These are interesting, in that they are definitely 'foot shaped' with a wide, rounded toebox. They were too short for me, Euro size 42 / US11.5-12, and the very constructed insole takes up quite a bit of interior volume. I tried removing the insole, and while that gave more height over the toes, it would be miserable to wear: these shoes must have an insole. There's a molded lip/ridge at the back heel (and probably the toe) and the cork insole has a matching 'notch' at the heel, so the insole 'snaps into' place and is secure. Construction was adequate, and I was okay with the style, being what it is, but they're just too short, not enough interior volume, and kinda stiff as well, like a clog sole.

This is the 2nd pair of the Alegria Belle I have purchased (2 colors). I have only worn them a little because I live in a very warm climate and wear sandals as much as possible. I really like the toe shape and room which is the main reason I purchased them. Also, the style is great. My problem is that I have a very narrow instep and so the shoes gap around the sides. I have to tighten the strap to the max. Also, for me, the upper edge by the heel bumps my ankle bone a bit (this may resolve with wearing). These shoes feel best if I wear socks with them (which doesn't look too cool with skirts or dresses). I am still happy to have these shoes, and they are the best maryjanes I have found with good toe room!

I loved everything about this shoe with one exception. For me, my toes being the problem, on one foot the toe box was just not deep enough. My toes rubbed and I could see no way to walk without pain and blisters with this problem. The style was so cute, the strap was a great length and the color was exactly what I expected. I wish I could have kept them. I stick with the Algeria brand and will continue to do so. Zappos was wonderful thru the entire return process. I will continue to make zappos my "shoe store" of choice.

I loved everything about this shoe except the toe box. It was tight on one foot. I have crazy toes on that one foot. Because of my crazy toes the toe box just didn't work.

Alegrias with this sole are my go-to shoes but unfortunately, I can't wear this particular style. One of my feet is a half size larger than the other and, after trying these, I can see I'll need to limit myself to open-heel shoes. The adjustability of the strap on these was excellent. Same style with an open heel, like Merrell used to make, would be perfect.

Great in wide for my wider foot. Appreciate the padded heel edge! For the instep it’s a barely fits situation but does not feel too tight once in. Still musing on whether a size up is needed but 40 seems huge on my usual size 8-8.5 foot. They do squeak if worn sockless. This is the single negative with these shoes!! I will probably keep for fall wear with jeans as they are adorable, but not for long walks as the squeak is embarrassing and odd.

I wrote a review earlier on where I mentioned that the upper inside does not feel as comfortable as I had expected. I still feel that way. The top of the shoe seems to be rough, unlike the cushy feel I had come to expect from the other reviews. The edge of the shoe hits the knuckle of my big toes in an uncomfortable way as well. I am willing to live with this, however, since the shoes are so adorable – people stop me at the store to ask me where I got them. Thinking of getting another color.

I really wanted to love these shoes. They fit my foot but were too tall on the sides and hit my ankle and rubbed which made it very uncomfortable. I have a regular problem with this so it might not bother others. I appreciate that I can return them so easily! Thanks Zappos! The other pair I ordered worked perfect. (Alegria duettes )

It’s okay, the bottom could be a little softer.

So cute with the same fabulous supportive foot bed, but this was just too short for me and the top edge of the toe box cut into my feet. I sent them back to get the Paloma pair once again in the correct size. I wish Alegria would do more styles in size 13/43. I normally wear a 11 to 12 in other brands, but I need the 43 in Alegria. They are dorky looking, but what a relief for my aching feet and back.

These shoes are beautiful, but the toe box wasn't high enough so they rubbed against the top of my toes. Width and length were o.k. I really wish the toe box was higher (or softer) as I really wanted to wear them.

The shoes are adorable. However, the difference in fit between the 38 and 39 is crazy. The 38 my toes are cramping, 39 shoe swallows my feet! I’m getting 39 cause they are adorable and the strap make the shoes wearable, plus this brand is comfy.

I wear a size 7 to 7 1/2. I tried to make these shoes work but they were just a bit too short from the heel to the toe. My big toe rested against the end of the shoe when walking, and a larger size would have been too sloppy on my heel, so I was out of luck. So disappointed, but the style and arch support were great. I don't have much success with finding shoes to fit when they are in the European sizes.

Love these shoes! But after wearing in the house for a short time my heels started to hurt. They are headed back.

I really wanted to love the Belle Paloma shoes by Allegria; however, the cut of the shoe is actually quite small. The Belle was even smaller in width than the Paloma and was too tight on the height, width and length of the shoe for my foot. I have arthritis in my feet and bad bunions and wanted so much to be able to have the combination cork insoles, but, sadly, have to return them.

I’m struggling with plantar fasciitis and this shoe supports my arches and is soft for my heel. I don’t usually like Mary Janes and it’s an expensive shoe. But I can walk in comfort so it’s worth it.

These shoes are adorable and compliment the leg very much. If you are looking for soft and cute, this is your shoe. I have ordered them to be able to wear something nice while I recover from a foot fracture. Unfortunately, what makes these great shows for normal feet makes them not ideal for an injured foot: they are super soft and I realized I need firmer shoes. They are also pretty wide so the foot stays pretty loose (again a plus in normal conditions.) You might want to order two pairs, as they run pretty big or rather order your lower size.

What happened on the sizing? They are way too small/short. I will have to size up. Like the feel otherwise.

I typically wear 8 - 8 1/2, and the size 38 fit me best. My toes touch the end, just a tiny bit, but not in an uncomfortable way. Tried the 39 but it was way too loose all over. I'm on my feet the entire time at work, thus the reason to find a comfort shoe. Hoping these will last longer than previous pairs of B.O.C. from Born, which wear through the soles in no time. I've got my fingers crossed that Alegria will be my new favorite. I'm older, so looks aren't as important as comfort. The upper is secured to the footbed with a noticeable seam, making the width appear even wider than it already is. My feet do NOT look delicate wearing the Belle. But my heel feels secure and I didn't have any blisters since wearing them now for several weeks. I may try other styles by Alegria, as these are well made shoes that pamper your feet.

I ordered these for my mother as a gift. I ordered her original size and had to unfortunately order them a size bigger. She stated that they were too narrow. The bigger size is great. She works in them daily

These are so freaking cute!! Sadly they were too tight over the top of my foot (not the strap, but down by the toe area). Very well made - I am bummed I couldn't wear them.

Finally, a casual shoe I can wear!! After years of foot pain and various uncomfortable orthotics, I had given up the idea of ever wearing anything but sneakers. Then a podiatrist recommended trying this brand. I knew they run wide and I have a medium, thin, flat foot. After doing research on Zappos I found this style was supposed to be a slimmer version of the usual alegria mary jane. I can't believe they are so comfortable! I did add a small neuroma pad on the underside of the insert. This is the most comfortable my feet have been in years!! Please, Alegria, make slim version of a walking shoe. Not everyone has wide, full feet. Thank you for making the Belle and don't stop! I gave the shoe four stars overall because my heel slips but otherwise they're great!!!!

I needed a comfy black shoe to wear to work in an office setting. I feel like it's an older style when I was wearing them and they didn't feel young on me and I bought them when I was 30. The black started to come off after 6 months of use. I like them but don't love them.

I love the Alegria shoes, but they are extremely wide. Please, please start making shoes at least in a narrow width. The only style that I can begin to wear are the lace up shoes.
