Bean Carrabasset ski pants, the flare on these is very wide. I like a narrower look, but that's the only criticism. Good quality in the Columbia product.

Warm, haven't worn them on my bicycle yet. Enjoy the fit. The mediums are correct for my waist. They come "short", and that worked. Tried large at a store and they were loose and long. Sizing is tricky if you haven't tried them on.

The pants seem to be pretty nice in terms of functionality. Reflective material makes them not heavy or bulky, and good if layers are needed. I'm a 32x30 and the Medium/Short fit well in the waist, but just slightly long in the leg.
My only real complaint would be with the pant leg opening. The bottom of the pant leg has 2 parts: The inner leg is presumably designed to be snug against the ankle (to keep snow out), with the exterior being wider to go over boots. The problem is that the inner portion is too loose. The unstreached elastic (to be snug around your ankle) measures 17 inches. My ankle measures 9 1/2 inches! What medium sized, short person has a 17 inch ankle? Can still be tucked into a boot, but certainly not how I would have designed them.

I bought these pants for my husband. We moved to Chicago and quickly realized we were not equine for this brutal cold winters. These pants were used as outdoor pants anytime we had to be more than 20 minutes outside.... Usually when we are walking out dog. He loves it and the fit is great. Unfortunately I didn't give it a 5 because the black was out of stock. He still loved the color he got and it has been very useful during these subzero temperatures!
