I have been trying to find a replacement for New Balance canvas shoe CT520. The MW577 was my latest attempt. The shoes seem well made, and the right size, but I do not find them comfortable. The instep seems tight even unlaced, and the leather tongue digs into my ankle. After walking a while the ball of my left foot starts to ache.

Arch support OK, better than most. Comfortable shoes. They have a substantial feel with out the weight. I found left heel a little loose. Went with Dunham Lexington over these.

I've owned nothing but NB athletic shoes for at least ten years. However, recently I have had a lot of trouble getting any NB to fit and these are no exception. 11 1/2 suddenly is too short and tight, 12 still tight. Wide size ridiculously wide and the look of the wide shoe draws laughs from my walking friends. Oh I long for the old days when I'd buy two pair of 621s at a time. They fit like a glove and wore like iron. Gave up on 623s. This 577 is not nearly as nice, still fits poorly and now sits in the gym bag. Worn but unworn. Sorry.

The shoes fit very well and are comfortable. The velcro straps hold tight but I can see where the velcro is separating from the leather. This is after two weeks of wear. I will probably have to glue it.

Only gave three stars 'cause not sure how they'll hold up yet. Bought these for my husband who has issues tying his shoes. He wanted to try the velcro sneakers to see if it was any easier than bending over to tie the shoes. These sneakers, or 'walking shoes' I guess they're called, look good and fit well. He got them in wide and the wide seemed to fit fine. At first I was concerned that the tabs that fasten on the velcro didn't pull far enough over on the velcro, if you know what I mean. Lots of velcro still exposed. But then he pulled the closure tighter and they fastened better, and he said it didn't hurt, so we'll see. My husband is very, very hard on his shoes so I want to see how well the velcro holds up for him; if it keeps the shoe closed and doesn't wear out too fast.

I have bought five pairs of these shoes simply because they are one of the few walking shoes available in 13 EEEE. The shoes are comfortable. However, the two oldest pairs have had separation of the front side of both feet indicating that they are poorly stiched at these points. The major difficulty besides the aesthetics is that water soaks the toe regions if you walk in the rain. Even the newest pair that I bought in the last couple of months seems to have the same stitching.

I bought this for my husband. It fits fine, but they squeak to the point of annoying. They are a very basic shoe in all white. Actually think they look a little old for my husband and he's in his upper 50's. If you want a basic walker I'd say this is fine.

I measure 9 wide, double or triple E, and I ordered this shoe in 9 EE as I have other similar NB walking shoes that ran small. The shoe seemed to be the right length but were too narrow up near the toes. They appeared to be well constructed, but I could do without the BIG "N" on the sides.

The straps for hooking and looping to fasten the shoes were too short. Each strap was about an inch shorter than the ones that my husband just stopped wearing.

The tongue was also an impediment for me to getting them on and to the velcro closure tightened

I walk about 10 miles a week at a brisk pace. I live in the mtns with paved and unpaved roads so these conditions will give the shoes a good test. The review: The cushion on the heal is adequate but were the ball of the foot strikes is not. This is why I gave it a three star. I am going to keep them for every day use. LLBean was right on when it said to order the next half size up. This is my first time with velcro-closure and I like this feature. They are so easy to get off and on.

I bought these for my elderly aunt...yes mens sneakers but did the conversion for women's and needed the Velcro. Had to send them back. She said they were "too heavy" to walk in.

These shoes are comfortable to walk in but the velco straps are way too short they barely have enough room to close that is why I gave them three stars. I hope the manufacturer sees this and makes the velco straps at least two or three inches longer so they could at least close properly.

These are a very comfortable shoe, but I found that the "hook and loop" (otherwise known as Velcro) closures are set up in such a way as to make the hook portion of the strap barely reach the loop portion. I suspect that once the shoes are broken in some, and the poofiness has compressed out of the tongue padding, they will mate up better. Otherwise, a very comfortable shoe with great feeling arch support. You get the feeling you could go the distance in these shoes.

I liked to concept, Velcro straps. My feet are wide with a high instep. The shoes were small, not as wide as should be, and the velcro straps were too short to clasp. The shoe should be a roomer with longer straps.

I bought these in black for my husband. They probably look better in a medium width, but in the extra wide size he needed, they looked clunky, possibly because of the bulk of the velcro closures. They're being returned.

I purchased the extra wide walking shoes with velcro closing for my dad. The shoes fit fine but the velcro was 2/3 the fuzzy part so his feet were too wide for the top strap to fasten. I had to hand sew a piece of the 'sticky' side of a piece of velcro on the end of the straps so they would close.

The sneaker fit fine and I have purchased this style and brand before. However, these sneakers "creak". The first time I tried them on in the house the right sneaker creaked, but the left sneaker was fine. I figured it just had to be "broken in" a little. The next day I wore them around the house and they both creaked and my wife asked me where the noise was coming from. When I held them in my hands and twisted them they creaked. I then realized this was because of the construction and how it was made. I didn't intend to wear a sneaker that "announced" my presence ! I wish I was able to purchase the "623" style because they were the best !

The box had the shoe size as 9.5 B (narrow) which is what I had ordered. However, the actual shoe label showed the size as US 9.5 M. The shoes measured 1/2 inch wider than my existing 9.5 narrow shoes. It looks as though the wrong size shoes were put in the box.

This is the strangest fitting shoe I think I've ever put on my foot. Overall, it felt much smaller than the size indicated, especially the width. I could barely get them on, and although the length seemed okay with respect to where my toes were in the shoe, my foot felt completely constricted across the top. The back of the show was very loose and kept slipping down my heel as I tried to walk, and the arch support was almost non-existent. I'm returning them because there's no way I can wear them, even after a "break-in" period.

I've been a New Balance customer for ages, as it's almost impossible to find a B width in other brands. I've worn the 813's for years and the 811's (I think) for years before that. I always loved the fit and the shoes. But things change and NB no longer makes these. I've been searching for a replacement and even resorted to eBay to find old 813's. But that time has gone by. These looked great in the pictures and I was excited. But upon receiving them and putting them on, they felt stiff and the tops cut into my ankles painfully. I wore them around inside for a few days hoping they'd loosen up to no avail. It's worth noting that in the past I loved the 813's because they immediately felt comfortable, with no break in period. They're going back. It seems that this shoe design comes up higher and tighter around the ankles than the 813's did and that's a problem for me. I would love to know if NB designed a new shoe to take the place of the old 813's.
