After many years of my Sorel Cate the Greats, I wanted something different. These are rock star boots. I live on Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, so we receive many feet of snow a year. Love these Baffins! Unfortunately, though, the zipper broke three months into having them. Thanks to Zappos' amazing customer service, they sent me an entirely new pair. I'm assuming I received a dud pair, hence the four stars. Overall, love the style and comfort. And five stars for Zappos.

runs short. I wear 7.5- 8, ordered the 8 and my toes hit the end, even with normal thickness socks. plenty of width in shoe, loose fit in calf

I almost kept these... I tried them on a few times over a couple of days, but I knew I would be unhappy, so I sent them back. They are really cute, but they were too loose in the ankles. I know from experience that this will drive me nuts as they get worn in.

These are pretty cute, but a little bulky. I would have kept these, but they were slightly snug and the left boot zipper didn't slide smoothly up and down so I knew it would just get worse. The idea is great though... use the laces, to get the fit for your calf right, then zip them on and off from there on out. They would probably fit me best with no socks. I'd say they'd run 1/2 size too small.

I liked these cute boots, but they were super wide around the calf, and pulling in the laces in the front so much made them look weird. Very comfortable though, and great for someone with larger calves.

Holy cow, these things are huge! If you're looking for a boot with lots of room that hit almost in the middle of your knees (I'm 5'2", 104lbs) then these are for you. They are comfortable but I feel like Big Foot in them. They look well made and I'm sure someone taller and bigger than me will love them. If you're looking for something sleek and stylish, keep looking. If you're looking for something substantial and comfy, these might be for you.

I love these boots and have gotten a lot of compliments since I'm wearing them earlier than expected(!). One thing, though, the little tab on the back of the boot tore off the first time I pulled it (it looks like it is a finger loop to help you pull the boots up). Apparently, it is decorative and not functional! Zappos is great, though, since I originally ordered a size too big - no problem with the exchange. Thanks for that.

Overall very happy with these boots. Very comfy, waterproof, and warm. I get a lot of compliments on these boots. Minor complaints - the zippers do occasionally catch on the liner fabric and they could be a little more sturdy. The lacing cord is a bit slippery and it took a few times of re-tying firmly before it would stay. Overall, a great pair of winter boots.

Okay so my first pair of combat boots! lOVE THEM! I am a size 10 and when I opened the box I thought these are never going to fit by boats! Well guess what.. they do! SO they make my size 10 foot look small.. that alone is worth keeping em :)They are super comfy with plenty of room in the toebox.. and in the heel. I have fallen arches and need to wear a heal lift in anything flat.. (needless to say I don't have many flat shoes.. most are heels or wedges). My heel lifts fit perfectly and since the ties and hooks make the boot completely adjustable they still feel great! Wearing them today with over the knee socks, sweater miniskirt and tights.. really cute!

These do not come in half sizes. Unfortunately I am usually a size 7, but the 7 was too tight. I ordered an 8 which is too big. If they came in a 7.5, I'm sure I could have kept them. They are really warm and comfortable, though I didn't test them outside. I'd recommend trying these if you can find a size that fits.

Ordered 2 pairs of Baffins, Madeleine and Coco. I normally wear a size 10, so following the advice of many reviewers I got size 11. The Madeleine was huge, too long in the foot, huge in the calf, more fashion focused than warmth. It zips up the side, so adjusting the laces doesn’t do much. The Coco was well insulated and more comfortable, but was too short in the foot. I would have kept the Coco were it not for the length issue. Overall disappointing, especially since I had to wait so long for them to show up; Zappos shipping speed is not what I remembered.

I really wanted to love these boots but I have to return them. They are too large around my calves and they also are too wide for me. They make my foot look huge. The sole is large and sticks out past my heal and toe. They seemed to lack insulation on the inside footbed and I am pretty sure that my feet would freeze in these. I felt like I was walking directly on the ground while wearing them. The suede did not look or feel like nubuck - it feels and looks like regular suede making me question the water resistance of this boot. This boot is expensive and it felt cheap. They are going back.

Really wish these boots had worked -- they look great! However, the issue with the back heel piece coming up too high and rubbing (as other reviewers mentioned) made me decide against these. I'm fairly sure it would've caused blisters very quickly. Also, I usually wear a size 6 in boots, but the 6 was a bit small. Had the heels not been a problem, I would have exchanged for a size 7. The circumference wasn't a problem at all -- I usually need a 15", but the larger width was fine, once the laces were adjusted.

This boot was not quite what I was hoping for as far as comfort. It rubbed against the back of my lower calf (maybe where it was creasing) with each step. I really like the look of the boot and it did even feel warm in the short time that I wore it around the house.

I really liked these boots but I had to send them back because the left boot was about 1/2 size too small. I wish they came in half sizes when they get above size 10. Otherwise they seemed well made and comfortable and stylish.

Not as flattering as I hoped and the top of the boot bent and cut into my foot when I did a test walk - making them pretty uncomfy. Also had weird contours to the foot bed. Have to send back, which is too bad b/c they seemed like a great quality boot (especially for the price).

The toe area had a big bubble in it- how many people tried this on before me? Wanted desperately to like these shoes but cheaply made- choosing function over fashion and mailing back right now!

In terms of comfort and style, this boot can't be beat. Unfortunately it's not at all waterproof - my toes are soaked by the time I come inside from walking my dog. I suspect it's an issue with whatever compound the company uses to seal the join between the sole and the upper, and I'm hoping I can get a replacement pair that actually keeps water out.

I have to agree with a couple other reviewers that these boots have two main flaws (at least, for some people, apparently). Firstly, the zipper can be extremely finicky. I didn't believe the other review-er who experienced problems with one of their boots, but I should have! While there is no structural flaw on the zipper, the teeth are so crowded that it was almost impossible to zip up let alone down again. It kept getting hopelessly stuck. (The wide calf was great, though.) Second, there is an annoying ledge/seam along the heel of the boot that cuts directly across the heel bone with every step. At least, with some feet shapes.
