I bought these during one of the rainiest, muddiest springs we've had in Wyoming and have put them through flats, hills and rocks and they are solid, technical shoes for trail. running. Have enough of a heel drop for me and rival some of my "cushier" shoes on longer runs. The fit is about a half size smaller than your usual US size, and although the fit felt different and snug, it was simply that it provides support and fits well on my arch, heel and instep. I have a medium to narrow foot and an extra navicular bone on each foot. Toe and rock guard is great against cactus and other gnarly ground stuff!

The shoe fits perfectly and was comfortable right out of the box. I wear it daily and it performs exactly as described.

I do a lot of walking on concrete floors while delivering loads. I am always searching for comfortable shoes. These shoes were comfortable right out of the box. I love the arch support and the fact that my feet & legs were not fatigued at the end of my 12+ hr days. I am new to this brand and ordered 2 different styles without ever trying them on prior - fit was great. This will not be my last purchase.

These trail runners are everything I am looking for. Rugged for rough terrain, grips well on wet rocks and mud, cushions for rocks and roots, great lateral and arch support. I used them for trail running and light hiking. If you like a soft, flexible trail runner, these aren't for you. I work in an outdoor shop at the entrance to a national forest and have had many happy customers who are using them as a light hiker and approach shoe as well as rugged trail runners. I found I need a half size larger than some of my other la sportivas. I have spurs on my heals and these fit well, toe box is roomy without being too big. I do have issues with lacing as others have mentioned, the tongue slides and sometimes I need to readjust mid run. Since I blew out my old ones backpacking (not recommended), I'm ordering my second pair today!

These are the best shoes! I use them as trail running shoes, hiking shoes, and approach shoes. I have narrow heels that often slip in shoes so that I end up with blisters, but not with these! The sock-like construction and attached tongue holds my foot in place so that the shoes move with my feet. It also keeps my feet from sliding forward and protects my toes on downhills. They have enough cushion to keep my feet from aching on long hikes and the soles grip steep rock very well. The spacious toe box is very nice when my feet swell up on a long day. I wear them with black superfeet insoles and it is the right amount of support and cushioning for a pronating runner. I also love how light they are. As approach shoes they work well on steep slab. They don't edge as well as a true approach shoe, and I wouldn't climb in them, but they are so much better for the hike in that they are usually my choice for any approach that doesn't involve hard third class terrain. My biggest complaint about them as approach shoe is that they lack an attachment loop! I gerry-rigged something with skinny webbing but it would be nice if there were something built into the shoe so you don't worry about them coming off your harness. The mesh keeps your feet cool but also lets in a lot of dust, so be prepared for dirty feet if you're in the desert. I also had the sheath come off a lace (after a fair bit of use, but with life left in the shoes). La Sportiva is sending me a new pair of laces, but it would be nice if they were a little tougher. Please never stop making these shoes!!!

Updating an earlier review - I have had no trouble with durability. I love these - have 2 pair in different colors and wear them often!

I bought these shoes for trail running, after doing a lot of research and comparisons. I have not been able to use them too often for that yet, however I have been working them in at the gym. I also took them on my hike up Angel's Landing in Utah. For this I am so thankful and the quality and grip on the shoes was amazing. I was one of the only people on the hike who was not slipping at all. The shoes gave me an extra sense of security and helped to reduce my fear while doing this more strenuous hike. I would recommend these shoes to anyone and am posting on Instagram about them!

Buying a second pair because they are so comfortable and supportive! I have a narrow heel, wider forefoot, modest bunions, and a "low volume" foot over all - and my feet are in heaven in these. Really feel supported and ready for adventure. They fit a bit differently than some other la sportiva I tried on - in that they have more room or height in the toe area, so the top of the shoe does not press on the tops of the toes. Usually wear a 7 1/2 in shoes, and 8 or 8 1/2 in athletic shoes, and the size 8 or 39 1/2 fit perfectly. I read some review on another site that they have a flaw that makes them start to fall apart in wet conditions. I plan to keep these as dry as possible and keep my fingers crossed - I am so happy with them otherwise!

The La Sportiva Ultra Raptor has been a game changer for me on the trails. I am a marathon road runner as well. So for cross training the trails and mountains are were I go. I've tried Brooks (same as road shoes) but found they run a bit slim and don't offer as much support and they feel a little clunky. Then I went to Altras and after a week of those I started having issues withy ankles. One day while shoe shopping (best days ever) someone recommended the Ultra Raptors. I'm in Love and my feet are so happy too. I usually have toe nail issues and with the style of the toe box and fit on this shoe I've had zero issues so far. Thank you for making a great all terrain shoe with a great style. I'm a fan and client for life.

