Hate to give a bad review but the hook and loop strap would not hook up. I am sure it was my big foot but it was a 4E, it should have fit. The return was no problem, very easy, thank you.

Though I love NB because they have wide shoes which is what I need and I have purchased this shoe before, I bought these for my husband who is in rehab and needed a good pair of shoes for walking. I didn't think their would be a problem this time. I was wrong. My husband has a high in step which was never a problem before but now he could barely get his foot into the shoe. When he finally did - the Velcro straps were so SHORT they wouldn't even close. I also bought a pair for myself - same issues high in step only I couldn't get mine on at all. I will be sending both back in hopes that perhaps a bigger size will do the trick. Hopefully they will READ THIS REVIEW and do something about lengthening the straps on the shoe.

Had to return original order (11 1/2 4E) in exchange for 12 4E.

So far so good a little tight but have used stretcher in them and that helped. First time my size didn't fit well.

I put them on in the spring for in house use and the previous years in house goes outside to replace the older of the every other day two pair. Their use stops in October November to start up next spring. They are also fitted with Spenco insole for my Platar Fachitise. (horrible spell on that but I think you get the idea)

the shoes are fine. comfy and supporting. BUT, if you decrease the length of the upper Velcro strap any more it will not fasten to its mate and the shoes will be worthless. in the 25 years I've been buying this style I have seen the upper Velcro strap get shorter and shorter. please make it a little longer.

I usually purchase the white lace-up 577s but decided to try the hook and loop 577s this time. These new shoes feel different on my feet. The shoes feel big enough with the exception they feel stiffer and a little smaller in the toe box area with a few areas on the inside tip that seem to rub on my toes. I am still in the process of breaking these new shoes in and cannot honestly give a review on comfort and wearability until I can wear them for an extended period which I so far have not been able to do. The lace-up shoes have always been 5 stars but I rate this pair lower for now.

My husband has Parkinson's disease so he can no longer tie shoes and its even hard for him to slip his foot into tieless shoes. He needed Velcro. His PT instructor was aware that New Balance made a velcro tennis shoe. The Pros are that you can make the opening very large to slide your feet into the shoes. The shape and the quality of the rubber sole is good ensuring no slipping which is crucial. There is good cushion behind the back and the sides where the ankle slides into the shoe to provide good comfort to that area. The Cons are in the design on the top of the shoe. The upper sides sides should extend more covering more of the top of the foot. My husband wears a 10 1/2 but this design would affect any size. Once your foot is in and the velcro is closed in place, what is viable is a huge amount of the tongue. The eye sees a wide, obvious strip of tongue, making this tennis shoe very much looking like a tennis shoe for handicap people. And like other reviews pointed out, the velcro Is too short. The top piece of the velcro will NOT extend to cover the bottom piece so you will always have exposed velcro facing upward. Poor design. Where the tongue is sown inside the tennis shoe leaves a very uncomfortable ridge on top of your foot. Inferior design. In today's world of fashion, who wears all white tennis shoes anymore??? New Balance could have put SOME color on these shoes, perhaps on their logo or some stripes. Any type of color would have given some "sporty" fashion to the shoe. His feet are "glowing" white, reminiscent of nurses shoes. Again, this makes it very much look like a tennis shoe for handicap people. So if you do not like completely white, you may want the bone or the black color. Neither of us wanted the all black version but the "bone" version is too yellowish, making it look artificial. A beige or a light tan would have been nice. And, of course, with a splash of color.

I wear these shoes every day. I addition to normal activities, I walk 2.5-3.4 miles nearly every day. They last about 6 months before the heels wear down.

I have worn the MW577 for years but this time the exact same shoe is just too narrow. I wear a D width but this shoe felt like a B, and I'm the exact same weight. I had to return them.

Seems they have used less material to make the product. The tongue is a little short and the velcro tabs are shorter than they should be, these are supposed to be made for big feet.

The shoes felt like a horizontal rod was in beneath the pad under my toes which gave me a rocking motion when I walked just like the old style of Sketchers. I wanted to use them for Pickleball but knew it would be impossible to run without tripping.

So I always buy New Balance size 8 wide sneakers, which this recent purchase is. For some reason this pair feels a little tight. I looked at a comfortable older pair of N B sneakers they are the same size but much more roomier. Are you making these sneakers smaller? Not sure why the same brand and size a few years later is now somewhat tighter. This is disappointing.

Comfortable right out of the box, but proved squeaky in quiet settings, and warmer than other New Balance models. Also retained more oder than other New Balance models, perhaps due to lack of ventilation. Ideal for a noisy, cold environment!

Once I get them on they are nice and comfortable. The straps with the hooks on one side and the loops on the other, need more of the material that makes them adhere to each-other rather than the non-adhering material that is on the ends of the straps, make them all adhering. Also the inside end of the tongue needs to be better stitched to make it flatter, it folds over and increases pressure between the foot and the folded portion of the tongue. UNCOMFORTABLE!
They do look good, and like I said, once I maneuver everything and unfold part of the tongue, they are nice.

I recently bought 3 walking shoes with the bone hook and loop strap. They are exactly what I ordered and the fit was perfect, but the top strap is not made correctly. Since I have a very high arch on my right foot, I can only close the top strap a quarter of the way. Evidently the strap was made to hook at 1/2 way or greater and it will not work for any distance shorter than 1/2. Very disapointed.

The 3 shoes I purchased are fitting very well, but the straps are very short for someone with high insteps. Pro-pels are much better!.

Ordered a 12 M and they are too small. I’m sending back and I’ll try a 13EE. Hope it’s a Match.

I like the shoes just fine but I think your price is way too high. They only last six or seven months. The heals wear very fast.

I was looking for a replacement for my much worn and discontinued 846 walking shoe that is mostly leather.
I ordered the 577 because they are leather and look roomy in the toe box. Many shoes lately have a more sloped toe box that doesn't give enough room for my long toes. I also like the walking strike path and the sole.
The one problem I found with 577 when I tried them on is with the tongue where it's attached on the inside. Its an obvious lump with edges all around that are outside the seam line. As I wore these around the house for 15 minutes could already feel that tongue lump pressing into the top of my foot, so had to send them back. Will keep trying NB til I find the right one though! Thanks Zappos for your return policy!
