These shoes helped me go from "hating to run" all of my life to loving it. My marathon runner friend (who runs like a gazelle) recommended them to me. I was skeptical because I run like an elephant. Not anymore! Running has helped me lose 50lbs. and keep it off since I lost it at the end of 2012. I tried the Gravities too and was unhappy with them because I overpronate and they wore out way too fast and I've had 2 pairs of Motions and they do not. Highly recommend. Again I am 190lbs. now, was 240lbs. and I have been running in Newton's the whole time. They just get better and better. This is the first time in my life I have ever spent this much on shoes and I was leery, but they are worth every penny!

Newtons are excellent for forefoot runners who like minimal shoes. These are NOT for heel-strikers or runners who want a lot of arch support or motion control or cushion--these are the epitome of MINIMALIST shoes...that being said, they are the best minimalist shoe I have tried (I've tried them all, and I always come back to Newtons--at least for the longer runs. Zoots are great for shorter distances, and they cost less). My only complaint with Newtons is that they wear too quickly, you only get 300-400 miles per pair. *As always with running shoes, buy a size larger than your street shoe size, to allow for swelling.

I love these things so much! I am a relatively new runner, and tried a bunch of different shoes before discovering these. My feet are very flexible and I found that a lot of shoes just didn't have the ankle support I needed, and I had a lot of pain and swelling in my feet pretty frequently after running. These shoes solved my running issues. They're light, comfortable, just supportive enough, and really unique and eye-catching. These are totally worth the money!

I was hesitant to try these and give up my beloved Asics but I have to say they are amazing! Fairly certain they have contributed to improving my pace. I am hooked!

This shoe is the best so far of my newtons. It's lightweight and performs wonderfully on the trails. I'm extremely happy with my purchase!

Very comfortable - no breaking in needed. Have ran quite a bit on these in the last month and I love them. Great running shoe.

Newton's are a great running shoe once you get used to them. I usually wear a woman's 10, but Newton's run small, I order a womans 11. They fit perfect. This is my second pair. Zappos competitive price, terrific service. Thanks.

These shoes have been a real surprise. I wore them to work walking around a lot for about 2 weeks, then used them on short treadmill runs (up to 3 mi) then finally took them outside for 5 and 8 mile runs. I wear orthotics in them with no problems. I still have some calf soreness more like muscle soreness from working differently but I am running faster and more efficiently. I was a heel striker before and always wore mizunos because they were light and narrow, but these are my new go-to shoes!

This is my 3rd pair of 2013 Newton Running Motions. It's a great shoe. After I switched to Newton's on the advice of my DO, I've set several PR's and had a reduction in my injuries (for my knee). I know the new 5 lug models are all the rage, but I will continue to buy the cheaper 4 lug models as long as they are available. I also like the Boston colors.

I bought these for my daughter for her birthday. She requested them because she is an athlete and she loves these. They give her the support she needs while training for marathons and triathlons.

These are my first pair of newtons and I LOVE them! I do use powerstep insoles because I have had issues with plantar fasciitis in the past. I definitely had to get used to wearing and running in them for a week or 2. There is a pad on the ball of the foot that you need to get used to and balance on it. Been running with these for more than a month and I can say that they are my favorite running shoes. Running feels lighter and it seems to help correct my running form as well.

Love Newtons! They are the best shoe I have ever worn for running. The wide toe box allows for a roomy, comfy run. They encourage proper running technique and any pain that I feel when I run in other shoes is much less or non existent in these. The Motion model provides a little more stability than the other models. This shoe is not for everyone, but I recommend giving it a try. Definitely allow time to break them in.

I switched to Newtons about 3 years ago and in the first year, I would PR every 5K I did successively over a 1 month span. These shoes have increased my proprioception of the road, and improved my running form. I believe in the technology of Newtons as I have researched and read a lot about them, and they make physical and scientific sense to me. I have run in the Motions and the Energys, which is an even more comfortable ride.

These shoes are great! I probate so these were recommended for me. I especially like that the toe of the sole turns up slightly, keeps me from tripping. This is my third pair of NEWTONS. So lightweight yet supportive.

I'm so excited about running in these shoes, but they run at least a half size smaller than true size. I'm returning them and getting a bigger size. Advice to runners, buy at least a half size larger than normal shoe size.

I am a forefoot runner with a bit of supination and high arches - as such, it has been close to impossible for me to find a shoe that fits my stride and really allows my foot to move naturally. I just found these shoes and I have to say, it is like night and day. The shoe has plenty of support in the front which allows me to forefoot strike, which is much easier on my feet, knees and back. I've only put a dozen miles on them but wow, these are the best shoes I've ever had. Plus they are exceptionally snazzy looking!

