Very displeased with my buy on these shoes. I have been searching for a good barefoot outdoor/everyday shoe. My first buy were the Nike free 4.0, they are alright but smother my feet in hot weather. Their soles also have a way of trapping rocks and twigs, or kicking them back at you when your running. The new balance MT10V2 looked like the best bet out there, but much to my dismay my shoes came damaged right outta the box. The gray mesh lining you can just barely see in that first picture was already detached from the seem. Most of the reviews I read implied these would last around 100 to 200 miles. Clearly no one checks the quality of their product coming off the line, at New Balance. At least Zappos has a good return policy. If anyone can suggest a better built barefoot shoe please let me know.

I love these shoes. They take a little time to get used to but I am a casual runner and they are great for a mid foot strike. I am a woman but I bought the men's shoes because I find I like the wider toe box and these fit me perfectly. I usually wear an 8 1/2 or a 9 in women's and I ordered a 7 1/2 in this shoe.

I purchased these for a 7K obstacle course/mud run and they performed flawlessly. The race was on various terrains including pavement, sand, mud, and water. The shoes had good grip, and dried quickly after exiting water obstacles. Before the event, I walked/ran short distances in them to strengthen my legs/feet since I had never worn minimal shoes before. After the race, the material was easy to clean, and I plan to use them for future runs/races.

I wear these shoes on many days. At work and home. I alternate them with the Merrell Trail Glove which is also a minimalist shoe. The New Balance MT10V2 has a little more cushion than the Merrell but a little less arch support. Both are great shoes, but I like the New Balance a little better. I'm happy that these shoes are offered in a wide width. I wear these shoes with socks and they feel true to size.

Great looking shoe, but started to fall apart within 2 weeks of wearing at the top of the toes. Never had problems previously with New Balance. Not happy!

Just like I did with my MT1010 review, let me start by saying that if you are used to structured, cushioned shoes, you have to transition to those very slowly, and research and apply principles of Natural Running (or Chi running, or Pose). If you don't, you are on a fast track for a bad case of shin splints. With that out of the way, let's get to the review. I have a pair of MT1010, and I really love them. However, when running more than 15 miles on pavement, the slugs on the MT1010 really start to bother - you can feel them every step of the way. Yes, I know, the MT1010 are for trail running, but for me they also work well on pavement. After doing some research, I decided to give the MT10V2 a try, since I had a marathon coming up. They worked out quite well. At first, the band that crosses the front of the shoe felt a bit strange, but with a few runs that feeling went away, and I started to appreciate how much it helps to keep my feet in place. My 1010 were size 11; according to New Balance's site, the 10V2 runs a bit smaller, so I got them on 11 1/2, and the fit was perfect. There is plenty of room in the toe box, with the band preventing your feet from moving inside the shoe, which is really good. The shoe is feather light, with a tad more cushioning than a barefoot-style shoe, and a 4mm drop. If you are looking for something right above barefoot, this shoe is for you. The upper provides plenty of ventilation; I ran a marathon with the 10V2 in Dallas, and it was over 80F, but my feet felt pretty comfortable. The laces stayed in place, and I had to re-tie them only once, as they had become a bit loose. The sole fixed the problem I had with the MT1010, so to me, this was a winner. Plus nothing beats orange...

Literally these are the best runners I've ever had. I'm an athletic 32 year old male who runs 3-5 miles about 3 times a week. Besides trail running I switched to 5fingers a few years back, which I liked for the change in running technique, but didn't love feeling every pebble under foot. These NB's are the perfect in between, I still run naturally in a barefoot manner, but it feels a lot more comfortable when the pad of my foot strikes the pavement. And they're perfect for trails. Pebbles are no problem. It feels like I'm barefoot, if my bare foot had pads and was protected. Oh, and I went up a half size for these and they're perfect.

I bought these to replace an older pair of NB Minimus shoes (these are great for those who want the benefits of barefoot running but don't have the guts to go fully exposed). These, although similar model, felt a lot smaller than my other pair. Zappos excellent exchange policy made it a breeze & the replacement 1/2 size bigger shoe fits fine.

Great shoes. I've been wearing them for CrossFit for ~1.5 years (3x per week) and they've held up great. They're fine for me on short runs, haven't shredded on rope climbs, and I don't slip on box jumps. They have virtually no padding so you stay connected to the ground on O-lifts. Since they don't have any heel I use different shoes if I'm just working on O-lifts, but for a WOD they're perfect.

I bought the shoes to use while on my row machine. They are comfortable and fit well in the stirrups for my feet on my machine.

On my third pair now. Getting about 200 miles out of these shoes with a mix of 70% trail, 30% pavement running. The knobbies wear down where the balls of my feet strike, but they still seem to grip fine for a while after that. There isn't much padding so the feel of the shoe does not change much with a worn sole.

