Promising comfort for feet hard to make happy - Before purchasing my first pair of Birkenstock soft beds, I carefully read all the reviews because a have very wide feet with very short boxy toes that make it very hard to find a comfortable shoe. First, let me reiterate the point may reviewers have made previously; the regular Birkenstock width is truly a very wide shoe. My usual EE to EEE feet fit just fine in the regular width using the tightest holes on the strap! There is even an extra fraction of an inch of space in the foot bed so that the sides of my feet don't dig into the sides of the shoe. Other reviewers have mentioned that the straps need to be adjusted rather loosely so that the straps won't cause discomfort or blisters. Again, I find this to be true. So far, I cannot make them give me blisters and I've walked at least a 5 mile day breaking them in. Unlike other reviewers, however, I was a little disappointed that the soft beds didn't feel instantly comfortable. In fact, they made my arches hurt for a solid week. But after a week, they started to feel more and more comfortable. I must say that they force you to walk differently. I felt a lot of stretching in my leg muscles. My joints also creaked continuously from ankle to knee to hip for the first couple of days I wore them. I actually think it's for the better because after a few weeks of wear my other worn in shoes are starting to feel uncomfortable in comparison. My heels do not hurt as much as they did if I wear them exclusively. I also think for long continuous walks that I'd prefer the Milano with the ankle strap, so I will be trying that next. So in short, don't worry about them being wide enough if you have wide feet and don't expect them to instantly fulfill your quest for the perfectly comfortable shoe. But in time, I think my Birkies might turn into just that. I'm not sending them back.

Love this shoe! I love Birkenstock's. This is my second pair of Arizona’s with the soft footbed and don't think I would want to try any of the other Birkenstock sandals as I am so satisfied with this one. However, the straps are slightly looser on this new pair, but I think by punching new holes that this should take care of this minor issue.

Perfect fit, perfect service - These Birks fit perfectly, were comfortable immediately upon putting them on, and as usual, Zappos out-does every other merchant I have ever shopped with, online or in stores. I have never had so much great service and doubt that I will ever buy shoes from anywhere else.

Moderately comfortable - I do like wearing these sandals because of their simplicity. But I do have to tighten my foot grip as I walk because my feet slide in the sandal while I wear them. I wonder about the accuracy of the size recommendations. I wear an 8 shoe; the recommendation for that was 41, which apparently is an 8, 8-1/2. But it still seems slightly loose for my feet; I'm managing. I might poke another hole in the top strap to see if tightening helps the slipping.

Awesome - I can't take these shoes off, they do take some time to wear in but once they do they become part of you. People have started to think I'm weird when I go indoors and complain about taking my shoes off. Like everyone says they really do last forever. I've had mine since I was in high school eight years ago and I just got them resoled last month so they're still going strong!

The soft foot bed is great! I really like Birkenstock's and with the soft foot bed, they're even more comfortable. I'd never had the soft foot bed before and think that's the only way to go now. The one thing I wish is that the holes on the straps went smaller.

AHHHHHH - The floors in my new house were causing my arthritic knees to scream in pain. The soft footbeds add the cushioning I need. What a relief!

Arizona not up to expectations - Length and width of the footbed are appropriate. Had to punch an extra hole in each strap to get them to fit. Arch support is very high. Not a comfortable shoe, especially at the price.

Look great but.... They are overall comfortable and very nice looking. Perhaps a little wider than I thought they would be and my foot is not necessarily narrow.

Good product and everything is fine. I just wanted to comment on your employees, they are outstanding, helpful, kind and considerate and go out of their way to be of assistance. You set the pace for customer satisfaction! Even when you didn't have what we were looking for, your employee took time to try and locate the product for us elsewhere. This is very rare and will bring us back to your site.

Aaah - Just came back from 10 days in Paris, walking over 5 miles/day. It was hot, and the Birks were cool. They were the only shoes I took that didn't cause blisters. I wore them every day, and am glad I had them.

Pleased buyer - This Birkenstock soft- sole sandal is super comfy. Also I got a narrow size--better fit (generally not available in typical retail setting). Knee pain reduced wearing the soft foot bed.

Simply the best for summer - I absolutely love Birkenstocks. They are comfortable beyond belief. I wear these things so much! I even bought a pair for my 7 year old son and he loves them. You can't get them wet though, so be careful in rainy weather. I walk all over NYC with these and my feet don't hurt.

More comfortable than ever... Well, first you need to know that I've been wearing this shoe style for about 30 years, so I must be happy with it. The new softer foot bed is incredibly luxurious. I love these new shoes. One issue --not a new one for me: Because I, like many, have one foot a bit longer than the other, my size 39 fits well overall, but my toes hit the trademark Birki edge on the left shoe.

Soft Footbed Birks - Felt a little different, not as angular as regular Birks, so were very comfortable right out of the box. Usually Birks take a few wearings to feel right. Only drawback is they do not seem to offer quite as much arch and ridge support.

Awesome shoe! I love this soft foot bed shoe! I have a chocolate pair just like them minus the soft foot bed and I cannot believe the difference. So comfortable. I think I will also purchase the chocolate with the soft foot bed that is how much I love them. A must have!

Birkenstock shoe - Very nice sandal third pair of Birkenstock shoes I have. Soft bed is great; no need to break in shoe very comfortable. I have wide flat feet it has a great arch support. Best of all fast delivery and great service I can't complain.

Very Pleased! Fits good, feels good. I need the arch support and they do help! Well worth the money.

Comfort at last - I've never been able to wear Birks before as they were too hard but when I saw a "soft" version was offered I tried it, and they are wonderful. I normally wear a wide so I bought a normal and had to add another notch in the strap, and another one about a month later. The foot bed is perfect so don’t know if I should try a narrow next time or not. But have no complaints about this shoe. The support is great for my knees and back.

Great Shoes - Very comfortable shoes with good arch support. The high quality was obvious as soon as I put them on.

Finally! I love this sandal! I was a bit weary since this is my first pair of Birkenstock's, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The soft foot bed is very comfortable. In fact, I look forward to putting them on as soon as I get home from work. They provide fantastic support and they make my feet feel great.

Good - I enjoyed these a lot. If you ever thought the general or classic foot bed was simply too tough or hurt at first, I would truly recommend switching to the soft bed. While the styles for the soft foot bed are limited, I believe these are better. At first they are a bit squishy but in contrast to the classic model, it’s a welcome change and takes you by surprise. However, because it is latex and foam in the foot bed, it, like all Birkenstocks, slowly molds to your feet. Which means that while the material may not be squishy or extra soft it will still feel padded which, for me, was something I always wanted. I think if you like Birkenstock styling but demand a bit more comfort try these. And give them a few days and I assure you they will meet your expectations.

Thank you Birkenstock for such a great sandal - This is the best sandal ever!!! I now own 4 pair. I can find my size, a slightly narrow width (which isn't all that narrow) and style. The soft footbed is fabulous...I hope to only order soft footbed Birk's from now on. THANK YOU BIRKENSTOCK. (The shoes are fabulous too)!!!