This is my second pair of Newtons and I am completely sold on this brand. I had been having some symptoms of plantar fascitis when I bought my first pair of Newtons and all the symptoms went away. Running in these really does give you a little more "spring" in your step. I use them for both running and walking. I have gotten a lot of compliments on this new pair and great colors! Go to the Newton website and read about sizing; do what they tell you and order up in size.

My friend who is an elf-like, experienced runner recommended these to me. I am more like an elephant running (lol). I am at least 30 lbs. overweight and I was reluctant when trying these shoes out, BUT I have run over 10 miles (not at once) in them and I still love them! While they do not help me with my supination, they help me with my strike and they are cushy and lightweight. I never liked the Nike Free lightness and lack of arch support. These are not like them. They move with your feet not against them. They were true to size for me. I can't wait to try another style!

The wear pattern on the bottom of my Asics (2100 series) clearly indicates I land on the ball of my foot, so I thought these Newton's would be perfect for me. The rep from the company told me to gradually build up miles as they are a totally different kind of running shoe. So far I've only tried them out a mile at a time (warmup) on the treadmill, then switched back to my Asics. And so far I love them. They fit well, have a wide toe box and narrow heel, and are extremely lightweight. What they don't really feel is cushy. I thought the lugs under the ball of the foot would feel more springy. Still, I have not noticed any different aches, etc. from them.
I am currently training for a marathon and have been competing at 70.3 distance triathlon for several years. I started running over 20 years ago (middle school). So I'm an experienced runner. Neutral gait.
In Asics I'm an 8-8.5. Newton suggested an 8.5 for these and it seems perfect. The shoes themselves don't have a lot of arch support but the green superfeet insoles takes care of that.

I have a lot of foot issues, and have had multiple major foot surgeries, the most recent being 12 months ago. I bought these Newtons to a) encourage a mid-sole strike when I run and b) provide adequate foot support without being heavy. These shoes are amazing! Not only do they help me run faster, but they are also the most comfortable and lightweight running shoes I've ever worn. I highly recommend them!

These are amazing! It's like they teach you to run correctly. I'd been running on my heels and getting terrible cramps in my tibialis anterior, and googled all over the place trying to figure out the reason -- it it was from running heel-toe; these put you in an athletic stance and make it easy to run correctly. I do have to return this pair because the stitching on the side is coming un-done, but will be getting another pair! You can't beat the ride and they look great and get tons of compliments!

For me, this shoe has made a tremendous difference in my ability to run efficiently while minimizing risk of injury. I have also started running my fastest times in several years after purchasing this shoe. I have had several knee injuries as well as surgeries and footwear for me is more than critical. Newton's were recommended by a specialty running store and after a very bad run of wearing another brand I decided to make the investment. Yes they are pricey but for the chronically injured runner, the choice is obvious. I was already a mid sole striker so the transition was completely seamless for me but for those heel strikers out there, just take a few weeks of mile long runs a couple of times per week to slowly get used to them. You can still do your longer runs in whatever you are currently wearing. If you have knee, hip, or back issues and refuse to give up running, you owe it to yourself to try out this shoe.

What I like: The fit and the gait-based support technology. I've already noticed a bit of an improvement in my plantar fasciitis pain. What I'm not crazy about: The color choices (I feel like I'm wearing clown shoes!) and the weight (they feel a bit clunky and heavy).

I came across Newton at the Vegas Rock n Roll half marathon expo. I was very intrigued by this shoe and its design. There were several dedicated marathoners there buying more shoes and insisting that Newtons changed their life! If you buy Newton shoes you may want to go to their website first to research the forefoot running style. These shoes are designed for runners to land on their forefoot as opposed to the heel. Your running strides are shorter, but it if done correctly, you will run faster with less injury and impact to your body. It takes a while to get accustomed to this running style. If you are not interested in changing your running style, then this shoe is not going to be for you. My only gripe is that the color is sooooo ugly! This was the only color choice for this shoe. Newton needs to add some other color options!!! They also run a full size smaller. I am a 7 and got an 8 in newton. The will tell you that it is best to have them fit a bit larger rather than to small. I am in the process of changing my running style, these shoes are great for this purpose. I am giving 4 stars for the color - it hurts my eyes!!!

I found this shoe ran 1/2 size small on one foot and a full size small on the other! I'm disappointed because I'd love to try running in these. The mid-foot cushioning makes it feel like I imagine walking with normal instead of flat arches might feel. Another disappointing feature was the construction. The finish edge of the tongue was rough and itchy on my foot. For this price, I expect better. That said, I ordered 2 pairs and only found this problem on one shoe.