I bought these for my husband as a gift. He had been looking at these for a while online, so he had never tried this shoe on. He goes up half a size for his running shoes, so I matched the size of his old Reebok's (size 11), and these fit great. This is a minimalist shoe, so it's important to take things slowly as you build up to this type, understanding the difference between this and traditional shoes. In fact, my husband alternates with another zero-drop shoe for now. These are super thin (no cushioning), but we know the Vibram sole will last a long time. He loves this shoe, and if you take things slow (going from high cushioning, high toe drop to this), we highly recommend it.

Fit is great. There are these two little pads that sit on either side of your Achilles and help prevent any rubbing back there if you're wearing no show socks it any socks at all.

Minimal shock absorption and a very thin sole, expect them to last about 500 miles before they start breaking down. That said they are a well designed minimalist running shoe. They take a little while to get used to and break in. I run 25-30 miles a week on tarmac so I have nothing to say regarding their intended use as a minimalist trail shoe. On my 2nd pair.

My husband desperately needed new running shoes so I convinced him that he needed these. He actually was not fully convinced until they arrived (incredibly fast, by the way) and he tried them on. He says that they are beyond the most comfortable shoes that he has ever worn and wants a second pair. I have the woman's version of these, and they are my favorite as well. I have wider feet than most, and find that these work super well for me, just slightly narrower than the Merrell barefoot vapor glove, which I also love, and which is a bit more roomy for wider feet. But the New Balance shoes make my feet appear not so wide, while still being comfortable, which is a nice plus. Theses are great shoes! Yay New Balance!

I'm very happy with these shoes. I haven't really run in them but I did take a couple of hikes and they are holding up well. They are very comfortable. I haven't had these type of no heel, flat shoes before so I was glad to find out how comfortable they are. I like the way they stand out too. I have never had so many people actually comment on my shoes!

Unexpectedly, I fell in love these shoes! Most comfortable shoe out of the box I have owned in over ten years. I originally anticipated using this shoe for summer running and casual around the house. After the 1st I started wearing them 5 days a week. It is rare for me to come home from work and forget that I am still wearing my shoes. I wear these about 12 hours a day & at work I have a stand up station -so I am on my feet all day -zero complaints! Maybe not the best winter shoe, but works fine here in CA. For the first time my feet actually stay cool and no more complaints of stinky feet from my wife. It's a win-win! You do have to be careful of the netting on the top though. I was using a handtruck moving heavy boxes and a sharp edge caught and slightly frayed the netting. But other than that this shoe has exceeded all expectations.

Bought these shoes for my boyfriend and he Loves them! He's already talking about getting a second pair because he's been wearing them daily although I had bought them for hiking. He is very into nature and has always wanted to walk barefoot. He likes how it almost feels like he's walking barefooted.

I bought them for the Tough Mudder, and while I could have used a more aggressive tread for that course they did very well. These shoes were very comfortable, and never felt like the well over ankle deep mud was going to pull them from my feet. They also dried very quickly after sloshing through the muddy water parts of the course.

These shoes have been perfect for kung fu, tai chi, & qigong. They're light weight, flexible, and have lasted longer than any other shoe I've used for training.

Fewer companies are making minimalist running shoes. Hopefully New Balance will keep making these. I started wearing minimalist shoes about four years ago. I'm 64 and run about an hour a day. Since I've started using minimalist shoes I have not had any kind of joint issues or foot problems. As one of the few options still out there these shoes have been very comfortable.

These shoes are exactly what I needed. In my experience with New Balance Minimus product line, I purchased one pair that is too cushy and accommodating (M3090BK2) and one pair that isn't forgiving enough (MR1BS). With M3090BK2, I found myself reverting back to improper technique towards the end of a longer run. Granted, this was my first pair of minimal shoes and converting took some time. With MR1BS, I feel overexposed. A single, careless step on an unfortunately positioned pebble has the potential to be run-ruining. The MT10V2s feel like tires for my feet. They provide me with just enough protection from the road and just enough support for the trails in between. I'll be buying another pair.

I've been looking for a good minimalist trail running shoe for a while now and am happy to say that these work great for me. They don't mimic the barefoot as well as my five fingers do, but they are close enough and more importantly they keep my feet protected from rocks and debris while I'm running the trials. The sizing is pretty close but may be 1/4 size big, which is perfect for my feet (I wear a 10 1/2 or 11 based on the shoe).

Really enjoy these shoes. I wear them for bike riding and trail hiking. I typically wear no socks with them, and my feet really breathe and feel free during exercise. Soles have great tread and traction, and don't seem to be phased by my very sharp aluminum bike pedals. Great quality feeling materials/build overall. I'm ordering another pair(s)!
