These ROCK for comfort. Been at wit's end with the fasciitis problem (in a perfect world Birkenstock would come up with a comp toe for work), have a pair of these for knocking around and a cuter pair for going out, both with the newer softbed. They stay on your feet, don't make slap sounds when you walk and, having come of age in the 60's, I never did think they were ugly. To each his own, right? Interesting thing about the Birkenstock insole: while it "encourages the natural gripping motion of the toes" it's a gentle gripping. Most open-backed sandals have me digging my toes in like crazy to keep the sandals on. I have high arches and a very high instep, a double whammy for finding shoes that fit. So many shoe reviews show "excellent arch support" but seem to have been written by people with normal arches. These really DO have excellent arch support.

I realize that Birkenstocks have been around forever, and I only recently bought my first pair. Now I know what all the hype is about! My touchy arthritic feet loved these Arizonas from the get-go; there was no break-in period. I'm glad I read the reviews on this brand, though, since a narrower, smaller size is needed when buying Birkenstocks. I find the styling totally attractive and, rest assured, I'll be shopping for more of these soon!

Fourteen year-old granddaughter loves them!
She asked me for some Birks for Christmas - apparently they are the thing to wear in the group she hangs out with at high school. She loves them, wears them without socks, even when it's snowing. She says they are too comfortable to wear anything else, if she has the choice.

Comfort for Plantar Fasciitis -
I've had plantar fasciitis for the last 3 years+ and I have tried all sorts of regular inserts, custom made inserts, special running shoes, taping the feet, icing, rolling foot over the ball, cortisone shots etc. Nothing seems to keep my foot pain under control as good as these sandals+ daily stretching. I highly recommend these. Don’t be disappointed because initially (~ a week) they feel very hard on the feet. Then they miraculously mold to your feet and feel so comfy.

I own two pairs of Birkenstocks, one of them the Arizona and I like them because they are so easy to slip on to walk around the house and the yard. When my dad, who is recovering from a stroke, could not wear other sandals, either because they were hard to put on or because they were too sloppy and may precipitate a fall, I bought him a pair of Arizonas. He loves them for their comfort and function, too. I have to comment on Zappos' service, which is extraordinary. I ordered the shoes at around 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday. The shoes arrived via UPS at 5:00 the next morning. My husband says it was like it was magic.

Arizona is a great Birkenstock classic. However, I prefer the regular footbed. The soft footbed feels a bit odd to me and added a bit of instability to my foot.

These fit in width, and I wear a double wide shoe. I find they have very good arch support and the soft footbed made them much more comfortable than Birkenstocks I had tried in the past. They look like Birkenstocks, which is not my favorite style; however, now that I have one foot that overpronates and one foot that requires arch support, I must sacrifice cute for sturdy and "good for me." I wear either an 8.5 or 9, depending on the shoe. I ordered both the 39 and 40, and the 40 was a bit better in hitting my arch and the "under the toe bump" than the 39. They are comfortable, but I do not wear them for anything other than around the town.

The dye in the black suede colored my feet returned them at customer service recommendation but the replacement pair did the same. It stops after a couple weeks. Love the wideness of the regular. I had retired my regular Arizona’s (owned for 11+ years) a few months back because they were just too hard to walk in. I found after getting rid of them that I really couldn't live without them, so I tried a pair with the soft footbed. Angels sang when I put them on my feet.
