As with most things I've gotten from Keen, these are comfortable and fit pretty well right out of the box. I'll probably size down half a size next time. Also, the little plastic clip that holds the elastic "laces" in place broke pretty quickly on one of them, but that's a minor gripe. I really liked the colors.

Love this sandal. I wanted something light for casual wear, rather than hiking. This is the model. Fits well, built well, comfortable and durable. Well done, Keen. I bought 2 pairs to replace older ones.

This is my second pair of these sandals. The first pair lasted a long time, and obviously I liked them well enough to replace with the same thing. Both times the fit was snug when they first went on (I got 9 1/2 and I usually wear either 9 1/2 or 10), and after a few wearings they stretched just the right amount for a really good fit. I like my feet to not slide around in the sandals for active use on a variety of terrain such as slopes or rocky river bottoms.
The only issue is that the old ones were blue and currently they are only offered in black. I would have liked a color choice. But aside from that they are fine footwear, and should last a good while.

Bought a pair of these in Portland in 2017. 6 years later and theyre still my go to sandal. Super versatile and stylish with the low profile sole. Lightweight yet substantial. The toe protection has saved me from plenty of rocks. I just did a mini mtb, hike, and swim in the Austin area and the rubber soles even survived the pins on my pedals. A slightly grippier tread would be nice but I have other footwear for more climbing-focused trips. These are perfect for kayaking, hiking with water crossings, the beach, or even the grocery store. Its in my travel bag for most vacations as a slip on or for the next adventure. Thanks Keen for not making the Clearwater so bulky yet so durable.

I have the Keen Newport sandals and I like them but Ive always hated how goofy wide they were in the toe box. The Newports look clownish, quite honestly, but I like the style and quality of Keen. Enter the Clearwater CNX. These are a smaller, lower profile sandal so it doesnt look like Im wearing clown shoes. That's good.
FIT: As many other reviewers have already pointed out, these run small. Knowing this, I purposely ordered a half size larger and they fit perfectly. They actually fit a little better than my Newports that are a half size smaller. So yeah, size up.
QUALITY: Overall quality is on par with Keen. The webbing is robust and the rubber sole is rugged, not soft, so I anticipate tread wear to be slow. I also like that they still include the wavy razor cuts in the sole like boat shoes have for traction on wet, slippery surfaces. This is a feature that is often overlooked by many other companies and, as subtle as it may be, it sets Keens apart from the rest. The only thing I can point out that I dont like (and this is probably just me being really nitpicky) is the thickness of the elastic draw cord. It seems a bit thinner than the one on my Newports. Hopefully they last with daily pulling on them to tighten. Other than that, I have no other gripes regarding quality.
DESIGN: Comparing these to the Newports, the sole is not as thick and not nearly as wide. This is exactly what I was looking for. One peculiar aspect of the design is the rounded soles. Theyre not flat at all so ankle support could suffer a bit. It would be rather easy to lose your balance or roll an ankle just walking in these. Im sure Ill adjust and adapt but it puzzles me why they went with this design at all. I love the Raven/Tortoise color and the quality of the webbing. The insoles are also comfortable and absorb shock. They're Keens!

I generally enjoy Keen sandals. I currently own four pair. One pair has lasted 6 or 8 years and still going. This pair has been rafting down the Grand Canyon, on a two week trip to the Galapagos and on several hiking adventures.
The pair this review covers is the Men's Clearwater CNX. These were to replace another oldest pair of Clearwater's. I ordered the same size as my other Keen sandals. I bought these in November when I noticed the color I wanted was available. This pair was purchased for some spring adventures. When they arrived, I put them on and noticed they were uncomfortable through the footbed area. I thought they just needed to "settle in". I didn't wear them over the winter until recent weeks. I am hoping they will give a little to accommodate my foot shape. My other Keen sandals did not need a wear in period, but the materials are not designed to give/stretch.
The recent sandals do not use Vibram soles like my older ones. I am not sure if, or how, that change might affect the comfort. These are not the same level of comfort as my previous pair.

