These seemed a half size short. I love this model . the aggressive tread and the high welt make it a grar Northwest winter shoe.

I wear a size 11. The original size 11 pair I ordered were too tight. Zappo's kindly sent me a new 11.5 pair. They definitely fit better, but still a little tight all way around. I would suggest 1 full size bigger. I'm going stick with these 11.5 shoes and hopefully they will wear in nicely. And a thank you to Zappos for being super easy to deal with. I will absolutely buy my next pair at Zappo's ! Len

This is my second pair and I am quite pleased with them. They are an excellent walking shoe and since we live in the rainy Northwest, traction is important and they are very good on slippery surfaces. They look good in a rugged sort of way. They are not the most durable. On my first pair the right shoe fell apart while the left held up??? That may be a quality control issue Merrell should address.

I have owned this shoes for a year now. At first, I thought they were great. I have plantar fasciitis, and these provide excellent arch support and great stability. However as I wore them throughout the day, they became tighter as my feet swelled. I have tried wearing them with thinner socks and also compression socks. Nothing seemed to work. By the end of the day, they become extremely painful for me to keep on. I really want them to work because other than being too tight after hours of wearing them, they are an absolutely wonderful shoe. I gave them 4 stars because I think for others they will be great. They just aren't for me.

Got these as a Christmas gift for my dad, he loved them! He has a high instep, so getting into shoes like these are typically tough for him. Once we bent them a few times to stretch them out a bit, his foot went right in and he said they were very comfy. You can tell from the high quality construction that these will definitely last him a couple of Winters. The bottoms are excellent for traction, and his feet will stay warm and dry.

Just moved to a colder climate and needed winter shoes. These needed a little break it for me. I have a high instep and sometimes the shoe edge (which is firm) cuts into it. Shoe is a little heavier than I'd like. It grips the pavement very well in wet and icy conditions. Really keep my feet warm in cold conditions. The longer I wear them the more I like them, but for me and my high instep, a tie up shoe may have been better.

I will review, because I use the reviews. I like these shoes. They seemed to run small, as others have noted, therefore, I ordered 11½ versus my normal 11. They were a little tight the first couple days, and have now broken in nicely. They are still snug, but good. They must be waterproof, because my feet feel sweatier than most shoes. I have not jumped in any puddles yet.

I bought these because I wanted something quicker/easier to throw on than my snow boots during our Minnesota winters to run to the grocery store, take out the trash, or get into work from the parking lot on a snowy day without ruining my regular shoes. They work great for that purpose! They are super warm, slip right on hands-free, and are waterproof as advertised. The one thing I will say is that it's not really an all-day shoe if you have an indoor job. They can get pretty swampy by mid-day, since the waterproofing means there's not much airflow. On days where I've made the mistake of not remembering to bring the indoor shoes with me, I've had to go socks-only in the office by lunchtime (which, luckily, works fine at my job, but probably not at most!) But for the intended purpose I had in mind, they are perfect!

Good: The soles have excellent traction, even on icy surfaces. The support is good. and the warmth is sufficient. Bad: The opening is pretty narrow, so the elastic is stretched pretty far to get my foot in - which causes (at least for the first few weeks so far) discomfort on the top of my foot.

Warm, dry from external water. The shoe does not breathe well so my socks are often damp after wearing them. Did return the first pair in my true size due to my toes touching the front. Other than that, they are a great shoe.

Much more than I expected comfort wise. Great cushioning, and comfortable right from the box. I bought two pair for a Paris trip where I plan on walking many miles daily in rain and cold.

I live in Paris and have been searching for a pair of shows to protect my feet from city elements (wet streets, dog shit, etc.) for awhile. I was wearing a pair of Merrell hiking shoes for awhile but it wasn't meeting the high fashion bar set over here. These shoes have turned out to be the perfect solution. They keep my feet warm and try and seem to truck through any external element encountered. Everything about them is positive, fit, function, and most of the style, just two negatives. 1.) The tongue of the shoe digs into my foot when I'm wearing thick socks. Easily solved with thinner socks and will likely go away as I wear them frequently. 2.) The tread on the bottom could be a bit more subtle. I'm sure they could probably be even more H.R. Giger but I'd prefer a slightly less rugged look. Otherwise, if you're looking for the function of hiking shoes with a definitely step up in style, these are a great buy!

Shoe is comfortable except that the end of the "tongue" flap is very stiff and pokes into the front of the ankle making it uncomfortable to wear. If it wasn't for that, this shoe would be a 5 star. It was so annoying that I returned the shoes.

I was surprised to find the tongue of these dig into the top of ankle. Quite roughly. I really liked the shoe otherwise but ended up having to return them, I couldn't withstand even an hour of wearing them.

The toe box was a bit narrow on these. Would have attempted to order the next half size up, but they're out of stock. Also, the shoes we received were not in the original packaging nor did they have any of the original labels, etc - so that was disappointing. They had obviously been returned and generically repackaged. There was a spot that appeared worn on the fabric of the heel and what looked like cat hair in the tread. Not what I would expect from Zappos.

I so wanted these shoes to work for my husband but the opening was so tight that he could not slip he foot into at all. His feet are not wide by any means. But as far as nice looking and sturdy they are great.

I bought these as a replacement for the Innsbuck; which were the best fall/winter/spring dog walking-knock around shoes for the Pacific Northwest. I had a pair of these Shiver Mocs several years ago and they worked well; although the rubber on the side cracked at the flex point and leaked; ZAPPOS stood by the product and replaced them...rolled forward 3 years and I got this new pair. Just like other reviews the side of the shoe rubbed against the bottom of my ankle causing a blister...so I returned them and swapped them out for the Allout Blaze waterproof....ZAPPOS return policy is amazing and I have no problem ever buying shoes from them. If anyone has any pull with Merrell...have them bring back the innsbuck with the neoprene sides...just have them put a longer wearing sole on them.

I bought these with the belief that would be durable. Granted I am 6'2", 240lbs but they have simply fallen apart...everything but the sole. Seams have open up on both shoes. On top and and on the sides. I just want my experience out there, and hope it is helpful. I have recently purchased a pair of Patagonia Drifter A/C Gore-Tex and we will see about those. I print and paint for a living so these too shall be tested.

My husband has been wearing these for years, but we just ordered a third pair, and the new style runs noticeably narrower than the previous ones, even though it's the same size (10.5). He has wide feet, so we had to return them.

The shoes squeeze my feet. I'd need a half size up from what I normally where. This is the downside to not having a store to walk into.

These are excellent shoes. I had to go back and order half a size bigger than all other Merrells that I own. It was worth the effort.

These shoes fell apart in a year. My husband had a similar pair of Merrells before this that lasted many years, but on this pair the rubber peeled away from the shoe. Not so waterproof after that!

I bought this pair of shoes to have a sturdy waterproof walking shoe that I could wear to work. They were comfortable right out of the box, however less than 1 year later (11 months), they have torn through the side and I'm getting wet feet. I walk about 2 miles most days on predominantly sidewalks and road. I'd expect much longer life from shoes.