After trying on about 15 pairs of different brands, these were the most comfortable by far. I have narrow feet so these didn't come out until the third wave but I'm so glad we threw caution to the wind and tried them anyway! Lacing is snug, good stable platform and the drop that I was looking for. No need for the usual innersole to take up slack. And did I mention comfort?

I love these shoes! They have the right amount of rigidity in the sole for trail running but also good cushion in the foot bed. Like a previous reviewer, I do not need to add or swap the insert. I like this shoe so much that I'm considering purchasing another pair that are exactly the same for when my current pair wears out.

Great shoes! I have narrow, slightly flat feet, I over pronate...AND have bunions (ouch!) so it's tough to find a shoe that works well with all three of my "traits". These fit the bill on every aspect. Excellent technical trail running and long distance hiking shoe. Never any discomfort even after a 12 mile, mountain hike/jog. La Sportiva is now my favorite!

This is the best All Terrain shoe that I've bought since 1994. It is comfortable out of the box. The ultra sticky rubber outsole gives me the best traction on all terrains - wet rock, wet tree roots, mud, ice and steep snow covered terrain. I have never had a blister. The toe guard does it job. It's hard to explain but my foot can start to roll and the shoe adjusts and keeps me stable. It's remarkable. It breathes and dries quickly. I have small feet but one foot is just a bit bigger than the other. The quarter sizes finally solved that problem. The half sizes always leave one foot sloshy and the other tight. The quarter size is perfect for my not so perfect feet. This she is also excellent for my high arches. Please do not change this shoe. I use it to end all of my Vlogs on YouTube. I use a summer shot and a winter shot. Thank you La Sportiva!

THese run on the small size I usually wear a 41 but the 41.5 felt a little small, especially in the width. These shoes are a little on the heavier side so I think great for hiking but to heavy for running.

I bought these after reading the reviews where most people said that the grip was excellent on rock and even wet rock. Unfortunately, I have to say that if offers almost ZERO GRIP on smooth, wet rock, and I might as well have been walking on a bar of soap while out on a hike this morning. So yeah, these are a no no if you're planning to run on a trail with river crossings or even just with rocks that are wet from the rain. It is treacherous! I do, however, love them on muddy trails. Here is where the traction on this shoe really works. I did not slip at all in them. The sole also offers great support and it's shock absorbing qualities are also very good. I also really like the toe box cause it really protected my toes when going downhill.

TERRIBLE color. I don't want to feel like I'm wearing crayons. I returned these and found something I felt good in.

Mixed feelings about these shoes. I love them, or should I say loved them. They fit perfectly right out of the box and are so comfortable and the soles stick securely to rocky surfaces when I hike or use them as approach shoes for climbing. But they aren't durable. The laces disintegrated in the first year - the sheath separated from the core and made the laces unusable. So I replaced the laces, then one of the tabs that hold the laces in place broke, so I can't lace it tight enough. I'm so bummed because I found these shoes so comfortable, but it's not a good value if they fall apart before their time.

fit and size were good and it seems to have adequate cushioning, but the interior has several rough seams that are very annoying just walking across the room. These would be torture on a long hike!

I bought a pair last year and really liked them. This year, the toe box feels narrower/tighter and I am not as pleased. They're not as comfortable and I wish La Sportiva would go back to last year's fit. I keep wearing my old ones even though the new ones are OK.

I bought these after reading reviews about lightweight hiking shoes. Unfortunately, they're too tight. I have a wide foot and wear a size 38 Birkenstock. I ordered these in a women's 8.5 (or 40) and they're too tight. Too tight in the toe box as well as the instep. That won't work for hiking.

I was disappointed in these. I have La Sportiva hikers that are a size 10 that fit beautifully. I usually wear a 9 and a half. But these 10s were very short and tight. Also, the shoe was very stiff. I returned them. I wanted support, but these were not comfortable at all.

I think I just have to give up with La Sportiva. Their larger women's sizes (anything above US size 10) are SO difficult to find and it doesn't help that their shoes run about .5 - 1 size small already, and their shoes just run super narrow. Disappointed that they don't offer wide sizes, pretty much cutting out a huge market segment. These shoes hit every single mark except for the width and it really sucked to have to send them back.