Have owned five pairs of these sandals. In the past theyve always been the most comfortable shoes. Ordered a new pair put them on and theres no arches in the shoes any longer. Called keen to discuss the issue and they indicated that they change manufacturing facilities and havent gotten back to the quality they used to have. what was always so great about Keens was they had the perfect arch. Now theres no arch and the shoes are horribly uncomfortable. Hope the correct this otherwise well have to find a new brand.

I appreciate the CNX sandal because they are lighter than other Keen sandals. Unfortunately I had to return this pair since they were too small. These sandals were made in the Caribbean. I have noticed when they are manufactured there (as well as Mexico) they tend to be smaller. All sandals I have bought that were made in Asia fit very well. I have learned from speaking with Keen that when ordering sandals you never know where they are made. Hopefully, in the future, I will be able to buy CNX sandals made in Asia.

I love Keens and did end up buying a different style, Whisper, which was true to size. The Clearwater was way too big in the same size as the Whisper.

I ordered these in the slate blue color & almost, almost loved them — but they run about half a size shorter than other Keen sandals, and Zappos (as well as everyone else!) was sold out a half-size up.
I have narrower feet (AA/A in a previous lifetime; on the A/B border after having two kids) and an average instep, and the CNX Keens fit well otherwise — better than their regular sandals. [My kid, otoh, has narrow feet with a high instep, & *can’t* wear the CNX line.] I ended up buying a pair of Keen “Whisper” sandals instead, which are a little wider than I need but which fit in the size I’d ordered.

This is a great summer light-weight shoe. Many of the other Keen sandals in a Mens size 11 are too heavy. But what these desperately need is the adjustable Velcro strap to go around the heel. It seems my ever growing son needed the size 12 instead of size 11 but I just ordered the Keen that has the adjustable heel strap. It's hard to put your foot into a wet shoe but summer often calls for that. It will be much easier with the Velcro strap.

I have wide feet but have bought D width water sandals before that fit. Since no size is the same from shoe to shoe you have to buy to try and they might not fit.

After finding they didn't fit like all my other Keens I chatted and learned this sandal runs narrow. They were far tighter than old Newports.

I want to own these shoes, but they run about a size too small and my foot is hanging off of the back. The color is nice and they will work for fishing in streams, etc, just have to wait for the right size to come available.

Light weight version of other keen sandals. My previous pair were the newports. Thus far I really like these sandals. They are comfortable and feel more nimble than the bulkier sandals. Only knock is that they are barely wide enough for my feet and they run 1/2 to full size small. I would recommend if you are looking for a lighter alternative to the standard keen sandal.

I am a female with a wide toe box. Men's shoes fit better. I'm very happy with the fit. I like the adjustable slide on the top. I would have liked it in pink. LOL I am looking forward to wearing it on some rough terrain.

I have several pairs of Keen shoes and sandals, always using the same size. This style seems to run a bit large, so I will be returning it to try a 1/2 size smaller.
The lighter weight compared to the Newport seems to be a plus, and the soles of my previous Keens have never left a mark on boat decks. The pair that this is replacing has been used heavily for 3 years.

Unfortunately it's still not sandal weather and I've only had the opportunity to wear these once. My initial impression is that they look great and are very comfortable -- except for an irritating heel rub on both sandals. I'd give these 5 stars all the way if I knew the heel issue would cease after they've been broken-in. I'll be sure to update my review when I know for certain.

I compared this sandal with the Teva Onminum and the Ahnu Del Rey. Interesting choices. This sandal had the thinnest sole which was a plus and a minus. You are more connected with the ground when you walk, but there is less support. It is very comfortable and easily adjustable with a center strap. I went with the Ahnu because it had bit thicker sole, but it was a close call. Would have liked both but only need one. This one was the best looking, easiest to get on an off and lightest.

Satisfied with the fit and quality of these shoes. I've already been able to run with them on the beach in the OBX. Good in the water, and they dry quickly. Fit is good. My feet are 10.5 and 11, and the size 11 fits well. There is limited ability to make snug with the cinch at the top. Color is lighter than it looks - not true navy. As always Zappos order was simple and shipping quick and free.

I am very satisfied with my Keen Clearwater sandals. They are comfortable and stylish enough to wear for a good part of the day. I also do a lot of kayaking and was looking for something non-leather and not to bulky for getting in and out of my kayaks. They work well even in my low volume kayaks.
